Swiss Army Knife 55 monk build - IT DOES IT ALL!!!

 As the title inclines we will be looking at yet another 55 invincy monk build. Probably overused but I figure one more guide on the topic wont hurt. The popular Mo/Me combo will NOT be used however. Our Monk will be Mo/Wa.

STATS



This is of course with the 5 supior runes and the Smiting head tat.

SKILLS



1. Sheild of Judgement - Elite or Spellbreaker - Elite
2. Protective Spirit
3. Bonnetti's Defense
4. Sprint
5. Live Vicariously
6. Balthazar's Spirit
7. Mending
8. Watchful Spirit

We will get into casting order later.

ARMOR & WEAPONS

1. Armor can be any type considering your taking 5 dmg reguardless...I however suggest tats for the increased energy.

2. With the -50 life cesta you will require a one handed weapon may I suggest a low requirement axe with enchantment mods such as the one below.



CASTING ORDER

Alright heres the biggie. As soon as you leave your town of choice cast Watchful Spirit followed by Mending. This +6 health regen is key.
Now that you have your Regen procede to your farming grounds.(Ill be using the troll cave outside droks as an example) Run towards the cave. Oh no the avicara are there! Cast Protective Spirit and sprint on through. The +6 life regen is more than enough to keep you alive. You have arrived at the cave. Wait untill you have at least 30 energy then cast Balthazar's Spirit and Live Vicariously. You should have the equivlant of 15 energy left. Run in and just before aggroing the trolls cast protective spirit.
Now you have 13 + trolls heading toward you. Go up and attack one of them. This gives you a steady stream of +12 health. Cast Sheild of Judgement and spam Protective spirit untill it wears off. When it does cast Bonnetti's Defense and watch your energy soar. When Bonnetti's ends cast Protective spirit and because of Balths, cast Bonnetti's again. Repeat this process untill Sheild is back up. Cast sheild and watch them die. Dont forget to maintain your protective spirit though!

This strategy works on Trolls, Ettins, and Griffons. If you decide you want to solo UW then have at it. IF you want to go to UW with a SS necro switch out ur SOJ with Spellbreaker and take some points out of Smiting and put it into Divine Favor, NOT TO MANY. Well weather you use this guide or not it was fun writing so Greets and Happy Holidays. ^^

nice guide, one tiny problem though.. i wouldnt wanna use a blocking stance such as bonettis defence against ettins, their "irresistible blow" would knock u over, and that could be a bit irritating if u have a hurry to cast lets say protective spirit.

if you take out SoJ, where are you going to get any dmg from because on your guild, SoJ was your only way to get off any dmg.

@ jOcz - You underestimate Bonnettis. Trolls knock you down also but I have no problem whatsoever killing them.

@ Devils Incarnation - I suggested taking out SoJ if your gonna roll with a SS necro. SS is the damage dealer and Spellbreaker is just another skill to keep the dying nightmares from screwing you over.

great job with this guide! The only suggestion I would have is to switch out Live Vicariously for Healing Breeze. But, I prefer to keep at least 1 arrow of energy regen. =)

Trust me with 13+ trolls hitting you and you getting 1 energy every time they hit you, energy is no problem. But thats up to personal preference I guess.

I love the guide and cant wait to build my 55hp monk.... But could there be substitutes for the superiors cause I dont got that much gold right now could i use majors or minors? And where in the hell do you get the tats from?

No the runes are REQUIRED. Only way to get to 55 life. Also the tats are in droknars forge however you can use whatever armor you like.

Yes, 5 Superior Monk runes are a requirement, as is the -50 life off-hand item. Without them, you can not achieve 55 life and you won't be able to use the build effectively. The "tats" that he refers to are Ascetics Design monk gear. I highly recommend getting them from Lion's Arch instead of Droknar's Forge if you are going to be using them for farming. The cost is greatly less, the energy is the same, and since the AL of them don't matter (you can't take more than 5 damage per hit with Protective Spirit no matter what your armor is when your life is 55).

