okay, this is(was...on a guild forum, cut and paste really :)P my first post on any forum....ever. It's late at night, I'm bored, and I'm kinda tired of assassin's being considered nothing more than a sponge that soaks up a monkey's energy.
I figured that if I can turn a ranger into a good tank, then a sin couln't be that hard. Since I'm not competant enough to use pictures, I'll have to explain everything. I hope this will help whoever reads this and well...enjoy.
skills - numbers based on my character at these levels
dagger mastery - 11
shadow arts - 12
critical strikes -14
1.wild blow(warrior skill) -loose all adrenaline, land a critical hit, opponent looses a stance, can't be blocked or evaded.
2.critical defences - 72% chance to evade attacks, lasts six seconds, refreshes with a critical hit.
3.way of perfection- for 30 seconds, each critical hit heals for 30 health.
4.palm strike (elite) - touched foe takes 80 dmg, counts as off hand attack.
5.critical strike - dual attack, must follow and off hand attack, deals +29 dmg and is a critical hit.
6.deaths charge - tele to foe, if foe has more health than you, you are healed for 112.
7.shadow refuge - health regen of 9 for 4 seconds, if you are attacking while this end you are healed for 68
8.heart of shadow - tele to random location, next time you would take dmg, you are healed for 94 health.
First thing to consider, armor.
I use the nightstalkers armor cause it gives +15 defense while attacking. this is good for me because you need to be attacking constantly for my type of character to stay alive. For my character, I mixed and match different sets of armor cause i want to be able to walk around without stabbing everyone near me with all the spikes poking out of a sin's armor. Wow, I'm getting off topic on something minor. well, anyway, with this armor you should have 85 armor while attacking. :)
Next is the weapon. Daggers. The only thing I have to say about them is that they'd better be enchanting (20%). This gives you a second or two longer to land your criticl hit, heals a little longer with shadow reflexes, and lets you ignore way of perfection a little longer.
Now the hard part is actually getting these skills to work together correctly. Keeping critical defences on is harder than it seems and there are many tricks to keeping it up. Wild blow is the best tool. It recharges in 5 seconds and you have a little more than 7 seconds to refresh it. I use this skill whenever I can. the great thing about this is you get healed for 30 with each use (from way of perfection) and it removes stances...which would be a major issue with just using critical strikes. Do not start casting something and miss oppertunity to get this hit.
Palm strikes only purpose is damage and to set up critical strike. I dont count on strike to keep up defences, its good for damage and it land two critical hits (which heals for 60). For the rest of healing, use heart of shadow and shadow refuge as needed.
Use deaths charge sparingly. Deaths charge is best when used as a tele. look at its healing as a bonus, not the other way around. I have two favorite ways of using it, the first is after youve killed something. You may be to far away from someone to land a critical hit, you may be crippled, they may under or on a cliff, use charge then you can get your critical hit before critical defences run out. Another good way to use it is for when those pesky players try to run away. Rather than forever chasing them and dealing no damage, death's charge followed by palm strike can deliver the final blow. Sometimes you can even use palm strike and critical strike (depending if it tele's you in front or behind them) which deals about 150 dmg to those heavily armored warriors. :)
My, my, now wasn't this a long rant. Feel free to try this out if you want. Ive seen lots of success from it in fort aspenwood and this build can take on the four zaishen warriors by itself(sometimes they get lucky with disrupting chop). I'd be interested on other similar combinations too. Just be smart on choosing targets, and always remember that warriors are least likely to run away (Even when you kill the two next to him and still have full health...haha, its happened before).
Most important, you are not a warrior. You have permission to use your brain. Learn what you can and can't do. Blind renders you useless except for palm strike. you can still annoy them. Don't keep attacking if you have spitful spirit!!! Empathy you can deal with but ss hurts everyone else too. You can still distracted them and stall them from attacking your allies. Besides, you can survive well without Critical defense with shadow skills, so dont panic if critical defenses goes down.
*Note to all those reading this....this was made before the update of skills, none of these skills are worse but my numbers are a bit off. Some have better recharge/cost/dmg/heal.
Once again I hope this helps, and i may just do another one after nightfall (they seem to counter a sin's squishyness :)
