While at E3 GameAmp was invited into a private screening of some upcoming content to be featured in Guild Wars within the next year. Though we weren’t allowed to take pictures, we are allowed to report what we heard from the event.
Turns out Guild Wars has a very ambitious year ahead of them as they plan to release two new modules to the public. One of which will feature two new professions for players to choose from. At this time there’s no word on what those professions will be however through the imagery it looked like one has a very “Shaman” vibe to it.
Details are sketchy but we’ll update you as soon as we get more information.
perhaps it works on 1)tribal medicines and 2)witch doctory or 3)clairvoyance or something. Eg: 1)Herbal Remedy: Heal target ally for x, that player is poisoned for y seconds. 2) Voices from Beyond: Target opponent cannot cast spells for x seconds for each corpse in the area. 3) Omen of Death: For x seconds, when you die, you are ressurected with y health and z energy and gain no death penalty. Just an idea...
hey guys just registered lol but. he said it was a shaman vibe they arnt even sure if its a shaman... anyways shamans can heve spells that disease and poisin targets for exampl eif u ever playechampions return to arms they had moves like puss storm poison bolt i dont think they are like monks or ritualists at all
shaman, hmm. They already have a nature mage, a archer, warrior, theif style thing, healer, necro, shutdowner (mesmer :)), summoner. Maybe its a cross of n/rt?
Well as much as it sounds A-Net is running out of ideas, it does go to show that they did a fantastic job with the current professions, I mean with all the diversity a fantasy game can offer if they have managed to sum up the general basis of these in the 8 professions they have then they have done a fantastic job.
With that said I doubt they are running out of ideas though, remember A-Net havnt even touched other races yet (something they have planned for a while now) imagine playing GW as a Tengu or some other creature.
Either way this is a comment section so I will cut myself short and say nice work on the report Nogame.
3 new proffesions: Miner, Farmer, Trader. The Starting places are Cantha&Tyria. I don't know if this is a fact, I just posted what i saw from Guildwiki.org
like i said in an other thread, where they siad that next chapter will be african themed, it is likely there will be a shaman, cause there was in old north africa. A lot of nature stuff
Summon Power of the mighty 5: (elite) Summon one random lvl x animal from the mighty five (rhino, elephant, buffle,...) this animal attacks foes and dies after xx sec's
Or
Rain dance: Summon a rainfall, wich gives allies adjected to the rain shower a health regeneration of x.
sec prof would be a nambian warrior (spears) i think
There are different types of Shamans for different cultures ranging from Native American to Africa. Shamans, though are usually accredited for being healers/witch-doctors/medicine-men, but in most cultures shaman have the ablity to speak and commune with spirits.
I still think GW needs a better beastmaster thingy, 1 pet isnt enought, even if it is summoning them or transforming into them.
lol if there running out of ideas here are some for them... the classic summoner, dragon tamer or dragoon, alchemist, shadow spawn, sword socerer, lancer, mystic night lol theres still so many that can be used.

That's fake information. Was a hoax, check guildwiki now, the article was deleted.
Yes, it's fake, but it wasn't a "hoax".
It was an April fools joke.
I think i have a fair idea what the next professions will be...
First Profession - A Summoner. Simple as that, the profession would be based on summoning actual monsters to fight for you (Charr, Naga, Undead blah blah blah). I know it sounds very ritualisty, but it wouldn't be the same, methinks. Perhaps they would be able to BECOME a creature (As in morph into a Charr, Naga, Undead etc).
Second Profession - I'm not as sure, but i smell Pikemen (armored cavalry with spears - probably without the cavalry part).
Shamans are generally associated with totemic spirits. In the ever popular Native American population, most frequently animal spirits.
As such you could either expect a third summoner class (first being Necromancer, second Ritualist) or somthing along the lines of a Shapeshifter. The first would be bad imo, because it'd be more of same, (though the positional limitations of a Ritualist are interesitng) and a Shapeshifter would be tough to implement as they'd probably need to implement Attribute shifting for it. Though they might be able to use the weapon system for that, or have Skill-set changes based on the Shape the Shaman takes.
