Hey all fellow ampers, I’m back with my second guide this time, and today I’m going to show a PvP/PvE assassin build for the more experienced players. For those of you who want an easier assassin build to start with, you might want to check out This Build. It might be a bit hard to work out in the start, and you might need a stopwatch to keep track on time. This is a dual build, meaning you will need a friend of you to help you out. He/she is going to use the same build as well, as listed below. I think that this build might become the next touch ranger build, but unlike the touchies, this build is going to be more admired, since it’s a bit harder to run =P
(Oh, and with this build, I’m going to PROVE that 2 assassins can tank ANYTHING in PvE as well, gotcha there all you ppl that said ‘sins are hopeless tanks =P !)

Skills

1. Shadow Form (part of the Holy trinity)
2. Arcane Echo (part of the Holy trinity)
3. Arcane Mimicry (part of the Holy trinity)
4. Shadow Refuge (your selfhealer)
5. Leaping Mantis Sting (attack skill)
6. Golden Phoenix Strike (attack skill)
7. Nine Tail Strike (attack skill)
8. Death Blossom (attack skill)

I’m not going to say too much about the skills, as they should be commonly known for those who play GW regularly. The attacking skills might be substituted for another attacking combo if you think that is more suitable. I am however going to talk a little bit about “the holy trinity” later on, but first I’m going to show the stats and armour

Stats:
Dagger Mastery: 14 (11+2+1)
Shadow Arts: 12 (10+2)
Critical Strikes: 9 (6+3)

Again, you can juggle the stats around as much as you want, and add some more superior runes, but since I don’t have all the superior runes, I’m using this. I also use a superior rune of vigour, but in this build, it is sort of pointless, and not really needed.

Armour:
I prefer to use the shrouded guise armour for the extra bonus if energy. Another option is to mix the armour sets, so that you can end any unseen conditions sooner.

Weapon:
Zealous PvP Daggers of Enchanting
+5 energy
Zealous dagger tang
Enchantments last 20% longer hilt

Used for energy management + to make shadow form last longer

“The Holy Trinity”
The basic main three skills here, which I have dubbed the holy trinity, is the key aspect of your survival.

1. Shadow Form:
Enchantment spell. For 19 seconds, all hostile spells that targets you fail, and all attacks against you miss. When Shadow Form ends, loose all but 47 health (cost: 10, casting time: 1 sec, recharge: 60 sec)
2. Arcane Echo:
Enchantment spell. If you cast an enchantment the next 20 seconds, Arcane Echo is replaced by that spell for 20 seconds. Arcane Echo ends prematurely if you use a non-spell skill (cost: 15, casting time: 2 sec, recharge: 30 sec)
3. Arcane Mimicry:
For 20 seconds, Arcane Mimicry becomes the non-form elite skill from target other ally (cost: 15, casting time: sec, recharge: 60 sec)

Start of by casting arcane echo, then shadow form. When shadow form wears out, quickly use the arcaned Form. you need to do this before arcane echo goes back to its normal form, so cast it when shadow form has lasted 18-19 seconds. It's makes the job easier if you have a stopwatch. Cast arcane mimicry as well after some seconds. With 19 seconds lasting time plus the 20% longer enchantments mod, you can keep up Shadow Form INFINITIVE. That means, that unless there are any of those nasty close-up bangers (which uses Inferno, Flame burst, skills like that), you and your friend ‘sin should be nearly invincible. You have to keep up Shadow Form ALL THE TIME, otherwise it's game over for you and your friend. The shadow refuge is there mostly if something should go wrong (getting interrupted f.ex.), and you have to heal back up again. You can skip it out for another attacking skill or a rez if you are in TA, or PvE. Since all spells fail, shatter enchantment, rend enchantments and other skills alike should be no problem whatsoever.

There are some very few skills that can strip this build from enchantments (like Chillbains) but since these skills cost much, have long recharges and other downsides, no-one in PvP uses them, making sure that you can keep up your Holy trinity all the time.

You can also dual tank with this build, as well as running with it (change out the attacking skills for running skills). There have been reports by some of my friends that they have managed to dual run to droks with it, although I have not tried it out myself. If anyone tries, please post it back to me.

