INTRODUCTION
Ok, to start off, this is showing you how to use henchman and heroes to complete the Kilroy Stonekin quest in Sorrow's Furnace. This can be done with any profession, but regardless of what character YOU are playing, make sure there are 4 monks, 2/3 warriors, a mesmer, and (if you have room) a utility character (necro, nuker, etc).

First, obtain the quest "To Sorrow's Furnace" from the Dwarven Prospector outside of Deldrimor Warcamp. Have him point you to Kilroy Stonekin. The first thing you will want to do is go down the hill and kill the first group.

After that, you will turn your left and go further down the hill, kill the next group you see.

Let's go grab Kilroy.

After you grab Kilroy, let's go down back and to the left, killing the gnashers first, then whatever is left.
After we do this, let's go to the right and kill any gnashers, then we will kill the mesmers (heretics), anything that is remaining, then whatever boss is there.

Go to the right, kill the monsters there (gnashers first, then heretics), keep on going until we find another boss.

After this, look towards Sorrow's Furnace. There should be a group on the left and the right. Check the group on the left for a Heretic. If there is none, you can all go in at the same time. If there is one, send in one hero to aggro the heretic so that hero can get the Crippling Anguish, then go into Sorrow's Furnace.

Talk to Kilroy when you get into SF. Accept the quest, and move forward. You will get into a cutscene, skip it, watch it, whatever, you're the only real person in the group :). You will fight 4 deep summit knights (something like that) when you first pop in. Keep following Kilroy until you reach THIS point.

Once you reach here, aggro the group on the right, with the surveyors. Press ctrl+shift+spacebar at the sametime so your heroes/henchman will attack that target. Tab through until you find a Priest of Sorrows. Keep attacking your called target, but once the Priest uses Mark Of Protection, flail away on the Priest. Ctrl+shift+space the priest, own him, and own everything else that's living.

Once that's done, send away your henchmen to about here. Use the flag and click to where the red point is on the screen.

Open the chest.

Call off your henchmen and keep going. Follow Kilroy. You should come up to a place that has about 6-8 Stone Summit, which includes a Priest. Use the technique described earlier until you wipe everything, then send your henchmen/heroes away to here. (look on the compass)

Open the chest.

Call off your heroes/henchman using the X on the compass, and follow Kilroy. You will end up at a place with 3 groups of foes. Go to the group on the far left. Ctrl+shift+space the Furnace Guardian, and if you start attcking him and he does 0 dmg, focus on the priest of sorrows and own him.

Annihilate all of the Priests, then get the ettins and the surveyors/whatever is left, then get the boss.

Once everything is dead, send away your henchman to this point. Look on the mini-map and compass.

Open the chest.

FINISHING NOTES

In all, I love this farm. I thought it was funny when a friend told me about it, but it has brought me a lot of money.

What do you get from this farm?
A lot of armors, purples. Even though the weapons are purple, this is just because they are a quest reward. Think of it like the FoW chests when doing the temple quests. They are purple, but can have perfect inherent mods.

What drops from the chests?
Among purple armors and weapons are Crystalline swords, Serpent Axes, and Dwarven axes. I have been a lucky receiver of a Crystalline, which I sold in-game for 70k (it had kinda bad stats). Pic of it Here.

CLOSING STATEMENT
In all, this farm should rake in the money. You can make a good 2-3k in about 30 minutes or more (depending on the spawn). After farming this for a week or two, I have made a lot of money. I had 430k 2 weeks ago, here's my storage now.

So, if you do try this, good luck, and hopefully you can get a crystalline (or other things! :D)

~Ham

I was wondering when this would get posted. So far, I'm getting mostly Armors, nothing of any real rarity, though I did get a Shadow blade and a Fellblade drop from the same chest (really crappy stats on the Fellblade)

I feel an update coming up...

This has been known for a longgggg time. This is just the first time anyone has written a guide about it. If there is an update, i would be baffeled that A-net didnt have a better thing to do

  Wangburger on 12/06/06 18:22

I got a crystalline on my 5th run which sold for 100k so good luck to all of you :)

  Jake Jacobs on 12/06/06 18:44

very fun very good farm. putting in the heroes was a good idea cause it takes me SOO much less time now to get SOO many more runs in

  Jake Jacobs on 12/06/06 18:54

sry bout double post but just sayin, it would be better if u posted a pic with a crystaline dropped, but i know u said u only got 1.... would be a much better idea more encouraging

  Dags on 12/06/06 19:03

why do u need those specific characters? i just went down with my monk and all the hench on Deldrimor War Camp except mes and did fine...

  mwpeck on 12/06/06 19:16

Not sure why you use 4 monks........I have done about 3 runs with just 2 monks. Havnt even came close to dying, and it allows me to kill faster. A run takes me about 20 minutes and I make the same amount of money.

  Carl Jenkins on 12/06/06 19:45

KIIIIIIILROY STOOOOONEKIN!! I'll CARVE my NAME into your muthaf***ing SKULL!!

I'm SO going to do this

Bob the Lunatic on 12/06/06 19:51

aye, crim is right here... Kilroy's shout really helps as well. Bringing more than 2 monks (MAYBE 3) is unnecessary.

Anyway, great guide! I also got a crystalline off of this (and on my third run :D)... crappy stats, but I'm happy with it :)

  corkycls on 12/06/06 20:15

good guide, i,d lose sun/moon slash for a stronger 8 adrenaline attack. :p

  balor on 12/06/06 20:23

whats a crystalline?

