It seems timely to remind everyone of the importance of online security.
We all know that there are those out there with malicous intent who for some reason get a kick out of messing things up for others, gameamp could be as much a target as any other site with a large user base. We all need to be secure, viruses can come from a multitude of sources, the best things you can do is protect yourself as best you can. Heres a few simple steps to make surfing the web a little safer.
Make sure your virus software has up to date definition files, most anti-virus scanners provide an easy option to update the programs internal knowledge base, make sure you do this at least twice a week, if your program has an option to check for updates daily, I recommend you let it. New forms of viruses are created almosty everyday, it's important your software is fully 'aware' of whats out there, if you haven't updated your files lately Do it now!
If you don't have any anti-virus software or can't afford to update your software there are some excellent 100% free options out there, one of which is AVG free, a popular, effective and well supported free scanner and resident shield.
Always make sure your firewall is active, if your not sure how it works or what to block leave it alone, unchecking too many options could leave you at higher risk. Look to the programs help file before changing anything, even better if you know someone you can trust seek advice.
Remember that browsers can be the target for attack too, unsurprisingly Internet Explorer is at greatest risk simply because it is widely used and anything targetted at that is going to hit more people, if you haven't already thought about switching browsers there are a couple of great browsers you can switch to and reduce your risk, try Firefox or Opera, both great browsers with 'tabbed' browsing and each offering a cool choice of skins and add-ons.
These are only a few simple pointers in being more secure, it doesn't take much time and it could prevent some serious heartache.
