Welcome to my Second Official Guide!

Profession: W/Mo
Build: Quivering Blade
Type of Build: Pure Damage/Degen

1) This is my own custom made Wa/Mo build that I am currently using for PvE and PvP Arenas.
2) With this build you will be able to Deal large amounts of damage while causing health degeneration at the same time.
3) Before I go into greater detail, I just want to note down that the second profession for this build is not essential to your survival as this build is purely focused on Warrior attributes.

These are the Attributes:

The Skill Bar:

Remember
This build in general lacks defensive wise. However offensive wise, this build can be extremely lethal to any profession you encounter so you can’t afford to waste time running away. You have to be constantly attacking!

-Healing Signet - Signet
You gain 40-130 health. You have -40 armour while using this skill.

-Signet of Strength - Signet
Your next 1-13 attack deal +5 damage.

-Warrior's Cunning - Skill
For 5-10 seconds your melee attacks cannot be blocked or evaded.

-Tiger Stance - Stance
For 4-9 seconds, you attack 33% faster. Tiger Stance ends if any of your attacks fail to hit.

-Sever Artery - Sword Attack
If this attack hits, the opponent will begin bleeding for 5-21 seconds, losing health over time.

-Quivering Blade {Elite} - Sword Attack
If Quivering Blade hits, you strike for +10-34 damage. If it is "blocked," Quivering Blade is disabled for 4 seconds and you are Dazed for 8 seconds.

-Standing Slash - Sword Attack
If it hits, Standing Slash deals +5-17 damage plus an additional 5-17 damage if you are in a stance.

-Resurrect - Spell
Resurrect target party member. Target party member is returned to life with 25% health and zero energy.
(I use this skill mainly for PvE. For PvP purposes, I would advise you to bring a Resurrection Signet)

Damage Dealing Skills (Spiking Skills)=Signet of Strength, Warriors Cunning, Tiger Stance, Quivering Blade [E], Standing Slash in order.

Degen Skills=Sever Artery

Healing and Backup Skills=Healing Signet and Resurrect

Signet of Strength is Vital for this Build!
Analysis of Signet of Strength
I examined this skill closely and managed to discover a lot of advantages to it. First off, it doesn’t have time duration while active so you can cast it once and it will stay with you forever. Secondly, it’s not about how many seconds, but a matter of how many hits you cause. Thus being a signet, it consumes no energy.

When to cast Signet of strength?
Well, the obvious answer would be just before you encounter a mob/human but as it stays with you forever once casted, It would be logical to use the skill as Soon as you enter a Explorable area/Arena because it has a 45 second cool down and can sometimes be time consuming if you really want to cause some real spiking damage quickly.

Weapons and Shields
For this build, it’s important that you use a sword which is:-

-Max Damage Req 7-11 (anything over 11 swords will result in a weak damage output and will therefore not reach it’s maximum potential)

-Inherent mod can either be 15>50, Dmg +15/-10 Armour, Dmg +15/-5 energy or preferably Dmg +20% (while Hexed) [but not essential]

-I personally use a perfect furious mod as half of the skills in this build are adrenaline based. However, a perfect Sundering Hilt or a Barbed sword Hilt (combined with Server Artery) would go nicely as well.

-It’s good if you can get an almost perfect (preferably perfect) Pommel of Fortitude for this sword.

I personally use this Vertebreaker for this build and it works Perfectly:-

Shields
I tend to use a shield which has the same stats as the crimson carapace shield (Stance) as this contrast nicely with the skill Tiger stance. A good warrior should also carry another shield in weapon slot 2 but this time it should have = Health +60, Received Damage -3 (while Hexed). This is essential if a Mesmer/Necro is slapping some hexes on you.

I personally use this Defender for this build and it works Perfectly:-

Armour + Runes
Personally, I use a 15k Platemail Helm which grants me strength + 1 (Stacking), equipped with a minor rune of strength to give me a total bonus of + 2 strength.
Than the rest of my armour is 15k Gladiator’s equipped with a Superior rune of Absorption, a Superior rune of Vigor, 1 minor Tactics and 1 minor swordsmanship rune. I use Glads because Warrior’s Cunning requires 10 energy and that is quite a hefty amount of energy to pay for just 1 skill for a warrior so I use the best armour for this build.

This is what your Armour and Runes should look like:-

As long as you have a +1 strength helm and Glads armour, you should be good to go :)

Strategies and Tips :-
-As soon as you have spawned in your base/mission/explorable area, cast Signet of strength. When entering battle, follow this up by using warrior’s cunning initially than Tiger’s fury straight after (once you are right next to a opponent of course, not while you are running at the opponent as this wastes energy and seconds).
-Warrior cunning doesn’t let your target block or evade for 10 seconds which is perfect in connection with tiger stance as the powerful stance ends if you fail to strike once in melee. This alone already causes masses amounts of damage and than when your Adrenaline has built up, you can start to use sever artery to start the health degeneration. Than you can start spiking away with standing slash and Quivering Blade [E].
-Try to use your built up adrenaline wisely. i.e. Whilst in a stance, Standing slash deals an additional +16 damage so wait until tiger stance is renewed before using that adrenaline skill.
-Although Quivering Blade is an elite, It still has its disadvantage. Try and use Quivering blade as much as you can while warrior’s cunning is still active as this won’t trigger you getting dazed for 8 seconds.
-To make your monks life easier, use Healing signet when your health is below 35%.
-And of course, resurrect fallen allies.

