PvE Paragon/Warrior - H/E Buffer
This is my second guide, my first kind of being a bust. Feedback is welcome.
The main purpose of this build is to provide monks with back-up support healing, as well as some minor energy management. There are a few skills that can be changed along with the build, but I feel this build is fine the way it is.
The H/E Buffer stands for Health/Energy Buffer.
Attributes and Skills
Attributes:
Motivation: 12 + 3 + 1
Leadership: 12 + 1
Skill Descriptions:
Signet of Synergy: Signet. Target other ally is healed for 104 Health. If you are not under the effects of an Enchantment, you are also healed for 104 Health. (Motivation)
Mending Refrain: Echo. For 20 seconds, target non-spirit ally has +4 Health regeneration. This Echo is reapplied every time a Chant or Shout ends on that ally. (Motivation)
Zealous Anthem: Chant. For 10 seconds, the next time each ally within earshot uses an attack Skill, that ally gains 8 Energy. (Motivation)
Aria of Zeal: Chant. For 10 seconds, the next time each ally within earshot uses a Spell, that ally gains 8 Energy. (Motivation)
Ballad of Restoration: Chant. For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot takes damage, that party member gains 20 Health. (Motivation)
Song of Restoration (Elite): Elite Chant. For 10 seconds, the next time each party member within earshot uses a Skill, that party member gains 104 Health. (Motivation)
Leader's Comfort: Skill. You gain 69 Health. For each ally within earshot, you also gain +19 Health (maximum 140 Health). (Leadership)
Signet of Return: Signet. Ressurect target party member with 14% Health and 4% Energy for each party member within earshot. (Leadership)
For weapons, I recommend any spear with +5 Energy and +30 Health, with a shield that gives +30 Health.
Running the Build - The first two skills
As a buffer, your primary job is to keep people, well, buffed. But there will be times when your buffs are recharging, and you have no way to support. Signet of Synergy is an awesome way to heal an ally, as well as yourself in the process. If your under an enchantment, you won't get the health bonus yourself though. The second skill, Mending Refrain, is nice to put on people with constant degen (i.e. Vampiric Weapons), so that the monks do not have to keep them healed 100% of the time. It also helps against condition degen like Bleeding, Poison, and Disease.
Running the Build - The shouts
There are four primary skills to this build, two focusing on Energy and two focusing on Health. Zealous Anthem allows energy heavy Warriors, Rangers, Paragons, Assassins, and Dervishes to gain some energy back from their attack skills, while Aria of Zeal helps spell-casters (Monks, Elementalists, Necromancers, Ritualists, and Mesmers) gain a bit back from their castings.
Ballad of Restoration is an awesome skill to use right before running into a battle. Healing for 94 health when they take damage can counter a begining 'mini' spike. Song of Restoration heals for 104 whenever they use a skill - every skill you can use (spells, enchantments, hexes, etc) is considered a skill.
Whats nice about these shouts is the Leadership attribute. With a 13 in Leadership, you will gain a maximum of 6 energy back for each ally affected by your shout/chant (you gain a maximum of 1 energy for every 2 ranks in Leadership, so 13/2 ~ 6.5, rounded down to 6). Small groups can be a bit harder, since less people are affected by your shouts overall, and you won't gain very much, if even any, back. If you decide to put a major Leadership rune on, you can gain up to 7 energy.
Running the Build - Self heals and Rez
Besides Signet of Synergy's bonus healing, Leader's Comfort is your primary (and somewhat only) self heal. In a croud of 8 people, you will always heal yourself for the maximum 140. Signet of Return has a fairly slow cast time, but can ressurect players with quite a bit of health, based on the amount of allies that are within your range when you rez them.
Running the Build (Officially)
Now that you understand the basics, lets move on to utilizing the build.
To start with, find the group that you are going to attack. Since you won't be fighting much, your main job is to spam shouts/heals, while calling out targets. Mainly start by looking for the enemy healer in the group, and call them out. Use Mending Refrain on the one-two tanks running in, followed by the 4 shouts as you run into battle. Try not to spam all of your shouts at once, as it will cause you to enter a "skill drought" where you can't really cast anything. If any of your allies have Rez Sig, tell them you will rez so they don't have to waste their Rez. Watch out for the six-second cast with Signet of Return though, as it fairly open to interrupts.
The only main cons to this build are small groups, e-denial (3 of your 4 shouts are 10 energy, and Mending Refrain gives no energy back, so try not to spam it), and large spikes.
Last Notes
Optionally with this build, Mending Refrain can be taken out for something such as Energizing Finale (gives energy to person casted on when a shout/chant ends on them) or Blazing Finale (causes burning on nearby foes when a shout/chant ends on target ally). If you would rather use a faster Rez, swap Signet of Return with Rez Sig or Sunspear Rebirth Signet.
That's all I have. Please leave your feedback as needed, the more positive the better :).