U can get the off-hand from the quest in Ascolon from Symone the Scribe. (Cities of Ascolon)Thats the name. And he is behind War Master Tydus up the stairs take a left.

Its the grim cesta reward from the cities of ascalon quest. it hasnt been nerfed...however i think they changed it from a monk to a necro offhand. The -50 req no necro attributes tho so it doesnt matter.

Well you get a rune for each stat type then get one extra one(usually the cheapest one) for your helm so you get the extra -75 life. This is the only way to get your life to 55 (with the -50 grim cesta of course).

why get 5 monk runes? They cost an assload, right now healing is 15k and the others hover at around 9.5k
Best bet, IMO, is to scrounge up one of each rune, and a sup tactics. Much cheaper, and might as well get the bonus to bonnettis, right?

Now that im thinking somewhat normal again, what about Blessed Aura, rather than Live Vicariously? Sure, you dont get the extra life from attacking, but even with your lvl5 prot prayers, it makes SoJ and Prot Spirit last 18% longer (22.47s), and with lvl13 prot and 3 favor (no points in tactics) it lasts (21s+15%) 24.15s.

Also, this should affect SoJ, so sacrifice a few points in prot, to gain an offensive boost.

(I've done one of the attribute quests, so you could boost this even more if you want to)

i just have a quick question...did they nerf the method of quest to get the -50 hp item? because i checked out the Cities of Ascalon Quest, and the Ascalon Census from Symon...and both quests give you items that up your energy, not lower your health. So if anyone has an idea about where to get the item now (besides buying it for tons of gold off someone) I'd love the help, thanks.

You are right. I personally use the blessed aura combo in a guide ill be releasing rather soon. However i find the +6 health regen is more noob friendly and easier to deal with.

The quest is given to you by the cities of Ascalon quest. When you accept the quest it only shows you the energy the items give not their bonus stats. When you finish the quest the grim cesta has the -50 mod on it.

harrow: Ive basically being trying the cave outside of droks nonstop for a while, and blessed aura works wonders. But in the case of avicaras (annoying birds -.-) and mass groups of trolls, live vicariously is a must... you just cant gain health with +6 regen while taking that many 5 damage hits. Personally, ive gotten rid of sprint for it. I dont fins much use for sprint, at least with the cave being so close to the spawn point. But yea, its freaing awesome. Another idea is to drop the level of smiting prayers a hair. I find with mine (13 or 14... too lazy to check), it brings trolls and avicaras down to about 1/6th hp per SoJ, when really it only needs to damage them over halfway. yup...

Seraphant: First off im glad you found this guide useful...makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Second. Look at my Solo UW build. Thats the build i use for trolls some times. 1 SoJ and trolls are dead. Sprint is necessary for getting the avaicara to stop following you. And yes..for this build live vicariously is a must.

that is a very nice build....I did follow the exact build except I'm using only 4 RUNES!!
Actually my monk is only at lvl 17 and the total hp is 70 but it still works. Thanks to avicara I died and have 15% DP and my hp goes to only 7 hp!! and it works very fantastic..

*my monk killed those trolls slower due to low attribute points (lvl 17)

now I know 55 monk is supposed to be the shit but is there a better way? i mean you get the 5th rune that dose nothing but - 75 life, stupid i think that extra 75 life could help. so I was wondering if there is a way around that.

You can have an invinci monk without Shield of Judgement, BUT you will need someone else to kill.

I would like to add my feedback on getting your hp to 55. It is "preferred" to have all the Superior runes, however is not required. You can do what I did, until I got my 5 Superior Runes. Just go out and die, like in Droks (while troll farming), I would go to the east and go off and die and take the death penalty. Do this 2 or 3 times depending on your runes, and you will have less than 55HP. Many times i had either 31, 17, or 9 hp depending on my rune setup and using or not using my -50HP item. And to be honest I think using the 17HP method works alot better than the 55HP, because your given 17 hits at 1HP per hit vs. 11HP at 55HP. Hope this helps. I used that method until I had enough cash to buy tat armor and all Superior Runes.

Don't forget you have 5 pieces of armor. Many people forget your head piece.
