This is the last guide in my little series from Ascalon to Sanctum Cay detailing the run from Lion's Arch to Sanctum Cay.
Once there you can follow THIS beautiful guide by Mimori to get you through the mission and on to the Amnoon Oasis where you can pick up my Desert Running Guide to get you around! :p
The build stays the same but it's really up to personal choice of what suits you best.
Lion's Arch to Bergen Hot Springs
Leave Lion's Arch and turn left
Run over the bridge and through the small passage past the Imps
Take a left at the Res Shrine and go straight through the Avicara
Head down the passage at the end of the valley
Keep going until you reach the switchback leading to the portal
Run straight across to the pass avoiding the Avicara and Ettins
Once through take a left past the Skales and then right through the next passage
Left again and head towards the cleft in the rocks & Bergen Hot Springs
Bergen Hot Springs to the Temple of the Ages
Try and avoid the mobs as you leave Bergen, it's not vital that you do but it will keep you hex and condition free until you meet the Rangers
Hang a left at the last moment and run for the small stand of trees. Chances are that you will be crippled by the Rangers so try and hold off using Purge until you get to the first tree else they will simply cripple you again. Run to the back wall and continue West.
Run around the corner and the portal is ahead of you.
This zone can be a little tricky and you will take a pounding from all the Mesmers.
If you have a Survivor in you party it may be best to go left from the start, taking the long way around avoids agroing the mob in the cut through which will kill your clients.
Agro and pull out the Grasps if you need to then run through behind them
I cut down this way to avoid getting snagged in the mobs as they close up
Run over the hill and turn left...Don't stop to heal! Use endure pain if you need to and keep going through all the Grasps because if one cripples you you may never get away!
Follow the path to the portal
Run along the path until it opens out and head left towards the bridge
Cross the bridges pulling or waiting for the mobs to clear if you have to
At this point you can take the safe route on the solid ground to the right or head straight on and deal with the poison. Either way you're heading for the gate up ahead.
ToA sits behind this old structure
Temple of the Ages to Fisherman's Haven
This is the long part for this run but thankfully it's easy, nothing to deal with but some degen.
Head for the gateway past the swamp
Run up to the watch tower and turn left, keep right of the Res Shrine and head for the portal
Up to the end of the path and turn left
Up to the top of the hil through the trees
This turn can be easy to miss and will mean you have to backtrack to find it...just remember the black hill and pick up the path around it
Around this rock and through the Mino's, look for the bridge
Over the bridge and left past the Res Shrine...the portal is further down the path
The passage you want to take here is always full of Skales. Be prepared also for the odd Lightning Orb from the Drakes
Once on the beach head up again for the Res Shrine and turn left for the portal. It might be a good idea to use Endure Pain here since there is a Grand Drake hiding behind the shrine who can deal you alot of damage.
Through the portal and take the first left
You can see the entrance to Fisherman's Haven at the far end of the beach
Fisherman's Haven to Sanctum Cay
The last leg of the journey.
Run back the way you came and find the cut through on the left
In the middle of the cut through is another path up to the left
Follow this through to the passage at the far end
This eventually drops you back onto the beach the other side of Fisherman's Haven
Because of all the degen caused by the Fire Imps and Skales you may need to heal up on this beach before the last push into Sanctum Cay
The end...Sanctum Cay, portal to the Crystal Desert!
So that's it, the end of my trillogy from Ascalon to Sanctum Cay. I believe that you can charge a good 5k for the whole thing but I'm not sure since I don't run for my cash.
I'm also whole heartedly against running newbies since I believe that it spoils the game for them...I loved exploring Tyria with my first char and was lvl 20 by the time I got to Sanctum Cay.
Anyhow...GG, GL & HF!