They have Shaman as a horde-only class in WoW. The shaman is renowned as being one of the best classes and boasts a variety of healing spells, powerful direct damage elemental spells, weapon buffs, and 'Totems' which produce an effect in a selected area (healing, damage, slowing effects) much like an elementalist ward or a ritualist's spirit; plud the WoW shaman can fight well with a mace+shield.
guys i really think they could have someone that fight with there hands and feet i think that would be cool but complicted lol but i would have like a dark knight or mystic knight, a prof that is great in melle attacks and spells. like the dark night could have dark amagic as an attribute and have moves like shadow ball, shadow spray, shadow ally and then various moves for 2 handed great swords that they hold.
mystic knight would be the opposite and have light magic, lights bolt, light shiels etc.
i like th idea of a dragoon it would use a spear and have jumping attacks of ownage...also be able to summon dragons or have them as pets much like th ranger tht would own...http://dragoonlegends.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/.pond/lod6.jpg.w180h240.jpg
and theres a good pic to back me up from one of my favorite games ^_^ Legend of the Dragoon
what about druids? If one is a shaman like prof, its say s 2 new prof, so what about the other? I think druids would be a great addition, because a ranger isnt exactly a druid, druid would be more of the shape-shifter and
and nature attacks and such..
i would love to see some new races, there are lots of races sections which show they might make other races than humans :) im hoping dwarves/elves that would be great.
i think that the new professions have to be human because its a job not about races. it would be cool if, like canthan characters looking different to tyrian character, all the professions could be elfs or ants(no maybe not antsbut u get the drift).
(Shamanism refers to a range of traditional beliefs and practices similar to Animism that claim the ability to diagnose and cure human suffering and, in some societies, the ability to cause suffering. a definition from wiki) so it might be able to cure allies and inflict poison and stuff on emernies
Ok, let's think it was said that next chapter was a north africa theme, now what is in north Africa? Egypt, Sahara desert...dense forests and vast savahnas, lots of animals, huge animals like elephant and rhinos, lions and such...but most important of all, what was in Ancient North Africa??? Pharaoh, didn't they say something along the lines of nice rocks structures or something like that, maybe pyramids or temples or huge cities, there is also sphinx and ancients mythological creatures, I think next chapter is going to be nice, can't wait, and I don't think they're running out of ideas...
Aw who care about the shaman. As long as one of the following happens im good. A) Lots of new warrior skills B) Lots of new warrior armor and weapons, or C) Another warrior tpye class. Oh and one other thing i would like to see. Dual weilding. And not like the two daggers with the assassin more like being able to put a sword were my shield should go.
here are my ideas: javalin-tosser, shaman, battlemage, ninja, rogue, scout, and a witch =) Next chapter should take place in an African-like continent, that would own!!
if any of you have played EQ or EQ2 you might have some idea what a shamen is. and for those of you that don't well shamans have light healing powers and buff other people up with enchantment spells and such they also have some good degen with certain effects

That would turn the game into WoW pretty much. Guild Wars stays different than wow because it only allows you to be one race and run everywhere freely with a giant party. If they added more races than it would just be turned into a second WoW don't ya think. And for races I'd liek to see a druid/shapeshifter type profression like the on on Diablo 2 Expansion. I think a shape shifter would be AWSOME. Although that'd be pretty complicated because the only part in the game where some1 actually changes their form is in the video clip for last missions when that dude tuerns into the undead liche. Don't know how they'd be able to make ur characters change form but if they really worked at it I think they could do it. A pikeman would be pretty awsome too. Insane damgage it'd prob have but less armor than a warriar. Anyways I'd be happy to try any of thsoe 2 classes that'd just be really AWSOME!!
Hey, remember the druid from Diablo 2. That would OWN if you could be one of those. Those kicked so much a** its not funny. But instead of shapshifting into a bear or wolf, you turn into a naga or a char. That wuold be awsome.
I think they shud do something like FFXI (final fantasy XI) did they made a guy called a corsair-it's like a pirate, they can steal and use guns, maybe something like 1)gunning 2)stealing and they're unique attribute could be luck or something like that, and ya a druid would be sweet.
