It sucks when you buy, say, red dye, and expect it to come out completely different on your armor. Here's some tips to save money:
On cloth, silver usually dulls the colors, so why not buy a grey?
On metal, silver usually brightens and adds a 'glow'.
Blue on any dervish armor comes out neon bright!
Red on most cloth armor tends to be a dull color.
Yellow + Silver doesn't always equal gold. Same with orange + Silver. On cloth it tends to come out muddy, while on metal it usually just looks like a bright yellow or orange.
Two opposite colors equal a slightly more brownish shade of brown than the default brown dye. As in, earthier.