Substitutions and Possible Alternatives:
Substitution=Tiger Stance-->Defensive Stance
Use this skill while you are fighting against 1 melee attacker (Assassin/Warrior) or you can just use it for generally evading melee attacks and arrows.

Alternatives:-
-Frenzy
-Wary Stance
-Shield Stance
-Bonetti's Defense
-Balanced Stance
-Berserker Stance

Substitution=Resurrect-->Resurrection Chant
If you are in PvE, Use this skill Only when you have killed all mobs/foes. In PvP, I recommend to use it only if your monk dies early.

Alternatives:-
-Resurrection Signet
-Rebirth
-Restore Life

Conclusion
I hoped you enjoyed reading my second guide!
And I hope that you have learnt from this information and I also hope that you will incorporate these tips and strategies into you’re playing so that you will be more confident with using your warrior and hopefully this will strengthen your ideas that you have thought of already.
Expect more guides from me in the future!
Thanks!

Constructive Criticism is all welcome ;)

AMAZING guide.. best guide ive seen on here..

nice build.. ill have to try it once i get out of this bloody vaca house with a peice of crap computer that cant hold GW =(

Sounds like a really nice build to use.

Except...isn't Warriors Cunning still at a 60 second recharge? Or was it 30? Anyway, it doesn't last a long time (10 seconds IS long, granted, but you know, things can happen, especially with a monk)

I also think Standing Slash could be replaced, don't you think. You are missing a +34 damage attack in your attacking rage.

Eeeeh, besides that, it all looks good to me, really.

Nice build, I think I will try it as well. Provided I get all those skills *cough cough*

And damn that's a nice guide. Perfectionist :P

  mrguildboi on 07/22/06 17:04

why do you have +1 into hammer?

  mrguildboi on 07/22/06 17:11

btw i have a different build but can spike sorta. You need...
  • 15^Stance
  • Flurry
  • Silvering Slash
  • Galrath Slash
  • Standing Slash
  • Dragon Slash

when dragon slash is used you should get 5 adrenaline and your other skills should have at least 2ish adrenline on them. that recharges galrath/standing/silverwing instantly. then redo it again and again.

  mrguildboi on 07/22/06 17:13

btw good job on the guide :] very detailed with colors!! :O

I don't know about you, but I always have a minor rune for all warrior attributes on my armour just incase I need to reroll to a hammer warrior as the armour I’m wearing now is my every day armour. Plus, you can’t get rid of runes on your armour unless you replace it with another rune and I don’t want to replace it.

That 1 attribute however has got nothing to do with this build ;-) so just ignore it ;P

  Yeaoman Sirus on 07/22/06 17:53

Great build im going to have to try it out some time on my warrior(whome wich i tend to neglect.).

  mrbob on 07/22/06 18:33

nice build will try it out soon
but more to the pint very nicely laid out guide is how it should be done :)

RE:Everyone  van halen on 07/22/06 18:38

Thx for the compliments guys :-)
You have really lifted my Spirit today
Keep them coming! xD

First things first. This is probably the BEST layed out guide I have ever read. If all guides would be written to this detail, Gameamp would be a paradise.

Anyways. Looks very straight forward. Can't Think of anything you would have to change.

  blaargh12345 on 07/22/06 19:14

For Ab couldn't you switch to a necro secondary and bring plague touch so when you fight a monk with aegis you get dazed then send it to them and disable the monk that way + deal heavy damage?

just my two cents

Not quite sure what you mean by "Ab" but that is what I call a Superb Suggestion! But unfortunately, with the effects of Warrior's Cunning, you won't get dazed often but yeah; it can be great for transferring it to any monk in general. Even if you do transfer it though, the monk will only be dazed for 4-6 secs but even so, I love that suggestion! :)
Though if you do decide to change your second profession to Necro, you are only limited to a small range of rezes which is actually only resurrection Signet.

why does everyone like Quivering Blade??? i thk that Dragon Slash is way better. but i guess thats just my opinion...

  mrguildboi on 07/22/06 21:23

QUOTE

cause its 4 adrenaline and can spike. it does the same damage as galrath/silverwing.

personally i like dragon slash too because of the adrenaline thing, it almost gives infinite adrenaline

  blaargh12345 on 07/22/06 22:28

AB = alliance battle

This build would work there because of fast quick damage, and in there the skill rez isn't needed. It's easier to get yourself dazed first then transfer -> warrior cunning in case another monk tries to protect -> after warrior cunning ends you can just get dazed again to finish off the monk if it tries to recover after the 10 non stop hits.

