The trouble I went through, heading off towards Glint attempting to kill her, and not knowing how I should setup to be the most effective. Hopefully someone else can benefit from my multiple failed attempts and ideas before I found out what I should be doing and what skills I should be using as a Mesmer when fighting Glint. First I'll discuss the problems, then my recommendations on how to go about fighting Glint as a Mesmer.
First off, it seems that any negative condition or hex only lasts half of their stated time against Glint. Meaning a Mesmer's Signet of Midnight will only last around 7-8 seconds on Glint despite saying that both you and your target will be blinded for 15 seconds. So if you are trying to keep a certain hex or condition on Glint, say HP degen, then expect to constantly refresh said hex/condition twice as often as before so energy might be a problem.
Second is the next dreadful problem for casters, there is Crystal Breath. This skill takes away 1 energy regen and causes exhaustion(though seems to last longer then normal exhaustion but that may just be because of fighting). This is a spell, and a hex spell at that. Glint seems to love casting this around once a fight begins. Monks are usually too busy to cast Remove Hex on others, or it takes too long due to the 7 seconds recharge time and Glint reapplying said Hex all the while. If you bring along Shatter Hex, you risk emptying your energy supply too fast, and not hitting the mages who require Crystal Breath to be removed in order to do damage to Glint.
Third comes Crystal Hibernation everyone talks about. First this is not a spell, so Power Drain, Power Leak, and Power Spike do not work on disrupting this skill. This seems to act more like a Ranger's Preperation then a spell or a stance. So Migraine and Arcane Conundrum do nothing as well in increasing this already long casting time. Cry of Frustration, Leech Signet, and Blackout all can interrupt this skill, but the hard part is Glint, from experience, can use this ability seemingly every 10 seconds. Thats half the time Cry of Frustration needs to recharge and four times the amount for Leech Signet to do the same. Blackout on the other hand can easily interrupt this skill, unfortunately you must be in melee range to use this skill as well, and that leads to possible AoEs(I believe a stance Glint uses) from Glint or being directly attacked if someone isn't holding the egg.
Beginning with the first problem, how do deal with the problem that Glint is only effected half the duration of stated Hexes and Negative Conditions. For us Mesmers, there is the Mantra of Persistance. A Stance that lasts about 80 seconds with 12 Inspiration and any Illusion Hex you cast during this time lasts about 84% longer. If you pop this stance, then start casting illusion hexes away, Hexes will last up to just a second or two shorter then their normal times. So bringing along Conjured Phantasm and Phantom Pain no longer drain your energy pool to keep them up constantly. Also, if you have elite skills such as Crippling Anguish, that with the previous two hexes will allow maximum hp degen on Glint. That should take care of HP degen. I would point out that I am rather adamant about Mesmer Illusion HP degen rather then another job, such as Ranger or Necromancer. Ranger's Poison Arrow Elite is actually welcome since a ranger can keep that up on Glint alone, though thats only 4 pips of hp degen. Necromancer's main stay of hp degen is rather problamatic though. Life Siphon, Faintheartedness, and Parasitic Bond are the only hp degen a necromancer can keep on Glint constantly, if we aren't worrying about energy. Sure us Mesmer can't keep Phantom Pain up either, but actually I want that to fall before being able to reapply it. Weakness does come in handy.
The second problem, Crystal Breath, is actually a rather a gift to Mesmers rather then a burden. This nasty AoE hex spell cannot be copied by Mesmer skills, just as Arcane Thievery doesn't work on Glint. Inspired Hex becomes the BEST removal of this hex for your team! Not only do you gain rather then loose energy each cast(if you don't have Crystal Breath on you at least), but there is almost no recharge to casting again and only takes a second to cast! Inspired Hex should be the spell to use to get rid of Crystal Breath when facing Glint.
The third and most commonly talked about problem, Crystal Hibernation. As I said earlier, only Cry of Frustration, Leech Signet, and Blackout works in interrupting this technique. Blackout works due to the fact the skill isn't used until after someones finishes casting said skill. Truthfully, the best chance at stopping Crystal Hibernation from repeated attempts as a Mesmer is to go with Blackout and ONLY using it when Glint starts using CH, pray you get to her fast enough, then run away immediately afterwards hoping Glint doesn't think you taste good with ketchup. If Blackout's tempting of becoming snackfood doesn't sound good, then there is always using two skills, both Cry of Frustration and Leech Signet, and praying Glint dies or doesn't use Crystal Hibernation a fourth time in a minute and you have enough energy for CoF.
My choice in skills as a Mesmer when going up against Glint?
Mantra of Persistance
Ether Feast
Conjured Phantasm
Phantom Pain
Migraine/Crippling Anguish(I took Migraine with me due to its Recharge timer and Cost)
Cry of Frustration(If another interrupter is with me, otherwise Blackout)
Inspired Hex
Resurrection Signet(Energy Tap if Resurrection Signet isn't required)
You will be completely useless against the Spiders with Hex Breaker in the Mesmer Boss area, though Migraine is strangely effective against the Golems/Elementals in the Elemental area. Aftershock takes longer for them to cast then you getting up from Shock's Knockdown, and CoF is best casted when the Golems/Elementals are running straight at your group on first aggro, it prevents thier opening Shock.
Oh yes, if a Ranger is bringing Poison Arrow(elite) then you should be able to drop Migraine/Crippling Anguish for a different Elite of your choosing. If you don't need either the Res Sig or Migraine, I suggest bringing along Mantra of Recall and Energy Burn.
I hope this guide helps any Mesmers out there trying to fight Glint, and learning from my many mistakes.
