M. Bison Zapper - Elementalist
After many, many failed attempts at creating a build to defeat M. Bison with my Ele, I’ve finally come up with something that works roughly 95% of the time (I think the other 5% is my error… I think…).
The build seems to work well for just about every person leading up to M. Bison. In fact, I was able to, in the first try after creating it, defeat M. Bison. I’ve had troubles with a few, including Alesia and Mhenlo. Tricks for them will be explained a bit later.
In order to complete the quest, you’ll need “Round 1: Fight” from Magni the Bison in Gunnar’s Hold.
Here is how the build is set-up:
Class: Elementalist/Any
Attributes and Skills:
NOTE: There is really no “best” creature to summon. I really like the look of the Mursaat, so choose what you like. I use a summoned creature to draw fire and cause a little extra damage… oh and to look cool!
Armour:
Use any max armour (don’t forget the Air headpiece) with the following Runes:
- Elementalist Rune of Superior Air Magic
- Elementalist Rune of Superior Energy Storage (could be Major) – I likes me energy!
- Rune of Major Vigor (could be whatever you have)
- Rune of Attunement
- Rune of Vitae
As far as insignias go, it’s really up to you. I run a set of armour with full Radiant and it works well.[/i]
Weapons/Equipment:
My weapon of choice is:
The Skybringer. I like the extra fast casting and the boost of health. Really, anything you’re comfortable with will work fine, but some faster casting time boosts are always welcome!
Template Code:

How it works:
This build is relatively simple and is based around spamming your spammable skills (Blinding Surge, Shock Arrow and Lightning Javelin) and keeping the opponent Blinded (especially warriors, dervishes, paragons and rangers) with Blinding Surge. Here’s the details:
Just before each round begins, position yourself in front of the gate and cast Air Attunement and Aura of Restoration. Now patiently wait for the round to begin. Once the gate opens, walk a few steps in and summon your creature. Make sure you move forward the few steps, otherwise your friend will end up caught behind the gate and rendered utterly useless (believe me, I’ve tried…).
From here on in, it’s rather simple. Begin spamming your skills. I usually run through Blinding Surge, Shock Arrow and Lightning Javelin, then hit the target with Gale. Use Glyph of Lesser Energy when needed to help to manage your energy. Keep an eye on your enchantments, if they fall, get them back up.
Don’t worry about spamming Gale too much. If you do this right, each round should last less than a minute, after which your energy will be returned to full and exhaustion will not become a problem. Also, Gale can be used effectively as an interrupt for some longer casting time spells, you just have to get your timing right!
Specific Advice for Specific Enemies:
Alesia
She is tough! Patience and persistence will get her down to where you can finish her off. You’ll want to try to interrupt any of her enchantments, particularly Healing Breeze. This will make your life a lot easier. This battle will run a while, so be prepared to run low on energy and recast your enchantments a few times.
Mhenlo
He can be a bit tricky as he’s running a 55 build. The couple of times I’ve faced him, I was lucky enough to interrupt one of his enchants with Gale. This is probably your best bet for defeating him. This may be another one of those long battles, so same advice as above.
Casters (Mesmers, Elementalists and Ritualists)
The trick with these folks is to spam your skills as quickly as possible and interrupt any skills that will help your opponent heal. The build doesn’t have too many problems with these folks.
Heavy-Hitters (Warriors, Assassins, Dervishes, Paragons and Rangers)
This build shuts these guys down completely. As long as you can keep them blinded, you’re laughing. Use your knockdown/interrupt to spoil their heals (e.g. Healing Sig) and you’re set.
M. Bison
Being that he is a Tank (and a good one at that), it’s best to keep him blinded as much as possible. Usually I try to knock him down before I hit him with Blinding Surge, that way I can ensure he’s blinded when he starts swinging again. Make sure you’ve got Aura of Restoration up, because if an attack sneaks through, you’ll be in a world of hurt. Mr. Bison takes a little longer to defeat than others of his ilk, but you shouldn’t have a problem getting him down before your Enchantments expire!
Variations and Other Comments:
- As mentioned earlier, you can substitute any of the Asuran Summoning skills in. I just like the Mursaat’s sexy good looks!
- I tinkered with other skills like Pain Inverter (Asuran) and various other spammable Air Magic skills. They have potential, but there’s something about this combination that I really like and works well for me.
- Although I haven’t tried it, I would assume that you’d have no problem running this build with other Primaries as well (e.g. N/E or P/E). Give it a shot and let us know how it turns out!
Thanks!
I hope this build will help you out. M. Bison loomed in the background far too long for me and I’m glad I’ve finally come up with something that will take him down with relative ease. If you do find something that works better, have some constructive suggestions or need some help with the build, please hit me up here or in-game (The Beano).
GOOD LUCK!
