This happens to me a lot when I ask to be invited to a party for a mission or quest:
I send a pm asking for an invite (when I don't just invite myself), and I get a pm back saying: "I can't find you to invite you". Well I am going to give out this tip in the hope of seeing this a lot less :)
If you want to invite someone and you cant find them on map even when holding the ctrl button and you are too lazy to type it in, all you have to do is:
In the chat menu, left click their name so it goes to the private message chat field. Highlight the player's name and hold ctrl and press c (to copy it). Then click on your invite field and press ctrl + v (to paste it) and press add. There. You just added a member to your party and you didn't even have to go around looking for him/her. :)
Do the same if you are trying to invite yourself to someone's party and can't find the guy.
