Once you start to get new armor, there are a couple things that you can do with the old armor.
The armor you start with in Pre-searing is worthless, you can't sell it or salvage it.
The armor that you get crafted for you out of materials can be salvaged for materials.
The armor that you traded to an NPC Collector can be sold to a Merchant for a little gold.
