Critical Temple Sin

Hey all,
After remaking my assassin I wanted to give him a nice build with a high critical hit rate. After some testing and doing some high-end area's(FoW/dungeons) with this build I came to the conclusion that this is a build I want to share with you all :)
This is my first guide so comments are welcome.

The Skills & Attributes:

If you don't got Critical Agility, it's not a real problem but faster attacking will help you in the fight so try to get an attack speed increasing skill.

You don't have to get all the armor upgrades the same as I have but some extra energy is usefull because you use some skills which require pretty much energy. Also you don't have to use exactly the same daggers but 15%(while enchanted) is usefull because you use 2 enchants and zealous is nice for some energy regain.

Why these skills+armor upgrades?:
Critical Eye: This skill is easy to keep up and can't be removed(only if you die). Critical Eye will raise your critical hit chance with 16% and with about 22% from dagger mastery and 1% for each critical strike attribute(so another 16%), this will make a total of 54% to land a critical hit.
Unsuspecting Strike: This is a great skill for opening your attack chain. This skill does great damage if used on a target with his health above 90%. Also u can go on with the attack combo because its a lead attack.
Fox Fangs:This skill will also deal some good damage and another great thing: It can't be blocked! :). After this you use a dual attack because this is an off-hand attack.
Temple Strike:This is good to shut down both casters and melee proffesions because of the daze and blind condition it gives. It has a pretty long recharge time(20 seconds) so use this on the most annoying enemy in the group. After this you use a dual attack because this is an off-hand attack.
Twisting Fangs:In combination with Temple Strike: heavy condition pressure on the target and this skill will also deal some nice damage.
Death Blossom:Usefull when standing in a huge group. This skill will hit more foes at once, looks like and AoE skill.
Critical Defenses:This is to protect yourself. 10 seconds duration looks short but it will refresh every critical strike so it will be up almost always. It's an enchant so it can be removed by foes.
Critical Agility:This will speed up your attacks and it will, just like critical defenses, be up almost always. It also gives a armor bonus which is usefull.

Armor Upgrades:
I choose for some energy upgrade because there are some skills in the build which require pretty much energy. Also armor upgrades for the few times you will be hit.
Superior runes to get the attributes higher for more damage and critical hit rate and some extra health is never wrong imo :).

Usage:
This build is pretty easy to use. Make sure you always got Critical Eye on you for the extra crits. Before you start to fight, so when you are about 5 seconds away from battle, use Critical Defenses so you won't be hit very often by melee foes and use Critical Agility to speed up your attacks and some more armor. Now you can pick a target. You can pick the annoying warrior who is trying to kill your monks or kill one of the spellcasters: it's all your choice.
When you got a target, start your attack chain with Unsuspecting strike for a nice amount of damage. Now you can choose between Fox Fangs and Temple Strike. If your target is a hard hitter or an annoying spellcaster, you can use Temple Strike and make the target useless for about 11 seconds. If the target isn't that kind of bit problem, you can better use Fox Fangs for damage.
Now use, or Twisting Fangs or Death Blossom. Twisting Fangs is really usefull to put some more conditions on the target and the deep wound effect will get your target down pretty quick. Death Blossom is great in a bigger group of opponents because it hits more then 1 target.
Your target will or dead, or almost dead if it isn't a boss with high hp or when he gets healed. You can just hit sometimes without using skills or finish the target with another Unsuspecting Strike.
When the target is dead, you can pick your next target and start again with the attack chain.
And remember, keep up Critical Eye and check if your enchantments are still on while fighting :)

some good points:
- you deal a lot of damage
- good energy management
- High crit rate
- 75% Block
- attack speed increase

some bad points:
- any anti-melee stuff
- enchantment removal
- Spells will still hit hard

Hitting suits of armor with unsuspecting strike and the total damage in 3 minutes at master of damage

I really like it that since i posted all the stuff i knew about critical hits there have been so many builds using critical hits so far ;)

Nice idea, tho crit hit rate aint that high, maby way of the master instead one of the attack skills? just a suggestion.

and i can't find what your hp / energy level is.
2 superior runes and just a minor vigor, thats not good, your health will be 360/400 or something? thats way to low.

thats all i gotta say :) nice idea tho

Good idea and nicely presented. Not the best spike out there but with daze and cover conditions you can reak havok on spell casters.

In regrads to the runes I would have to agree with the above. Use at least a major vigor and get rid of one, or both, of the superior runes. In PvE you may be ok with one but in PvP you need as much health as you can get as you are usually a hot target.

you can't use way of the master with daggers, and you have 40%+ crit counting DM,CS and critical eye, so you will probably always hit critical within the 10 seconds critical defenses gives you...

also i'd re recommend flurry if you don't have critical agility as flurry only takes away 2-4 damage when using daggers.

overall the build is pretty good i geuss, but i don't think you need critical eye as you have an attacks boost(which means more chance on a crit) and more than enough crit chance without it. i'd switch critical eye for mending touch or something so blind won't screw you over as much.

one of the better builds i've seen lately keep it up :)

  thaskippy on 10/24/07 15:36

ohyeh drop the 2 sups, 2 majors are fine and probably won't damage your skills that much anyways...

  zeramoth on 10/24/07 15:41

omg i love sins so this build is a must to try

  Lost Noob on 10/24/07 15:53

yay u ppl give good comments :P
lets answer some questions and comments now:

my hp is 400/energy 31. the hp can be low in pvp but...i dont play pvp xD so this is designed for Pve mostly.

good point. blind is really annoying when you got it on you so mending touch will work good :)

hope this will clear up a bit :)

Golden fang strike can be used over fox fangs and then you can also swap out twisting fangs for something else because you already have the DW. Crit eye probably isn't necessary either.

  Hydras First on 10/24/07 16:12

I dunno, if a necro has enchant removal (which, like, they do always now)
your screwed. Other than that it seems like a good concept

  Wyat_hawke on 10/24/07 16:19

Psst, there is this mesmer skill you know? Epidemic, yes yes? Seriously, any PvE assassin using temple strike should bring epidemic... They're just made for each others.

As for the build itself, why go with Fox Fangs over Wild Strike? Both are unblockable, and using Wild let's you spam DB twice as often? I don't see what's bad with that, so I don't understand why you are still using fox fangs.

On a personal preference (meaning, this is optional), use GFS instead of Unsuspecting Strike, simply because it is cheaper to use. The real damage lies in the Dual Attacks anyways, not really in the lead- or offhand attacks.

And again, every time a gw player equips 2 superiour runes on his/her armor pieces, God kills a kitten. (Bottom line, unless you are 55hping, never use more than 1 superiour)

The guide is good a good startoff, and can easily be tweaked to suit the needed purpose. It's about time we got some good guides here now ^_^

It doesn't matter. Sins should always have mroe than 500 Hp because they have low protection that can easily be shattered, and they only have 70 armor with no other +armor stuff. All others have 70 armor, and a ton of protection stuff and warriors have 80 armor + extra vs physical.

Also i don't see how you can possibly have enough enregy for this. I would grab an enchantment and take golden lotus.

One more thing is that since in PvE you want to kill a lot, this build doesn't do that. It kills one person and can shut them down. take Wild strike and golden fox for a repeatable combo and use temple strike when you need it.

You do not need 16 dagger mastery and 15 critical strikes. Thats final. You need 14-15 dagger mastery and 13 critical strikes. +3 in an attribute isn't that great for melee. It's really just a waste of health which you DO need.
