Use ID Kit on White Items? Beginners 2
Author

Description

Some people advise you to ID your white items before you sell them to the merchant. Doing so can sometimes increase the value. But its not always a guarantee. I've found that IDing a white item can increase its value from anywhere between 0-50g. Normally, in the lower areas of the game (pre-searing, Old Ascalon, Fort Ranik, etc), its not practical. Remember that each time you use your ID kit, you're spending 4g (100g for the kit divided by the 25 uses you get from it; 100/25=4). There's approximately a 10% chance that your ID will not equal out to the cost of the ID.

My suggestion is to instead salvage the item if its not worth much to the merchant (less than 10g, I usually salvage it). The materials pile up fast and can be sold, saved, or used to make other things (rare items, parts of armor, and whatnot). Gold drops so often in hunts & quests, salvaging is better in the long run IMO.
