W/Me Build: IW Warrior for Competition Arena

I'm not sure of the "normal" build for an IW warrior so i decided to make one in case people either don't know it or want to use an alternate build. This build is primarily for the Competition Arena where you are more or less on your own even though you are part of a team.

What is IW Warrior: An IW Warrior is a warrior whos build centers around the skill Illusionary Weaponry which does a fixed set of damage regardless of armor. Basically it is an Anti-Warrior Warrior.

Character: W/Me

The Weapon: You will want a sword, not an axe or hammer. For mods you will want Enchantments + 20% and fortitude +30.

Armor: 1 piece of knights, glad's for the rest. A minor or major tactics, Sup Vigor, Sup Absorption.

Then you put all your stats in Illusion and in Tactics. You are going to be offense half the time and stance tank the other half of the time. Also you won't be doing any damage without IW so it's not necessary to bring any attack skills. They won't help.

Skills:
Illusionary Weaponry (elite)
Frenzy
NOTE ON FRENZY: Although it is seen as a Noob skill that noone should use, you can make an exception for Competition Arena since it's about getting as much faction as possible before you lose and not winning some tournament like in HoH. Just be careful when you use it. If you have large aggro on you, then don't use it unless you are about to die and so is your enemy and you are the last one left and you might as well pick up that extra faction.

Beserker Stance (in case you're low on health)
Healing Signet (for healing)
NOTE ON HEALING SIGNET: Try to back off before using it. you don't want that skill to be interrupted by rangers so if you are taking aggro by interrupt rangers, rely on the monk first and if your health gets fairly low then use the signet. If it is interrupted you might be in a bit of trouble.

IWAY (If you are the last one left..use it and take as many as you can down with you.)
Shields up (You will want something to keep yourself alive. You won't have endure pain since it requires strength so rely on tactis. you don't necessarily need shield's up but a similar skill is good)
Bonetti's Defense (You are an anti-warrior warrior. Hence you will be fighting warrior..hence you will be attacked with melee..therefore...Bonetti's)
Res Sig (don't be a jerk in the arena. Bring one)

So here's what you do. you charge the called target and at the last second cast Illusionary followed by Beserker stance. Then hack away at the target while casting frenzy until Beserker recharges then cast that instead. Heal yourself if needed. After 30 sec your IW will run out and you will have about 15 sec of recharge time before you can use it again so in that time use shield's up (or the defense increasing skill you chose) and Bonetti's to keep yourself alive and regain energy. Try to get them to focus their attacks on you while using bonetti's so you'll be able to help out the lower armored members. After 15 seconds charge the called target and repeat.

Try to take out the enemy warriors first since they will be the greatest threat to your lower armored teammates. Let them focus on the monk since they will be more effective against spellcasters anyway. In the CA you don't really have to worry about losing the enchantment from mesmers since they'll be focusing on the monk and they will most likely not have enough communication with their team members to know that you are an IW warrior. This build isn't for taking out the entire team or winning every match but rather for picking up faction quickly and efficiently. You probably won't win with this build alone and it will depend on your team, but you will pick up faction for every kill so it doesn't really matter.

My one comment is not to use Frenzy (Though I agree, that when used properly there's nothing wrong iwth it)

Still, Frenzy affects your attack speed the same as Flurry, while Flurry deals 33% less damage. Thing is, you're dealing 0 damage anyway, because the IW is taking your sword damage out, so the flurry damage reduction does nothing, and the IAS is equal to Frenzy where you'd be taking double damage.

Sheilds up is great for protecting people from interrupting rangers, but watch yourself is more universal. Take your pick.

Have you even tried this build yourself?
Since you wont get any adrenaline when you have IW on you, so you will not be able to use Bonettis.
And also, Enchantment (+20%) and Fortitude (Health +30) are both Sword Pommels, so you can only have 1 of them.
And btw, axes and swords have same attack speed, so it doesnt matter if you use sword or axe.
GG guide though, i've used a quite similar.

Yes i have tried this build myself and i made a small mistake with the sword thing. I meant sundering and enchanting. Thats what i get for reading 2 topics and posting a guide. :P However as far as bonetti's goes it's good because you have that 15 seconds to worry about and you can build up enough adrenalin and use bonetti's to gain back most of your energy in that time if you're being attacked by warriors so it's not a completely useless skill. Remember i said you will be an IW Warrior for part of the time and a stance tank until the recharge is complete :P

PS. I would never actually give you a build that i have not ran myself with success. The only exception was the SmiteWAY build which i did run but i don't actually run it daily because..well..i'm not a big fan of IWAY. i just figured someone else could put it to better use than i could.

erm, i dont see y you would be without your IW for 15 sec.. it lasts 30 secs and if you have an enchant pommel it'll last 36.. so thats only 4 secs ;)

But then there is the problem of having your enchantment ripped off. Also, i don't know if it's a glitch or not by my IW doesnt start recharging until the actual enchantment starts to wear off.

Good Guide, however, IW doesnt give you adrenaline, so bonetties will be charging from others hitting you. Also, IW Me/W > W/Me anyday...

well ive found it best to use archane echo and just constantly have IW available, and if ur not getting stripped too much, the enchant pommel is pointless. another hint, i think a 19% pommel gives u the same time as a 20% in this case, and saves a few plat

Was this build not so obvious that you had to post a guide on it? I had used this build long before you posted it. Berserker stance with illusionary weaponry is just common sense.
