When controlling hench and sending them into battle, make sure you know which hench you're controlling. If you happen to have a Warrior or fighter style hero, it is a good idea to set the henchmen to a spot just outside of the monster aggro. Then, it is easier to use the Warrior/Fighter Hero to pull the aggro. This is more efficent than positioning your entire Hench group right in the middle of an aggro as that puts all of your Henchmen into the battle - where monks, rangers, necros, etc. don't need to be loacted.
In this map, you'll notice that there are two spots that are locations for the hench. Here I have put the hench group at a safe location from the aggro, then using Hero 1 (Koss), aggroed the group. This leads to an easier fight, as the ranged henchmen are now located away from the general fight.
Also, as a side tip - it is benefical to "lock" your hero onto a specific target, such as an enemy monk. This can be done by clicking the target icon in the Hero skill panel. This "locks" the hero onto your current target, until you issue another command or the target is dead or out of range.
Good Luck.
