It can be tiresome to try killing a high level boss with nuking skills when the target runs away all the time. Although seemingly obvious this tip may help.
Try to single out the boss by killing all adjacent foes then when the target is isolated, have the whole party group around the target and nuke away. It is important, at times, to break the habit of being on the rear line when playing a caster. In these particular situations, most enemies will not be able to really concentrate on any party member and will not flee.
If it's alone, hard to get down and running; Group Hug it!