Counters:
Close-up bangers
Other morons still attacking while they have spiteful spirit on them (wammos, ‘sins from other teams in AB etc)
Getting interrupted while casting one of the Holy trinity skills

Closers:
Soz for not having so many pictures, I’m not that great at all that stuff. I would like to thank Mr Kento for helping me out with the testing of the build, as well as some other people in PvP who had the time to help me out with it. If any builds that look similar are found, or that are the same, I had no idea of it. I posted this just based on my own thinking; I did not find it anywhere else.

Any constructive critics or half-witted flames can be posted. I do actually prefer the critism, since it can help me make builds that bring gaming to a new level. So go on, post your opinion =)

Nice Build  van halen on 09/08/06 17:30

All looks good but I'm not very experienced with Assassins, actually it’s the only profession I tend to neglect for no apparent reason

  KahlanXvii on 09/08/06 17:34

This build has been used during the GWFC by WM, though not during the finals.
Anyway good guide ^^
And yep 2 Sins like these can own basically everything but a trapper :P

  SneakyMonkey on 09/08/06 17:36

Two words. Brilll Iant! One of the best guides that I have seen for assassins. Agian, briliant! (The only handicap is that you need to be doing it with a partner, making it pretty much useless for RA)

  everdream on 09/08/06 17:39

incredible use of Shadow form with mesmer as a secondary, very cool.

(blushes) oh, ty.

Well, about the soloing part in RA, it is possible (althought it makes the monk go nuts on your team) all you gotta do is to switch out arcane mimicry with a Illusion of Weakness. spend some points in Illusion magic aswell, and you can heal yourself up to nearly 3/4 of your total health. Works fine for me, if my team dies I'm usually the last one to die, proving its viability.

Stolen Build (again)  Soul Flame Monkey on 09/08/06 17:44

I hate to put people down again... buts seems needed...

Ill name it Princess Test

One thing, this isnt your build, your guide, there isnt anything with it that is yours, have you even tried the build yourself.

Go get your own creativety instead of posting a build that is used in PVP by war machine, I think alot of people saw them using it MULITPLE times in GVG and they pwned.

There is nothing wrong with the build btw, but dont claim it yours.

BTW this touch can kill this build in less then a eye wink, +signet mesmers+trappers... btw you have to go archane mimi first then you can last for ever, other way around is a quick death.

So plz give credit on war machine's build and dont take their name for glory... and dont leech. I dont like it in-game nor out game.

TY BYE BYE,

Soul Flame(the bad flaming boogy man)(AKA Fellow "b" presser)

Soul Flame Monkey on 09/08/06 17:46

Oh I was just telling how lame it is to claim a build/idea yours,

On warmachine they used dark escape since you cant keep up for ever

I have not "claimed" this build as mine, and as read in the guide, if anyone has done it before, I did not know it before you told me now. Looks like I wasn't the only one with this idea, but you have to admit it is a good/decent build, aight? Sharing it with the rest of this community ain't gonna hurt.

Again, I did NOT know that it had been posted anywhere else, soz

Soul Flame Monkey on 09/08/06 18:07

with my<----sounds like claiming
Looks like I wasn't the only one with this idea<----Did you know 8 man worked on this buil before being used?

My sorry's for the hush behavior:/

but still this build is a easy kill in ab/pvp since shock is a skill same as many others, IW(illus weapon) will work too

there are too many counters on the build you cont use it alot in ra/ab/ta. And Ive used this build too in gvg with some guild mates to "gank"(split and kill guild lord) and its impossible to keep up shadow form

  Wyat_hawke on 09/08/06 18:21

Soz for that last post, had some problems with the quotes, I'll post it again...

QUOTE
but still this build is a easy kill in ab/pvp since shock is a skill same as many others, IW(illus weapon) will work too

firstly, shock ain't gonna work, since its a spell, and will get blocked by shadow form. Second, how many Illusionary Mesmers have you seen lately? those people who still uses that build is part of a nearly exctinct race.

And no, I did NOT know that 8-man worked on this before, as i said in the bottom of the guide. Soz for not knowing everything and being everywhere in GW at all times.

And no again, you don't have to start off with arcane mimicry first, it is basically the same if you start with mimicry or if you start with Arcane Echo+ SF

QUOTE
And Ive used this build too in gvg with some guild mates to "gank"(split and kill guild lord) and its impossible to keep up shadow form

Of course that isn't gonna work, what did you think? You and your friend can't split up, you have to stay together and spike.

