Henchmen can be a real pain sometimes, pulling in unwanted enemies is usually the thing they do best. So it's often a good idea after killing some enemies that you rest for a couple seconds and let the energy of the Healer or Mage henchmen regenerate a bit. Or at least let the Fighter henchmen regen their life if the healers aren't healing. You'd be surprised how much longer your team will last when you set aside 10 seconds after each large battle to let the henchmen regen.
