Don't let curiosity get the better of you by being ran to Droknars Forge on your first time through the game. Alot of people are advertsing running and I'm sure it's tempting to see what you are missing out on.
However, you'll miss a large portion of the game and additional attribute point quests. You could go back and go the long way around after, but there really is nothing at Droknars Forge for you on your first time through the game. The armour will be too expensive for you to buy and will require rare crafting components which you won't have.
The usefulness of Droknars Forge running is really to players who have been through the game at least once.
