Moddok Crevice in Masters
This is my third guide to boot (hurray for me :) ). I tried to descrribe going through this mission to the best of my abilities, so please don't get on me for spelling or misleading directions or w/e.
I've noticed alot of people having trouble obtaining Master's on this mission. Actually, its probably easiest with heroes and henchies. But what do I know? I've gone through the whole game (up to Gates of Pain) without going into a PUG group, so I guess humans can work just as good :)
Party Set-up
When I wrote this guide, I used a hero/hench setup. You don't have to go with heroes, but I actually recommend it. Obviously, Dunkuro is needed, but an MM is very important for the bonus part. If you have a party member with Olias, have them bring him.
If you feel you can trust Dunkuro with some healing, you will only need 1 Monk, which allows you to add in some more damage or support.
Ok, here we go...
Once your party is READY, start the mission. As you approach Captain Bohseda, some dialog will appear that he is here to help guide you, and Dunkuro will not agree with it. This itself does not affect the bonus, but for a shorter battle disagree.
Afterwards, continue down the path until you come to the cavern area. Clear out the Mandragors and/or Insects (there are 4-5 groups of them), but DO NOT HEAD UP either of the two paths that are there.
At the more eastern part of the cavern is a small path (see above picture). If you try to go up it, Dunkuro will advise you to take an alternate path. Simply walk away and head West towards the other path. Do NOT GO UP it yet. If you notice, there is a waterfall nearby (see lower picture). Have all but one party member go to this waterfall without aggroing any of the enemies at the top of the cliff. Have the one party member begin to head up the path, and you will get another message from Dunkuro. Once it appears, have the one member run over the the waterfall, and have the whole party wait for the group of Corsairs to pass by. Do NOT aggro them.
After they do, run up the path and begin clearing the first group of insects. The Corsair patrol will return after several minutes, so no worries unless you have stragglers. Once you reach a small clearing, another message by Dunkuro will appear about several Corsair camps to the West. To avoid the camps, stay along the eastern wall. At the end is a group of insects you can take out. Try not to go any farther than their spawn, or aggro any of the Corsairs to the west.
After this, go down the passage to the east the insects were near, but once you see the Corsair Runners, do not have anyone attack them, or aggro the large, nearby group of Insects.
This part can be chalenging depending on if you have a hero MM or not. If you DO, send him in around the insect aggro, and up to the Corsair Runners if and only if he has minions with him.
(Note: At the currency of this guide, the Corsair Runners DON'T RUN from the hero MM! As long as your MM can fight them, your good. If you have no hero MM and instead a human MM, or none at all, it can be fairly tricky. If you have any heroes, try to send them up to the Runners as well, and target them so the heroes attack - don't attack them yourself, or they will run. The runners only run when you or your human allies near.)
The above pic is the path you should send your MM. If you were able to do as said above, a message box will display:
Now theres just a little bit more to follow...
Finishing the Mission
With the bonus done, head north around the large aggro of insects. Continue north, clearing out both groups of Insects along the path. Make sure to target the Veldt Beetle Queens first (if there are any in the group). After the Insects, the path will bend south and end at a fork. Take the RIGHT path, as the other has the large Insect aggro we passed earlier. Passing another bend and heading towards the rock bridge over the river, a cut-scene will appear with The Hunger and General Bayel.
(Note: There has been a reported glitch where your party can get separated after the cut-scene. I don't know if it has been fixed yet, but if you do get separated, you may not be able to rejoin depending on where you ended up. If this happens, you will have to restart.)
At the bridge, you will notice your at quite a disadvantage. To counter the Rangers at the top, run under the bridge they are on - right into the General and The Hunger. You can avoid lots of amounts of damage this way, as they can't hit you through solid rock.
General Bayel is, strangely, a monk, and cannot have his elite captured. He is very weak, and can be finished in a matter of moments. On the other hand, The Hunger spams Hunger's Bite rapidly, and can deal fair amouts of damage if not dealt with quickly. For a level 28, he has alot of health, and can take some time depending on your team's strength and build. As long as you avoid damage from the rangers, healing shouldn't be a problem. Once The Hunger is dead, the mission is done. If you accomplished Dunkuro's Deeds, the mission should be a success.
Thats all for the most part :). Please leave whatever feedback you feel necessary - the more positive the better :)