  Annoy Mous on 12/06/06 20:49

whats a crystalline?

The Crystalline Sword is the rearest skinned weapon in the game, and even relatively unwanted mods can still sell for a good bit.

Also a tip, use an MM to speed things up, also you can solo the bosses in Grenth's Footprint using a MM, though only Wroth has any items with any true interest out of those bosses.

Lastly, yes people have been doing this for a while, but after *I think* hambones' picture of his Crystalline and him saying how he got it, the floodgates have opened and many more people are now trying it.

  hambones on 12/06/06 21:25

yeah, you don't really need to bring 4 monks.. i do it just because i can :)

really, you can do it with whatever YOU want, this is just how I do it. GL & HF with this.

  Corruplt Intrept on 12/06/06 21:39

Whats the icon on your screen? the one with the hand and the smoke?

  hambones on 12/06/06 21:43

it's the lightbringer title, i never take it off :D

Ryan The Monk on 12/06/06 22:03

Yes it is, outside of Deldrimor War Camp.

  Soqed Hozi on 12/07/06 02:05

our good friend nexTy got a max req 9 sephis axe and a max req 10 crystalline here, all on one run/ So far I have yet to get lucky with anything, just earth wands and that sort of thing for me :(

  Belshazaarswrath on 12/07/06 05:50

Thanks for the guide ham! I would say i would try it but i have been henching this factions came out with my mm. But you look like you have made a signifigantly quicker version. Oh and this wont get nerfed. The sf area is made to give rare items on a rare occasion. Also alot of farmers think 2-3k in 30 minutes is lame and they can just do regular chest runs and make more.

  osmosisjones on 12/07/06 09:19

The full team idea is good (4 monks :P o_O), but not exactly needed, I usually do the Kilroy run, switch it to Orozar the next all with a 5 sometimes 4 man build.. you make alot more money and get a chance at a green drop.

  Bandit Boy on 12/07/06 10:57

do you need any keys to open the chests?

  osmosisjones on 12/07/06 12:43

QUOTE

No they are "unlocked chests", however there are a few Miners chests in Sorrows Furnace and when doing this run I usually take a key or 2 down with me.

  shawnus1 on 12/07/06 14:49

yeah ive been doing these runs for a couple of days now (about 6 runs total) and i got my 1st crystaline sword today! max purple req 10, 13% damage while enchanted, not a bad one :)
but like some others have said, u dont need that much monking in your team, i just went with normal balanced bunch :)

  Rootbeer_Rain on 12/07/06 16:25

So... what would you say would be a perfect crystaline sword? like how much would it sell if it had +30hp mod on it?

  sleep_FTW on 12/07/06 17:03

WTB Nightfall.

GOD I WANT A CRYSTALINE!

  Dice Dhracon on 12/07/06 17:49

Dude, i gots nothing, 10 runs nothing but trash purples , *sigh*

  Zephyr_Storm on 12/07/06 20:19

To Dice: You can only get purples from these chests. They never drop golds as far as I know. Sorry :P.

the mini man on 12/07/06 20:24

After 21 hard runs i finally got a CRYSTALLINE! yay me!

  thiswonthurt on 12/07/06 20:54

Yo hambones i got the crystalline pic for you, pm me if you want it,

  mango_monger on 12/07/06 23:45

this is also an awesome way to lvl ur heros

just bring one low lvl hero and set him to passive. 7 ppl can handle most of it

You don't need heroes to do this, I just take 7 henchman and I can do this without any trouble.

Good Luck

=)  angry_dutch on 12/09/06 03:13

thanks alot for pointing this out ^^ i never knew about the chest in there =) i got a max dwarfen axe on my first run ^^

Ill Be Ur Tank on 12/09/06 05:02

Hmm yea thnx for pointing Everything out it is a fun little run i got my Crystalline Sword on my 4th Run :) +13%(stance) 20/18 and i added a +30 mod.. but it's pretty good probly gonna make me a pretty penny Ty Ham for the guide. Maybe i can get a dwarven axe soon. :)

  sleep_FTW on 12/09/06 12:22

this is ENTIRELY irrelavent, but what sword and sheild is that?

they look pretty sweet.

  sleep_FTW on 12/09/06 12:30

The new AI buff makes this a bit of a pain killing casters

  sleep_FTW on 12/09/06 13:54

Could i be doing something wrong? I keep getting empty chests/

  Paranon on 12/09/06 14:46

perfect crystalline would be max, gold, req 7, sundering 20/20 hp +30, 15^50, something like that would sell for hundreds maybe thousands of ecto...

  Paranon on 12/09/06 14:56

i may be wrong but, unless you send your henchs to a safe distance, they will share the chest rewards, why the guide keeps saying send your heroes away to here...

Ill Be Ur Tank on 12/09/06 15:56

TO sleep_FTW : If ur getting empty chets send ur henchmen far away for the first chest i take mine to where u kill the 1st ettin kill that mob leave them there and then go back and i get 4 drops. then when u get the secound chest take them back to first chest leave them there and go back. and for the last chest i take them back to the bridge! i uselly get max drops out of all chest hopefully this helps ya

  geemann on 12/09/06 17:29

Fantastic guide

Charlotte The Harlot on 12/10/06 03:00

Obviously he uses 4 monks so he can use frenzy with no cancel stance whats more fun than that.

Nice guide.
