Ok, this is my first ever guide, so if it is bad feel free to beat me in the face if you ever see me in real life!

So as long as thats out the way lets get cracking!

Where you need to be

Ok, first you need to get to the Central transfer Chamber. Once you are there you will have access to Glint's Challenge. This can be accessed via Consular Brand Oakencask. This is something you can do solo so you wont have to worry about hero/hench messing things up.

The Equipment

As you can see here my armor is not the greatest. But it wont have to be as you won't face any enemies above level 20. The only essential piece you will need is the totem axe.

The Skills

By looking at the skills above you will see how essential the Totem Axe is. Combined with Glyph of Swiftness Obsidian Flesh can be kept up constantly.

The Enemies

When you enter the challenge you will only be able to beat the first wave of enemies. And they consist of:

Destroyer of Thoughts Lvl 20
Energy Burn
Mirror of Disenchantment
Shatter Enchantment
Shatter Hex
Spiritual Pain
Power Leak
Energy Surge (E)

Destroyer of Hordes Lvl 10
Splinter Shot
Barrage (Elite)
Inner Fire (Monster Skill)
(For 10 seconds, you gain 30 Health every second)

Destroyer of Souls Lvl 15
Spirit Rift
Lamentation
Vengeful Weapon
Ancestors Rage
Inner Fire (Monster Skill)

These are the only skills i have seen them use while doing the run. Which is why it is imperative to keep Obsidian Flesh up at all times. The only skill you should notice is Splinter Shot which will go up by the hundreds on your damage count. The only other skill to watch out for is Vengeful Weapon. Even with all your enchants up this can quickly kill you if it is only you and a Destroyer of Hordes left. They will constantly spam it and it takes around 50 damage each time. So be wary of this.

The Run Itself
Ok, talk to Consular Brand Oakencask and enter the challenge. You will start at the top of the map. Immediately run down the hill and get yourself slap bang in the middle of the Dwarves as shown below.

Once your there simply... do nothing. For the first minute you have to let all the dwarves die, so the destroyers shouldn't come anywhere near you. Once you hit the minute mark you will need to get all your enchants up. Basically put them all up except Sliver Armor. This is also where Glyph of Swiftness comes in. This skill combined with the Totem Axe allows you to have Obsidian Flesh up constantly, The 25% recharge from GoS and the +20% enchants from the Totem Axe will keep it up long enough for the skill to fully recharge (it's a beautiful thing when skills work in harmony). It's also important you keep an eye on it so it doesn't drop, as soon as it does the Destroyer of Thoughts will be on you like flies on a freshly laid turd on a hot summers day. They will use shatter enchantment and its all down hill from there I'm afraid. So i cant stress enough on how you must keep an eye on that.

So keep those enchantments up until around the 3 minute mark. At this point you should have something that looks like this,

Ok, now with the killing part. Walk to the right mob first, slot yourself right into the middle of them and use Sliver Armor. this should take down the first mob pretty quickly. And if your lucky, you should get a few cores drop. Remember to keep the enchants up and then head to the second mob. Do the exact same again and they should all be dead pretty quickly. When you get to the last Destroyer you will probably have to use Sliver Armor twice as there is only the one attacking you, so it may be a tad slow to finish. Here's a quick action shot.

(Imagine 'Eye Of The Tiger' in the background for added awesomeness)

Once they are all dead simply go collect your cores then /resign. While farming these i usually had 3 cores drop per run. The most was 6 and the least was 0 (which only happened once luckily), so you should expect to get at least 2 per run. Destroyer Cores apparently only have a 6% chance of dropping, but I don't know the exact number of destroyers killed during the first wave of the run. So grab yourself a calculator and let me continue to be lazy.

Hopefully after enough farming you should end up with a set of these,

Pros
- Quickest way i currently know to farm cores
- I earned over 40k while farming by selling items
- Golds will also drop to help towards the Wisdom title
- Cores can also be sold for around 1k

Cons:
- Can get become a bit of a grind
- You may get 0-1 core on some runs
- Can take time to complete the run, sometimes up to 8 mins

Well, that's it, this is my first guide so any feedback will be much appreciated, any questions or thoughts on the build just pm me through GA

Thanks for reading

-Stan Zhao-

1. why 8 air magic? breakpoint for gos is 4
2. why such a weird focus? ;/
3. why left the e-storage at 6, not at 7 :p
4. why e-attu? mantra + ss gives you enough energy, put dmg skill instead
5. very nice guide anyways, clear and lots of good pictures ;] good job!

wahey first comment! :p

  stanzhao1 on 09/23/07 12:08

hmmm...

1+3. the only thing i can think of is i may have been toying with the attr before i took the screenie. so... yeah

2. that is the only focus i have in storage thats half decent, so... any focus will do really.

4. when you get down to the last few enemies mantra + ss wont really help you at all. so its good to have for that little bit of extra help.

but... it's my first guide so there are things i will look out for and try explain if i do another guide, thanx for your comment :)

Demon Slaya of God on 09/23/07 12:21

it looks as if u can do his with a r/e using this http://www.pvxwiki.com/wiki/build:r/e_obsidian_ranger
nice guide, when i get there with my ranger i'll probably do similar with the build i just listed =p

damm forgot something its not the totaly the same as the first post but if u read on someone says using mantra of earth is handy...

  stanzhao1 on 09/23/07 14:36

hmmm, there are probably many different variations of this build. but i dont think the little twitches in skills will make too much of a difference. i think it will be different in hm tho.

as i said, your 3 enemies are lvl 10, 15, and 20. so its not to hard.

