This is a PvP build that I feel will shine brightest in an organized setting; unfortunately all of my test data was in RA. But I think that if it can succeed amongst unorganized strangers, then if you are actually working together it could be great. So I’m going to say this is a team build, but whatever the rest of the team is, is up to you.

The build focuses on using your Elite, Rage of the Ntouka, to fully charge your adrenal skills before the fight even starts, this includes the pivotal skill Anthem of Envy, which if used correctly can greatly increase the effects of a spike. It also utilizes the IAS Flail and the Armor Penetration of Strength to kick out some great DPS. Remedy signet and supply you with some survivability and you can inflict devastating conditions like Deep wound and Burning.

Skills:

Equipment:

*note Major Strength rune is required for 13, which is the breaking point for 6 adren.

Templates:

Skills: OQkjEplsJOA2LMf1CHkVwxbBAA
Equipment: Pk5RRP7nC/YIqGXbqGhWPD1OjWPJLpimOFSfgWPDrvhWP9E

How to Use:

-Use Rage of Ntouka to fully charge bar before fight even begins. Note that Rage of Ntouka has a 10 second cool down time before it won’t effect you.

-You keep adrenaline for 20 seconds without making a hit so you will have plenty of time to hang on to your adrenaline. Wait until right before the spike to use Anthem of envy (duration of 10 seconds). You can immediately follow it with Vicious attack, or hit once and follow with Burning Spear. Note: AoE only effects attack skills.

- Try and keep Flail at all time, the 33% IAS will greatly add to your DPS and allow you to maintain high adrenal levels. The 33% speed slow down, won’t really affect you because of your ranged capabilities. (sorry no cancel stance for the cry babies)

-This should be pretty obvious but ill talk about it anyways. Combine Go For The Eyes and Vicious attack to do nice damage and inflict a deep wound. GftE activates literally immediately and effects your next attack, not attack skill. So you have to be careful to not use it before Vicious Attack. A trick I use is to actually click Vicious attack first, and while you are going through the attack animations THEN click Go for the Eyes. Hope that helps with timing.

-Ok, boom. That’s probably as big damage as you’ll get from a 1 handed weapon. I’ve hit for over 110 before. If I can do a little math for you here, it’d like to grind out your best possible hit.
27 x 1.35 x √2 = ~51
+18
+21
=~91
+33% Armor Penetration (60x.67=40.2AL)
91x1.4 = ~127.5

So technically I figure you can hit for 128 maximum. If you didn’t follow that. Pretty good for a 1 handed ranged weapon.

Closing notes:

Use Remedy signet to remove conditions like blind and weakness immediately. It free and only has a 1 sec activation, with 4 second recharge. Don’t be a jerk you can remove them pretty fast. Crippling, which is normally a very threatening condition can be pretty much ignored since you shouldn’t be moving much anyways.
Also, don’t be afraid to use Rage of the Ntouka mid fight to immediately recharge you skills, this can help you inflict a MASSIVE and sustained spike.
Use Anthem of Envy every time your target is above 50%
It won’t even trigger if they aren’t above 50%, so you can preemptively cast it if you suspect they will be healed.
Use your rez sig too jerk….

MUCH LOVE FROM
FUTUREMAN!

you don't have enough command stat to use your shield fully.....you should be using a strength shield instead.

no healing, no hex removal, no stance breaker or "cannot miss" skill.
always leery of builds that can't help themselves if they get cut off from the team monk.

  zero4eva on 03/06/08 22:07

i agree with clegane. its an awesome build. to inflict damage. Massive damage, but what would you do if your the target? you would even take more damage coming your way because your attributes dont meet the shields requirements.

  HackingHippie89 on 03/06/08 22:12

well...it kind of sucks outside of RA, im sorry to say but thats about the extent of it..doesnt even have self heal, id drop something for lions comfort considering the recent buff

  Future Man on 03/06/08 22:37

over sight on the command, very easily fixed with a str shield, no need to nit pick.

and this was made before the buffs/nerfs of the update
so please consider that hippie

i really see great cohesion with maybe a sin to spike in TA

  shawnus1 on 03/07/08 01:53

lol one of the site "pvp boys!" makes a pve wappa!!! :P

  Blazings on 03/07/08 04:08

Very nice guide and good explained, the only thing I'd like to see are the skill deions. I want to know the energy cost, casting time and recharge time so I can judge on wether I'm gonna try this build out =P
It also helps cus I'm in school atm and I can't test it out on GW so I can at least imagine how it works.
Again, nice explained guide and keep it up!

  Hardstrike on 03/07/08 05:04

Hm interresting, I don't play GW anymore but my few tips:
1) add a screen of the skllbare WITH health and energy on it, im not gonna calculate it with the runes.
2) explain the math better. I can follow the steps because I know all about it ;) but I can imagine many people can't follow it.

27 x 1.35 x √2 = ~51
+18
+21
=~91
+33% Armor Penetration (60x.67=40.2AL)
91x1.4 = ~127.5

27 = max dmg of spear,
1.35 = 15^50 mod or so + customized (20%) total 135% = 1.35
√2 = for critical hits
+18 = anthem of envy
+21 = Blazing spear.

