Hello there, welcome to my attempt at a somewhat detailed guide.

Anyhow, I created this build while experimenting with the Dragon Slash sword elite skill and managed to come up with my own build for it. Now, from what I have found it isn't a copy build at all, though I do admit I didn't spend "hours" on end browsing various sites (including GA and Wiki) just to be thorough. Also I got lazy and didn't bother to include a screen shot of the armor since it really doesn't matter a whole lot what you use, excluding runes.

The Dragon Knight
(Warrior/Monk)

Armor:

Armor is fairly straight forward and you really don't need to use Gladiators for the extra energy since you won't really need it. In fact almost any combination of armor works so long as you make sure you have the required attributes met.

The armor I used is as follows:

Head: Ascalon
Chest: Knights
Hands: Platemail ( 90AL + 10 Phys)
Legs: Knights
Feet: Platemail ( 90AL + 10 Phys)

Runes:

Minor Tactics, Superior Absorption, Minor Swordsmanship, Superior Vigor, Major Strength

Weapons:

As for the weapons I suggest the all-useful Sskai's Sword which generally goes for around 15k. Also, as you are rarely in a stance or enchanted I do suggest the -5 damage (20% chance) Shield simply because it's troublesome to switch between shields in a fight.

Strategy:

Pick Target > "For Great Justice!" > Berserker Stance > Sun and Moon Slash > Dragon Slash > Sun and Moon Slash > Dragon Slash > etc.

With this build starting up a fight is probably the hardest part, mainly because from the get-go you lack adrenaline to perform your attacking skills. Basically you want to pick your target, activate "For Great Justice" and then Berserker Stance and hammer away until Sun and Moon Slash is charged. Once you use Sun and Moon Slash Dragon Slash should charge. Use it and then Sun and Moon Slash should be charged once again. (Starting to see the combination?) One or two attacks should make Dragon Slash charge again and using it will let you go right into Sun and Moon once more. For the most part you're doing a near continual chain of Sun and Moon Slash/Dragon Slash.

Now, of course you wont always be able to continually use these skills however, you'll be more than able to deal a large amount of damage in a short period of time with this build. Now, defensively it does lack hence the addition of the three healing skills. Orison of Healing is there to use for a small heal, but you can nearly spam it. It's low energy so it shouldn't affect you very much. Healing Signet is your emergency heal, something you should only use if and when you run out of energy and need a heal. Remember; only use Healing Signet if you're down to 200 or so health and not much lower if you can help it. Healing Breeze is your counter to degen (Poison, etc.) use it only when necessary as it does cost 10 energy.

Be wary of Blind as that is the biggest enemy of this build, you could consider switching out either the Healing Signet (and setting the freed attribute point into swordsmanship or strength), Healing Breeze or Orison of Healing and replace it with a condition remover if you so please.

Uses:

This build was primarily used in PvE, however I have tried it in PvP/AB and I have yet to be disappointed with it.

Final Comments:

So, that was my guide, I hope it proved to be useful to you guys. Questions, comments, feel free to PM me or leave it via commentary here. If you’d like to flame, discredit this build or whatever go ahead I guess, I can’t exactly stop you, though a PM would be nice. And as always constructive criticism is nice and welcomed.

not bad i like how you use the adrenalin bonus with dragon slash but i would suggest possibly taking out the 2 monk skills and using some more adrenalin based skills to take advantage of your constant adrenalin gain maybe something like riposte and another sword attack

The Zach Attack on 09/20/06 00:26

Well, I would highly suggest removing orison--it's just not enough healing without divine favor, and a waste of energy
You could try Endure Pain, Mending, or Dolyak as a replacement, but of ocurse, it's personal preferance

  cswella on 09/20/06 00:52

I love Dragon Slash, especially if you use 'To The Limit!" with it. It's a good boost to help with the issue of no adren at first.

And IMO, you aren't balancing the skills. 3 heals, 2 adren attacks, a shout, and a stance. I think you're stretching yourself too much. Trying to be okay in alot of things, but you can't be great in anything.

My suggestion, take out the monk heals, and keep Heal Signet. Put in Galrath Slash and To The Limit!.

Then take out Berserker's or Justice and put Sever Artery in.

  TheBeano on 09/20/06 01:16

Personally, I agree with Cswella on a few fronts. You have 3 heals. I would look at dropping Orison and take something like Live Vicariously or maybe Vigorous Spirit that way with all your attacking, you're keeping your health up. Have Healing Signet there for an emergency. Then take another attack - Final Thrust perhaps?

Nonetheless... it's quite an intriguing build. I may use it or some variation in the near future. Well done.