But anyway, I'm not angry at you, I'm kinda glad you helped me out with sorting out the things I didn't state clearly enough in the guide

Soul Flame Monkey on 09/08/06 18:28

Shock=Skill

Ganking is done with 2 assasains they only split from the rest remaining 6 party members,

The rest was something like 1 shock 2 boon prot 1 woh 1 e-denial 1 emo flagger

  Aidan_Adelbern on 09/08/06 19:49

>_>

what's all the flaming about? obviously everyone saw WM use the build, this guy just showed us how to do it their way. he certaily doesn't claim it to be his, but it is useful. and he also gives credit to the rightfull owners of the build.

overall, incredible use of skills, and you're right. this is kinda tough at first, but i might try it out sometime.

  Txen_Viong on 09/08/06 19:57

Very nice build, well written and nicely explained.

Chillibans would beat this build though...

XD (Not everything >:) pity not many people use chillibans nowadays)

  cswella on 09/08/06 23:15

Soul Flame Monkey, please refrain from this kind of activity please. You're getting awfully close to flaming.

I read over the guide again and did not see anything that could have incited you to call this guide a rip-off. He never claimed it was entirely his, he is just showing us how it's done.

But he is right about Shock, it is a skill. It goes through Shadow Form.

EDIT: Cleaned that messy comment for ya Wyat. :P

  Yidd on 09/09/06 03:25

cswella, are you sure that's even close to flaming?
All i see is constructive critism and, well, yeah Wyat may have made this build himself not knowing that it's been used by WM, so Soul Flame may be wrong there, but i still don't see any semi-nearing-flaming.

Good guide! i hate this build thou! :)

  Wyat_hawke on 09/09/06 03:49

QUOTE
But he is right about Shock, it is a skill. It goes through Shadow Form.

Ok, I was wrong on that one, shock is going trough =P
but, if it is a shocker warrior or shock assassin, the rest of his attacking skills wont work, since they are considered attacking skills. 1 shock isn't a big problem to get over if you have brought with you shadow refuge ;-)

The Zach Attack on 09/09/06 04:39

Ive tried Echo Shadowform plenty of times, it just doesnt wanna work =\
ALso, vamp stuff goes through it, all skills do, so you might not wanna use this where the monsters use shock or vamp stuff

  Solicity on 09/09/06 05:12

QUOTE
but unlike the touchies, this build is going to be more admired

yep, it has more than 3 main skills.

a well written guide of a good idea - and im sure im not the only one thats worked on a build for a while only to find that someone else has made it before me :)

  Txen_Viong on 09/09/06 06:02

Just read this again, he said that it his his guide not his build

QUOTE

He says: my second guide
A PvP/PvE assassin build

He simply is making a guide for it, he did not say that the build was his just the guide.

Also

QUOTE
You can also dual tank with this build, as well as running with it

He didn't say: You can also dual tank with my build, etc

And a few things would beat this build including: Touchers (Already stated), Trappers, Massive skill/signet builds, Chilliban users

Ie most builds that either: Use untargeted enchantment removers (eg: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Expunge_Enchantments http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Well_of_the_Profane http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Chilblains http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Signet_of_Disenchantment [those are all the skills that can do it if I rember right])
Alot of Skills, signets and untargeting skills (Eg Bed of Coals, Inferno etc)

http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Tranquility would also screw this build over.

Nice guide again, just ignore the flamers and rember: Everything dies.

hmmm this is getting pretty close to implying that he made this build.....

Wow  Kaeon P on 09/09/06 19:51

This just makes me want to be part of the gameamp community<-- Maybe a little Sarcasm?

May i ask y flame the guy who cares if he did or didnt say it was his/her give him a break hes just giving us all a chance to play new builds.

But yeah i would like to thankyou wyat for the fun new build since i only use gameamp for my new builds to try out. And who cares if he did or didnt make it up him/her self.

Charlotte The Harlot on 09/09/06 20:10

i doubt this will be the "next toucher" for a few reasons 1. its not nearly as easy and 2. unlike touch counters the toucher can run away or not just be completely crushed like what would happen to this build if sum1 came up with a counter.

  cswella on 09/09/06 22:48

@Yidd: I would call accusing someone of stealing an idea without any reason flaming. Nowhere in the guide does Wyat claim it's his idea, yet Soul Flame Monkey goes off on him about his 'theft'.

