The touch ranger, a totally hated build, more-so than IWAY was in it’s high day. However we’re using it in a different way than PvP. Where we take our touchers, it’s more profitable than anything in PvP.
The Build:
Plague Touch – For condition removal, works well as it’s a 5e skill and you can spam it if you get a lot of conditions
Vampiric Touch – Damage and healing
Vampiric Bite – damage and healing (the factions duplicate of vamp touch)
Offering of Blood – for your energy management (I’ll explain when to use it later)
Whirling defence – protection
Lightning relexes – protection
Throw Dirt - protection
Dodge – getting to/away from the boss
16 Expertise, attained by 12+mask+sup rune
12 blood magic
The equipment:
Ideally you will have:
A sword with +5 energy, and +7 against physical
A blood offhand, I recommend the blood offhand From Attendant Nashu in the marketplace (5 putrid crests)
A longbow of any stats
And full druids armor to top it off.
Tactics, this is where the challenge and the fun comes in, you get to solo plenty of level 28 and 24 bosses AND anyone who happens to be around them.
When you come upon the boss you want to kill, the best starting tactic is to pull him alone with your longbow, if this doesn’t work (and there are several that won’t pull without a group along with them) you get to do it the hard way. Rush in with dodge and when you get there hit WD and start spamming vamp touch and vamp bite until you get to 20 energy, then hit OoB and resume spamming, when WD runs out hit LR and go until you’ve killed as many of the bosses cronies as possible. When you run out of energy completely and OoB is still recharging, go ahead and zojuns haste back out. Using hit and run tactics like this you can take a fairly large group a small chunk at a time.
Some bosses also are too hard to take in one go, so go use all of your energy on him (using OoB generously) and when you run out go ahead and dodge/zojuns back out and give yourself a few seconds of regeneration – but don’t take to long as the longer you wait the more time the boss has to regenerate too.
It would take to long to point out strategy for every boss out there, so I’m just gonna give a hit list:
Craw Stonereap
Cultist Milthuran
Ritualist’s Construct
Geoffer Pain Bringer
Warden of Saphrophytes
Lian, Dragon’s Petal
Meril Stoneweaver
Chkkr Locust Lord
Whispering Ritual Lord
Bzzyr Wingmender
Cultist Rajazan
Ghial the Bone Dancer
Reefclaw Ragebound
Darkroot Entrop
Rahse Windcatcher
Strongroot Tanglebrance
Wing, Three Blade
Untouched Ancient Ky
Good luck getting the greenies you want, and I’m sure there are more bosses out there that can be touched by this build.