  Solicity on 09/20/06 01:16

personaly i would swap out orison and berserkers for dolyak signet and watch youself, as you have a few points in tactics and strenght. this means you should also be able to tank fairly well if the need arises.

a nice build! loosely simalar to the Adrenomancer i saw on guru the other day, but not identical, so good job :)

  bartt on 09/20/06 05:38

nice , nice
but it is rather dangerous if your team dies or when your under heavy fire , since there is no defensive skill , i sugest defensive stance or something familiar.

anyway , good job

  Jake Jacobs on 09/20/06 06:28

yea i came up with this build but was waiting until NF to come out so i could tack the paragon skill enduring harmony so i could have a For great justice last for like 40 secs and in essence become a neverending for great justice and you could keep it going for ever and ever cause the skill is an echo, therefore if you just keep using watch yo self and the stuff shall never end! it seemed a much better combo. also the build u use is REALLY unbalenced you are fine with only healing sig also in your build you dont have your swords over 12 which then gives you 5 adr when u use dragon

so a better build looks like this:

W/P

15 swords
10 tactics
10 str
the rest in motavation

dragon slash
savage slash
for great justice
enduring harmony
to the limit
defensive stance
healing sig
watch yo self
rezz sig

a little adrenaline high yes but its amazing (i tested durring pvp demo week)

-jake

P.S. umm yea ur build works for all of ten secs and mine comes in and goes KABMOOM YOU ARE PWN'D SUCKA!!!!!

  johny bravo on 09/20/06 06:55

dont see how berserker stance fits in here too well. I understand that it give you an initial adrenaline boost but as soon as you lose a skill you have to wait 30s to use it again. I would probably put something like to the limit in there becuase you can use it more frequently, Also maybe another adreniline based attack skill with lower requirements, like sever artery.

I think berserker stance pairs up with on your knees and a KD skill really well though as it will recharge everytime you can use on your knees.

Good idea and could be better with some tweaking. Also nicely written but you might want to include some areas/enemy types, this works well in/against.

  Soqed Hozi on 09/20/06 07:03

I use this:

dragon slash
sun and moon slash
silverwing slash
galrath slash
sever artery
for great justice
sprint
hex breaker / endure pain

all stats in sword and strength. I use only minor runes and the knights headpeice.

(works a treat)

A Wammo! Don't forget MENDING!

  HiroAyami on 09/20/06 10:40

Thanks for the comments, and firstly sure, I would put in more adrenaline skills, however if you do (at least when I tried it) I could not achieve the constant alternation of Dragon Slash and Sun and Moon Slash. At one point I did have Dragon Slash, Sun and Moon Slash, and Galrath Slash in place of Berserker Stance, however after I casted Galrath Slash I had to attack 3 more times to regain Dragon Slash vs the single or no attack to use it again.

Secondly, I do NOT need swords over 12 to gain the extra five adrenaline ever, since with Sskai Sword and "For Great Justice!" Sun and Moon Slash (And Galrath Slash) were charged.

Now, this wasn't overly clear, but the point of "For Great Justice!" and Berserker Stance was A) Initial Adrenaline Gain, B) Allowing Dragon Slash to be usable 1 attack after Sun and Moon Slash was used vs 2. IE: Sun and Moon > Dragon Slash > Sun and Moon > Norm attack > Dragon Slash > Sun and Moon > Dragon Slash > Sun and Moon > Norm attack > Norm attack > etc. C) In case you're blinded and end up losing the adrenaline and have to regain it.

Now as this is a PvE Primary build the two Monk skills work very well especially since while using Healing Signet it is unwise to use it with 3 or four enemies attacking you since the -40 armor does tend to become an issue and often hinders the healing. However I suppose Dolyak and To The Limit in place of the skills would work. Well, we'll see, I'll be continuing to tweak this build regardless, I'll make sure to try out your suggestions and get back to you guys, perhaps with an updated build soon :)

  soulless tears on 09/20/06 14:16

remove the monk heals add heal sig and a defensive stance and just follow the golden rule for heal sig dont use it under fire use ur defensive stance then heal sig orsin is just a crap heal for every class but monk srry it has to go.

  soulless tears on 09/20/06 14:20

o and berserker stance is useful but has a long recharge and FGJ+DRAGON slash should fit your adenline need i sugest sever in place of it but its just my .5 cents

try this skill  Future Man on 09/20/06 22:37

"TO THE LIMIT!"

  Dark Knight on 09/21/06 18:26

This build is excellent, just tried a mod of it. Works dreamy:
Drag Slash
Sun+Moon
For Gr8 Justice
Sever Artery
Gash
Live Vicarously
Vigorous Spirit

Worked Brilliantly.

Good Idea...  Corellon Larithien on 09/30/06 09:51

I once used something like this. you can't say anything about a build like this until you have tried it. this built DOES have very good offense, and i will try the dragon slash combo u mentioned. my only suggestion is that instead of orison, u use something else, like 'i will survive', or even 'watch yourself'. but this is a good idea for a DDW. ty.

  Corellon Larithien on 09/30/06 10:02

and also maybe not rez. let other ppl rez.

  TheBlackPenguin on 10/17/06 15:31

Nice guide. Like ur idea with gaining extra adrenaline from Dragonslash!
Nice job and well explained guide. =D
