The pet. He's a staple in most rangers' arsonal. There are a few simple things to know about your pet. AS is obvious, the higher your beast mastery skill, the more powerful your pet will be. However, at mtimes you will find that your pet is, at best, a mere ditraction. Do not dispair! Think of your pet as a henchman more than anything else. Allow him to do battle his own way, but remeber to keep him healed and alive. He seems to attract damage easily and he doesn't take it very well, but his xtra damge can often turn the tides of a batle.
Unfortunately, a pet is no good if it's sub-parr. If you keep your pre-sear pet for the whole game, then you won't have this problme, but if you find that deeper into the game you want to switch, say to a dune lizard, then you're faced with a problem. Your level 18 stalker is now only a level 5 lizard. Well..here's a hint. Attack single mosters, ones that you and a group of henchmen can take down quickly. THis will allow experience for your pet without giving the enemy time to kill him. Also, your pet gains xp while he's dead. You'll often find that he's gained a level after you zone or defeat a mission. So sometimes it's better to just leave him on the floor until he gets a little bit better. Around lvl 10 he'll be ready to fight, having enough life to not be a 1 hit KO, giving you time to hela and keep him on the field.
However, if you do get a fresh pet, don't bring comfort animal. Just put in another spell, let him eat dirt and gain xp that way. You won't lose your skills every 5 seconds.
