Well i have seen quite a few different 55 Monk builds out there, and i have always like being able to take on a mass group and kill them all quite quickly, so i use my 55 monk quite often. Anyhow I was mucking around, having some fun and i decided to make a few changes to my build, mainly because i was sick of rockshots distracting my healing breeze while i was farming, so i went monk/mesmer, well to my suprise, this was one of the greatest changes i have made, rockshots failed to annoy me and farming became twice as fast, so without further yip yapping, here is my Build and my Guide on how to use it.....

What you will be "farming" with this build and where:

This Build is designed for Griffon and Minator farming, both of which are found in the desert near Augury Rock, however im sure you can use it to farm Mountain Trolls outside Droknars Forge Quite effeciently.

Skills:

Attributes:
You can mess around with the attributes as much as you like, but here is what i use:

Armor:

Ok basically whatever armor you want, you can use, however ascetics is easier for energy management, also whatever scalp design you want you can use the only important part about the armor is you have 5 superior runes, 1 of each type and 1 of your choice.

Equiptment:

For your equiptment basically the only item you definetly need is the Grim Cesta (this is a quest item from the quest "Cities Of Ascalon"), you can use an axe, a sword or a rod i use "Gordacks Holy Rod" for its skill recharge and casting improvement, alot of other people prefer swords or axes with a +20% enchantment mod on it.

Directions:

First off you will start at Augury Rock, leave out the west entrance that will take you into Prophets Path, once outside follow the map.

Method:

Ok this is the important part, first thing you will want to do when you step outside is cast Mending, Balthazars Spirit then Essence Bond. wait for a bit of regen, once thats done follow the path i have showed you in the map, you will come across a single rockshot. Before entering his agro circle use Protective Spirit, and just walk past it, once past this a group of 2-3 Minators will come charging down from the west in your direction, get them to follow you along the path set, while continuing to cast Protective Spirit when it is running out, once you reach point "A" on the map stop and wait for another 2-3 minators that will come from the south, while waiting its probably a good idea to start using Healing Breeze as well as Protective Spirit, also if rockshots are attacking you use Mantra Of Resolve before using Healing Breeze so they dont distract your skills. When the other group of minators from the south arrive cast a fresh protective spirit and healing breeze and then straight after that use Archane Echo, followed by Shield of Judgement, after that cast protective spirit and healing breeze again if they are running out shield of judgement lasts 18 seconds, archane echo lasts 20 seconds, so when your first shield of judgement starts to blink (running out) use your 2nd Shield Of Judgement (which was replaced by Archane Echo), at the same time making sure that protective spirit and healing breeze are still active. ok what ever group was around you should be dead before you 2nd SOJ ends, continue down the path shown to point "B" and lure the griffons in the area onto you and repeat the same process as above, Mantra Of Resolve if there are Rockshots around then Protective Spirit, Healing Breeze, Archane Echo, Shield Of Judgement, so on so forth. do the same for point "C" and thats all the griffons in the area, you are now griffon farming with ease.

Tips:

1. If there are enemies in your agro circle always make sure that Protective Spirit is active as this is what keeps you alive, without it you will die in 1 or 2 hits.

2. Always be on the look out for Rockshot Devourers, if they are in you agro circle use Mantra Of Resolve, or else you might be distracted using a key skill and die.

3. If there is only a group of 3 or less enemies attacking you i wouldnt bother maintaining Healing breeze, as a +4 Mending should keep you alive.

4. Always use an Identification Kit on Blue, Purple and Gold Items, as it gives there real value when selling to the merchant.

5. Dont farm end on end, give it a break from time to time, and remember to have fun!

Hope this Guide helps some people and please any constructive criticism is welcome.

This is almost the exact build i use, excep i use Guardian instead of Resolve. This way with a 40% chance to block, i can take on and kill every griffon, and minotaur in Prophets Path in 1 battle.

  angry_dutch on 02/06/06 11:03

excellent guide, im gonne give this one a try as soon as im done farming ids with my ranger =)

  cswella on 02/06/06 11:58

very well written guide, I loved the map and the locations to use the skills. Nice touch.

  osmosisjones on 02/06/06 12:48

ty the skills on the map was a last minute idea, hence why they dont look so detailed, and thanks for the well written comment, i always get worried i go into too much detail and confuse people.

