Black Curtain: Solo RT VWK Pillow Stuffer

This is a normal mode farm that’s incredibly easy and farms several ‘worth while’ materials that can really make getting armor or money easier.

3 Key Materials Farmed:

Plant Fibers: Used to craft Damask, Damask = Money
Scales: Used in many sets of armor, high trader price = money
Feathers: Used in many sets of armor, insane trader price = more money

Other Popular Materials from Salvaged Items:
Bones, Cloth, Tanned Hides, Wood Planks, Glittering Dust and Iron Ingots.

Farm generates about 4-5k an hour in just coins.

Key Monsters:

Reed Stalkers: Drops Plant Fibers & Abnormal Seeds (Plant Fibers)
Caromi Tengu Elite: Drops Feathers & Scalps (feathers)
Bog Scale Blighters: Drops Bog Scales (scales)

Skill Template: Standard VWK RT Build. Rt/Me

Read Solo Ritualist, How To for more detail on skills and methods.

1. Vengful Was Khanhei 2. Arcane Echo 3. Soothing Memories (won’t need) 4. Vengeful Weapon 5. Channeling 6. Sympathetic Visage 7. Ancestor’s Visage 8. Physical Resistance

Attributes:
Restoration: 16 (Superior Rune Required)
Illusion: 10 (or 9)
Inspiration: 8 (or 9)

Favored Weapons / Armor:
Totem Axe w/ Offhand.

Max Armor, no additional runes needed for this run.
Basic Vigor Rune Suggested, but also not needed.

The Run:

Because this is being done in Normal Mode, you’ll be farming Level 17 monsters, they don’t do a lot of damage and a lot of mistakes can happen without being punished by death. Basically what I’m saying is beginner Ritualist players that have prophesies can do this run.

Start out by taking out the first group of Reed Stalkers, then turn west and start your South-West run. You can basically go anywhere in Black Curtain with this build and be safe, even taking down the tree monsters and the monk boss'.

Strafe back and forth while heading south to pick up the pop up mobs of Reed Stalkers, they are often accompanied by Spined Aloe (Monks) which heal and are sometimes a real difficulty to wipe if there are more than 3 in a small area. I usually don’t waste my time with them.

Positioning Management = Wherever mobs are.
Energy Management = None Issue.
Health Management = Common Sense.

Basically, follow the map provided:

Because of different spawns you might need to go a bit more one way or the other to catch all of the mobs, it’s not a big time devourer.

I like to end the run at the last “pad” of Reed Stalkers. This should take 10 minutes.

Cautions:

Bog Skales will strip key enchantments if you’re inexperienced. Be sure to group them, quickly cast Arcane Echo, then immediately VWK. If there’s a massive group of them on you, feel free to cast a visage as it will not be stripped.

Other Caution: watch your health! Skales use Putrid Explosion on their fallen comrades and if there’s 12 dead ones on the ground and you pick up aggro of another 6, they’ll use Putrid and if you’re low on health you might die. This shouldn’t happen though; I really needed to play badly for that to occur.

In Ending:

Follow the map provided and you’ll be fine, if you want to explore and make your own run then that’s awesome!

Follow this link: Here to see why Rt Farming is good, even in NM.

I can currently afford to buy another set of FoW at the rare material trader basically because of this build and it's different variations, but i want to hit that 1mil mark again before i do that, which will be soon ;)

Farming Materials and selling them is huge. See Trading Guide for more details, though a bit out of date in pricing, the theory is still the same.

Enjoy! Again, this is really, really, really easy and farms some nice materials worth some scratch, with some practice you'll be grabbing massive mobs and really speeding it up and getting into that set of armor or weapon you've been wanting!

I am so trying this

  Beau Casteel on 04/12/08 21:35

Just wondering, do you think a 330 rit could possibly do this same farm? (my rt/mo is far from ascended :s)

  Beau Casteel on 04/12/08 21:43

nvm, just realized what would happen.. good guide btw

  mason717 on 04/12/08 21:50

Really nice guild.
I've wanted a place to farm feathers, for my cons, for a while

Time to dust off my rit. :P

  mason717 on 04/12/08 21:55

BTW you didn't say, NM or HM?
I'm guessing NM though.

  mason717 on 04/12/08 22:00

Nvm... sorry for so many posts also.

  maddog199 on 04/13/08 04:44

I would like to note something:
If you could get your hands on a place where to get alot of Glittering Dust you can use the Plant Fibers to craft Bolts of Damask (460 Rare Material Merchant, 200gp 5 plant fibers and 5 glittering dust required to create -> meaning 260 profit).

Beside's that, nice guide.

  Laidy Rayne on 04/13/08 09:33

Nice guide, I'll hafta try this when my rit gets into Prophecies.

  Paramounts_of_Odin on 04/13/08 10:44

Amber and Jade weapons salvage into piles of glittering dust. If you go warden farming with the vengeful build Everdream has realesed ages ago, I'm sure you could achieve your Damask needs.

  Belshazaarswrath on 04/13/08 15:31

My first two drops were gold drops...WOOT

I actually got tired of this farm pretty quick BUT I did find another rit farm I can sue the same build for that is REALLY fun! Thanks ED!

aye, 2nd sentance refers to damask, that's what i use this farm for is making damask. =)

once people are a little more advanced, you can explore further towards the southeast of the Black Curtain where you will find Fog Nightmares and Wraiths that drop a lot of dust. Avg run = 150 dust, my last run was 233 after salvaging remenants.

fog's are a bit trickier, but even the L28 Boss Shadow of Death can be wasted with this build.

i merely posted the bare-bones super easy part of Black Curtain for beginners to generate some money and get used to farming.

that works too =)

to Bel, yea this is a bit of a grind, Fog's add some excitement, also Forest Minotaurs, and seeing how big of a group of Bog's you can round up. 27 is my best so far. LOL!

thanks...was looking for a decent farming spot to get feathers
made about 8k before the boredom set in.
now, to find another spot.

  Blazings on 04/14/08 02:40

Awesome guide as usual. Too bad my lvl 20 surviving rit is still camping somewhere in EotN with some leet weapons.. they just bore me a little in PvE =\

  pOintstiveise on 04/14/08 09:08

Reed stalkers arent hard in HM, also try trolls and grawls outside droks, easy and fast. The minoutaurs outside Ice Tooth cave. Insects in Nightfall. Stone Elementals outside sardelac sanitarium HM.

RT for farming <3

RT for rest :(

  Chrisworld on 04/15/08 15:46

This might make me delete my pvp rit and make a pve :)

  elbonian warlord on 04/17/08 13:55

Is it really that hard to look at the pictures and put them onto your bar yourself?!

Major Hinata Fan on 04/20/08 15:50

How many runs did it take u 2 get ur money for fow? probably a lot i'm guessing.

Just wondering cause i'm planning on getting a set and have 37 and 25 shards...just takes so long farming them when ur monk don play very often haha.

Btw has any else noticed how many virus's this site gives u? almost everytime i come here AVG says there is several trojun virus's found.

  bo fairfieild on 05/01/08 13:56

Is this doable with a modified W/Rt build?(like the UW build)?