+33% armor penetration is from 20% sundering mod + 13% from strength attribute.
Caster armor is 60, so 60 x (100% - 33% = 67, in math used as 0.67) = 40.2 armor rating on casters (in max conditions)

the damage of the attack (91) x the armor rating (60 = 100%, everything lower adds 1% per 1 armor, so thats 100+40.2; again in maths that is 1.402) So 91 x 1.402 = 127.5 as you say.
the only thing you forgot is you have a lieutenants insignia, that reduces the damage with 5%.
so 127.5 x 0.95 = 121.125 max dmg :)

for the rest, you rely too much on monks. take a defensive shout or so instead of remedy IMO

for the rest its nice :) GJ

  Deathaxe on 03/07/08 09:26

Build is nice, but why sup absorption? You're a warrior with ~96 AL, so why would you take SA rune? I'd say, ditch it for a Vitae rune. Also, you lack unblockable stuff, lack selfheal.

  Calypso_FtW on 03/07/08 13:10

sry don't like it
lacking selfheal etc aint important but i much rather prefer to use anthem of weariness, aswell as as cruel spear and barbed spear :)

  Brynden on 03/07/08 15:00

I don't even know how you can begin to think that +10 health is better than -3 damage per attack. That's just ridiculous. Superior Absorption > Vitae.

  Future Man on 03/07/08 19:22

Thanks for all the comments so far.
They really help, honest!! (like the shield WHHHHOOOOOPS!!!)

Thanks hardstrike, I didn;t want to bog the guide down with that, but its absolutely right.

Few things,
I'm not too worried about people attacking me in PvP because
1) im a warrior
2) you have 116 AL so uh, you take about 30% damage anyways. -5 if they hit you in the chest.

so there is my defensive skill
but remedy is interchangeable so feel free to plug in whatever you want there.

Hey i also found another PvP build that does massive damage, but has no self heal
no unblockable attacks,
and no defense

Wow that one must be not worth playing either
http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/Build:W/E_Shock_Axe

ps. im flattered that im a pvpboy! yea!

  colonel1 on 03/08/08 01:30

vitae>absorbtion. and this is a good build for pvp. everybody saying you need self heal or some kind of skill to help out the team is... no, bad at pvp. it's a decent damage giving build for pvp.

  clegane816 on 03/08/08 01:47

Since I was the first to comment on the lack of self-heal on this build, I fell somewhat compelled to respond.
1. I never said it was not a good build. In fact, I've been using it today on jora helping me vanquish istan, And she's doing a fine job.
2. I only stated I personally feel uncomfortable going into Random Arenas without some sort of self heal. RA's mean you have no idea who you will be teamed up with, I have been on the recieving end of a mass wipe several times simply because my "all warrior team" gets set up against the "mesmers from hell team"
3. well, the shock axe build does have shock(unblockable attack with knockdown bonus), disrupting chop(interrupt and skill shutdown), and recommends using vamp weapon(self heal).

all in all, I like your build about as much as I like the shock axe build......Great for Team Arenas, risky for Random Arenas.

  Rogue on 03/08/08 02:05

I don't get why you wouldn't just use a Paragon with Anthem of Fury [E] or Focused Anger [E] and Aggressive Refrain. You could pump your Spear Mastery to 15-16 and your leadership up, along with commmand and then run an energy attack too. IE spear of lightning. Then you have 3 spammable attack skills, unlimited energy and you don't have the limitations of Rage of The Notuka.

Paragon DPS has always been amazing, but you could buff this build concept even more I think. Also, GFTE is plenty to keep up your Aggressive Refrain permanently. You can use it basically every ~7 seconds if you're attacking, and if you're not attacking it means that you've prettymuch won already.

  fearofdoom on 03/08/08 09:57

Nice build. It had the deep wound that a dps needs.

But on the sup absorbtion topic, -3 is way better than 10 health. Thats -3 every time instead of some one wanding you and taking away that 10 health. Health is good for those blood spikes and shove spike but you don't know you are gonna face them are you? Thats my 2 cents.

  Faarr Seer on 03/08/08 11:58

i like but i'd chance sig of remedy for more attack skills, first warrior paragon i've liked ^^
good job
(ignore people tht say ya need self heals) ^^

  Riotpoll on 03/09/08 16:43

Sup Absorb only affects physical attacks, and nobody who is anybody at pvp attacks a warrior with a physical weapon. Which is part of the reason why sup absorb is dirt cheap these days compared to 100k+ in prophecies!
For that reason I'd also run a -% on blind shield ;-).

  Blazings on 03/12/08 15:18

I just tried this build and I must say.. IT'S ASS >:(
Didn't got one kill lol and I didnt exactly what you said in the guide.

  Mother Nature on 03/14/08 16:57

Ahh, so funny, the "pvp people of amp" well, to be honest, none of you can pvp, although some of you may try! Stick to pve. Oh, and I do agree, vitae>absorption, but I guess the pve nubs of amp think that: -3 DAMAGE IZ WAY 1337 IN URSAN TEAM!!

Did anyone care to read the top of the guide?

  Cocky Rocky on 03/16/08 01:01

although the build is questionable ( i think a paragon or more traditional warrior would be more effective for what your trying to get at) if you want to continue with this w/p thing I suggest running the new lions comfort it fits perfectly.

  majiger on 03/19/08 19:13

The guide is great and all, I presonally dont like the elite for my own reasons, but it is a better W/P build then the ones I've seen.

But one thing is I would like someone to explain, How 10hp is better then -3 dmg, Yes I know it's vs physical but considiring the amount of Sundering/Penetrating attack rangers there are in RA right now, that -3dmg seems oh so much more comforting then a measly 10hp.

IMO 10hp is nothing due to the fact that 1 wand/staff attack and its gone.

But thats just me