  Corrupted Byte on 02/06/06 12:52

I would take out all but 9 in healing prayers just because you can not get more than 10 bips of healing and having any more is really pointless. you get +3 with mending and +7 HB with Healing prayers at 9. you can use the other points into something like smitting and pritection. Just an idea.

  osmosisjones on 02/06/06 12:56

damn i knew i missed something, i said no matter what u must have 5 superior runes, i hope people dont use a Superior Vigor, its 5 Superior Monk Runes, oh well theres something for next time

  Corrupted Byte on 02/06/06 15:01

Here is my build that I have been using to farm hydra's.

Healing Prayers-> 9 (6+3)
Smitting Prayers-> 16 (12+3+1)
Protection Prayers-> 10 (7+3)
Divine Favor-> 12 (9+3)

Shield of Judgment, Protective Spirit, Healing Breeze, Blessed Signet, Blessed Aura, Essence Bond, Balthazar's Spirit, Mending.

I use a 14% longer enchantment sword atm along with the -50hp grim cesta. So that my HB, SOJ and PS all last for 44% longer. less energy usage and more dmg to the hydras. This does also work for the griffons also.

If you use the armor from LA you will save yourself an easy 10k if you do not have all of the parchment that you need.

This method works I use it myself. You can also use it in the UW too I have tried it there you just have to watch out for the guys that take your enchantments off.

Hope that helps you out any.

It was written very well! Although I don't have a monk, you did an excellent job explaining stuff...Awesome work! :D

  Julia Heartilly on 02/07/06 05:13

Lol, this if funny, this guide displays EXACTLY the build I use for powerleveling friends on the Mountain Trolls in the cave outside Droknars.

  icemonkey on 02/07/06 10:57

Probably the most well written and easy to understand guide on the site, good job

  lenway on 02/07/06 18:04

ok....you absoletely do not need mantra of resolve at all.you cant be disrupted my minotaurs or griffons because they do noit posess the skills to do it.second.the only things that will r rockshots. all you need to do to get past them is wait for them to do their interrupt shot then kill it.

  m4st3rsh4n on 02/07/06 22:34

I think this is one of the ultimate guide layouts I've ever seen...

Very cool guide!

ok they wont use "Distracting Shot" at random, they will use it when you use a skill, so if you wait for them to use it u will be waiting quite some time, the only way to wait for them to use "Distracting Shot" is to either hope they miss on a skill you use or to sacrifice a skill, in which case "Distracting Shot" has a 10 second recharge and if it hits a skill it is disabled for an extra 20 seconds, so u better hope to have alot of skills to sacrifice. but thankyou for the constructive critism, it is well noted.

He did state that the Rockshots were the ones that distract breeze. Anyway waiting around for them to use their distract and then kill them seems like an awful waste of time. Most people don't bother killing Rockshots.

Nice guide Jones :p
The map and skills pic is a nice touch.

Armor Problem  boog on 02/11/06 23:54

yo, on your armor your scalp has +1 stacking and +3 non stacking on devine favor, then on your legs u have another +3 in devine favor(non stacking) one of the +3 nonstacking is useless , on your skills u only have +4 dude to scalp, pants should have +health or damage reduce. right?

no the use of this is that it lowers your health another 75 points, this is so your total health is 55, the reason for this is that the skill "Protective Spirit" reduces damage you recieve to 10% of you maximum health making it so you only suffer 5 damage each hit, add that with "Mending" of +4 (8hp a second regen) and "Healing Breeze" (16hp a second) you keep yourself alive quite easily.

  osmosisjones on 02/12/06 04:55

oh another note on that it doesnt have to be divine favor it can be any of the 4 superior monk runes of your choice.

  boog on 02/12/06 19:39

oh thanks

  LANfill on 05/30/06 13:22

nice guide! I have one comments though, if you lower your healing attributes by one point (your mending should be at +3 and breeze at +7) and use a Healing Scalp (+1 healing: making mending +4) when casting mending. Since you only cast mending once and you healing pips are capped at 10 (4+8=12 <-- a waste in my opinion). this frees up 13 attribute points to be used somewhere else. (remember to switch scalps back after casting)