Major Hinata Fan on 09/23/07 16:22

demon slaya, that link doesn't take you to anything. just thought i'd let u know.

  Albino Monktress on 09/23/07 20:48

i do this also but as a monk
same build as 55 first ciy farm just gotta cover prot spirit and mystic reg w/ toher enchnts
u can take more w/ ur build than mine
gj

  TheBeano on 09/23/07 22:44

Just a thought... with the armour buff nerf a while back, wouldn't having Armor of Earth and Obsidian Flesh be redundant? Can you operate without Armour of Earth? If so you could replace it with another damage skill... perhaps an AoE. I'll give it a shot and report back.

  TheBeano on 09/23/07 23:02

alrighty... just tested it with a few lvl 20+ creatures - seems to work well enough with just obsidian flesh, stone striker, mantra and stoneflesh. you can leave out armour of earth in my opinion.

also, the 9 in air would be for the effectiveness of glyph of swiftness - you only need it at 4 to get the next 2 spells recharging 25% faster...

  stanzhao1 on 09/24/07 03:03

ah, good point beano. while using gos, it letsme use it 3 times, while this skill only says 2. i dont know why this is, but it may have something to do with the skill points being high and there beung a glitch.

as i mentioned above the screenie was taken while i was messing with the attr. but yeah, i'll look into gos more too se how many times i can use it.

  kielus_ on 09/24/07 04:36

if that you don't need armor of earth is right then i'd take intensity just for the fun of it, or gole for e-management or even auspicious incantation.
seems that gos is in fact bugged with display wrong number of spells

r/rt's ftw! :p

  kielus_ on 09/24/07 05:23

okay checked on myself (did i say the guide is lovely? :p)
1. you dont have energy problems (even with 1 mob alive)
2. put arcane echo instead armor of earth (gos -> echo -> sliver -> sliver -> gos -> sliver with obsidian/stoneflesh/stonestriker recast in between), with one combo (3x sliver) you can clear first group, later it gives you a slight boost in speed.
3. went down to 6 minutes >.>"

arggh! where's that edit button :p

  Keo on 09/24/07 15:40

nice one stan, great first guide!

i'll be farming here when hm comes around.

^_-

  Riotpoll on 09/24/07 16:12

hm will make the ranger destroyers own you ;)

  Pickletron on 09/25/07 04:19

just tried it and it works really well! i've gotten 120 cores so far (i was realllly bored).
blows my guide out of the water :d

  stanzhao1 on 09/25/07 06:04

haha, i wouldnt compare it to your guide as yours has a lot of decent things mine doesnt, asura rep points, green drops etc :)

one thing i forgot to mention is the dye drop rate here, i usually got about 1-3 dye drops a run too... no black dye's, but at least 5 whites overall i think

  Sargent989 on 09/26/07 06:34

Where'd you get that armor?? it looks very nice. And great build i was debating on bringing a SS necro or a ele but i think i'll do an ele.

  stanzhao1 on 09/26/07 07:55

the armor used is the dwarven armor from the eye of the north expansion pack.

  Sargent989 on 09/29/07 00:24

ok big question how far in the game is glint and what do you need to do to get to this place?

  stanzhao1 on 09/29/07 03:36

the glint challenge is pretty much at the end of eotn. its the last outpost before the last mission. so you will need to play through the game to get there unfortunatley.

but you will have to get there anyways to get destroyer gloves as this is where the colector is.

  Sargent989 on 09/29/07 11:19

Well my ele is having a tough time in this game what type of builds r good for GWEN? To get to glint in the fastest way possible?

for me i used a fir build while in the norn area and and air build in the others. i like the blinding for the air against charr!

  thaskippy on 10/18/07 12:34

about glyph of swiftness:
QUOTE
Bug! This skill will also use up one of its "charges" when you are the target of a spell, be it friend or foe who casts it. An enemy who casts a projectile spell on you will NOT have it move at increased speed, however, if an ally casts a spell this way it will recharge 25% faster. Enemy spells targeting you receive the lower recharge bonus as well.
Bug! This skill actually affects the next 2...4 spells you cast rather than the stated amount.

so i geuss this skill has the same breaking point as mystic regeneration

Cores  dylfreak321 on 10/20/07 17:54

is it possible to buy and use a core,if u only have factions and prophecies?

  stanzhao1 on 10/23/07 06:42

you can buy them, but not use them. you need to have the EotN expansion pack for them to be any real use.

Click!

  Elenchus on 10/30/07 04:58

okay,

look what I found here

Glyph of Swiftness it says that the glyph doesnt count spells without a target..so if Wiki is right u can use this skill with 0 air magic and still get 2 or 3 Obsidian Flesh faster recharged

just a thought tho ;)

  Elenchus on 10/30/07 05:02

tha note from Wikia
QUOTE
Note
This skill with little or no points invested in air magic allows constant maintaining of Obsidian Flesh and Mist Form.
Bug! This skill will not count spells without targets (Such as Obsidian Flesh) towards the "spells used" but will still alter their recharge times.

*edit*

and srry, didnt see thaskippy had posted the same

  Aranea on 11/06/07 14:28

Very nice guide clear and easy to understand

With small changes to the build this can be done in HM but you don't get any more cores in a run and it takes longer. i got 3 lockpicks in a row though :)
