Although your contact with the Charr Pre-Searing is limited, you're thrown up against quite a vast number of them Post-Searing, with so little exposure! What to do?
Well, Prince Rurik gives a quest in Ascalon City that is called Charr at the Gate. In it, you go with him, a monk, and another Warrior, to fight four random Charr at the gate leading to the Northlands.
As with any quest, you may abandon this quest in any outpost. So instead of getting the reward at once from Rurik, don't talk to him after they're defeated, and instead return to Ascalon City, abandon the quest, and then go to Rurik and get the quest again. When you go outside, you'll go again and fight four more random Charr.
In this manner you can see the variety of Charr types and their labels, which will prepare you much better for fighting them Post-Searing.