I would ask that people research their claims before actually posting them. Stuff like this is considered a personal attack.

  Critis Coldfire on 09/10/06 02:31

There are at least 2 million people that play guild wars.. even if someone else used this build first.. its entirely possible that several people thought of it within a short amount of time. Thank you for taking the time and effort to post this guide. I'm gonna give it a try.

Flaw!!!!  The Imperialist on 09/10/06 13:25

lol, was about to post how it cna't be up bacuse of 19x3=57 seconds, but then i remebered the 20% mod. /hithead shoot me!

  Garrion Marsh on 09/10/06 14:54

just thought i'd put in that you wouldn't be able to tank all that much in say...the jungle due to the fact that all the scarabs have chiblains, and if you were trying to run through the areas with the jade brotherhood you'd still die because shadowform does not stop signets, and the mesmers will still cause you 75 damage for every unnatural signet they use on you, an interesting idea nonetheless :P

  johny bravo on 09/11/06 07:19

Wow, people need to relax. Did he steal the build and post it as his own, maybe who knows but just by reading the guide he never claimed it was his build. it may be implied he did, but he never claimed it. In his defense I had never seen this build before so if I had come up with it (and its really not a far reach) I would have thought it was my own. A perfect example is my UW and FoW SS builds. I copied the UW build a long long time ago and have tweaked it ever since of the origional skills only 4 still exist, the FoW build I came up with using trial and error. Will I post either build, probably not because it is inevitable someone else is using it and I don't want to go through this after posting. Why can't we just inform the author the build has been used and leave it at that. Credit can be then be given afterwards and those who steal have to live with themselves.
Anyway on a positive note. Nice guide, decent build. Definatly has its weaknesses but overall can be pretty effective.

  Weli on 09/11/06 08:15

Only find little problem in this build it's in the skil Arcane Echo: ends prematurely if you use a non-spell skil so you can't use attack skills.

  Wyat_hawke on 09/11/06 08:23

it ends prematurely if you try to echo a skill*

trust me, I've tried. ;-)

yoink  thaskippy on 09/11/06 10:10

i tried to submit almost the same build but it didnt work.... i use it mostly to scrim(and beat) people saying assassins suck though... well at least someone saw the potential of shadow form like me :) i only use arcane echo and shadow form though and then illussion of weakness as a major heal but this is way better :D my guildies say it is as lame as a toucher which i dont really like to hear though :'(

btw  thaskippy on 09/11/06 10:16

dunno if it will really work in PvP i i look at the energy cost m8.... shadow form costs 5 arcane echoe costs 15 then the echoed shadow form costs 10 and arcane mimicry costs 15 also so i geuss you are saving your energy with 1 combo every 30 seconds which is ok in a scrim but not in PvP....

  Txen_Viong on 09/12/06 00:11

Some people need to try out the builds first, and read the comments, even WM used it (so it must be good :> )

  AbsofGlue on 09/12/06 17:59

Straight from the wiki's themselves.

I'm not trying to say he stole a guide from someone, I'm just saying this is possibly where he could have got the idea for a build.

Where am I?
In a Kindergarten with 3 to 6 years old babys?
Go out and take breath some fresh air (as long as it is), meet some none online friends and play some games of soccer or anything else.

If your worried about the energy you can always use Golden Lotus Strike. I'm using this build and at the end as a combo i'm using Golden Lotus Strike, Leaping Mantis Sting, then Death Blossom. and I'm also using illusion of weakness instead of arcane mimicry because I can't find many ppl that use this build aswell as many assassins that even use mesmer as a secondary. I was just wondering if my end combo was well put together and i was also wondering how Illusion of Weakness worked, because it seems kind of useless that the skill takes away health and then just gives it back later. I'm just not sure how this skill helps. any further help would be greatly appreciated. thnx

uh...im an idiot. I'll just say my full build because after re-reading my comment i even confused myself.

alright...Shadow Form, Arcane Echo, Illusion of Weakness, Shadow Refuge, Golden Lotus Strike, Leaping Mantis Sting, Jungle Strike, Death Blossom.

Ok Thnx for the help guys. sry for my idiocracy.