Monks there do bring a lot of block type skills so it get annoying, and your elite skill would work perfectly + plague

  Duke Terrien on 07/22/06 22:34

If you want to use an Axe, you can take those sword skills out there and add Cleave, Dismember, and Executioner's Strike.

I have tested this build and I have to admit, it kills squishees very quick and also, it works as well in PvE.

But in your photo where you list the runes you have every slot taken up. you are missing the tactics on your own armor according to your attributes, and therefore the pieces that you list as tactics on your armor picture is actually hammer mastery.

and dont worry about replacing runes on armor. its called buying second pieces of armor to equip different runes on them.

  wolfblade on 07/23/06 03:58

Why not use gash it deals around 100 :P

RE:wolfblade  van halen on 07/23/06 04:28

QUOTE

I personally don't use that skill because once you inflict bleeding and gash on a opposing protector monk at the same time, than the monk can than easily Nerf this by using Mend Aliment/Mend condition/Restore Conditions; and can basically regain all their health back. This can be very annoying in most situations so I try not to use too many condition skills for this build.

I already have my second set of armour which is full 15k Ascalon armour, but my minor rune of tactics is applied to my Ascalon helm and it‘s inconvenient because I need a helm which grants me +1 strength (Stacking) as it's very important for this build; So I use my Platemail Helm.

And as for the picture, I just made it to show all you guys what's Best for this build. Having said that, the minor tactics rune is actually the least needed rune for this build as it only goes well with the skill ‘Healing Signet’ which only gives you an additional 15 Health and my shield is strength based anyhow so I won’t be needing my tactics anything higher than 10.

General Tip for Everyone  van halen on 07/23/06 05:03

Oh yeah...I forgot to mention...
Just as a Side Note/Tip:-
If you find that your targeted opponent is always running away from your spiking damage (.i.e. Monk) than you can always Substitute=Sever Artery-->Sprint

As this can be quite useful while Tiger Stance is still recharging and can also be useful for generally making sure that you spike your target good.

Alternatives:-
-Rush

  Powerr Point on 07/23/06 05:10

i just tested it out and it rocks! thanks allot

PvP Skill Bar - Another Alternative  van halen on 07/23/06 08:30

For PvP use (Random Arenas/Team Arenas/Heros' Ascent, Alliance Battle), I Highly recommend that you use this skill bar:-

It has a slight variation but I have tested it countless times and have proven that it works better. All you have to do it take out Resurrect in exchange for Resurrection Signet, and take out Sever Artery and exchange it for Rush.

Good Luck

Daymn!  Backdraft Brawler on 07/23/06 12:17

Man, that build has totally blew me away. I really like that one and gonna try it for sure.

mmh...  Yidd on 07/24/06 03:40

You're dealing high damage, but you're leaving out gash?
Anyway, as always you do things flashy and pretty! nice guide and nice build..

weapons  michaelw on 07/26/06 11:15

kickass build but im poor and cant afford the weapons, is there any cheap alternatives?

RE:michaelw   van halen on 07/26/06 15:54

QUOTE

Of course there is!
Just travel to Droknar’s Forge and pay a visit to the Weapon crafter as he will supply you with a long sword (15>50 inherent mod) for only 5k, 14 iron Ignots and 6 steel Ignots.

Click on the thumbnail below for the location;

Good luck with using my build!

  Brother Christ on 08/16/06 18:51

I'm looking at this and i'm thinking... what if you became a w/n with plague touch in case you got blocked and also rigor mortis? Faster recharge and longer duration of unblockability. There is always the chance of a hex removal, but if you have a necro it can cover hex it.
Thinking... swap ressurect with plauge touch + warriors cunning w/ rigor mortis. Just an idea :D

RE:Brother Christ  van halen on 08/16/06 19:01

That is a nice alternative, but in PvP situations, the hex can easily get removed, especially if that monk has CoP in it's skill bar.
Longer Duration = more of a chance of hex getting removed

For PvE use however, that idea could be very effective :)

  bewing77 on 08/18/06 06:10

In any case, plague touch is great to have if only to get rid of pesky conditions. Blind? No prolbem, just touch it away. Same with cripple, weakness etc, but blind is the biggie, your out of business if you get blinded as is.

And it has the additional bonus of not beeing called noob and have people ragequit in RA when they see a wammo ;)

  HiroAyami on 08/20/06 01:29

As it has already been said, W/N with plague Touch would be a nice addition to the build given Plague Touch = Non attribute and the class is pure warrior. If you're using Sever Artery only, I'd say that is also a waste of an attack and would easily substitute it for a skill like Wild Blow or Final Thrust, Jaizhenju Strike or Power Attack. Bleeding on its own is pretty negligable and the main point of Sever Artery was to use it with Gash which is a very nice chunk of life gone. (Or Sever Artery + Virulence, but thats a pressure build). Putting Sever Artery gives someone the impression of a wannbe half-assed pressure build and well, if you're going to go that route go all the way, the little degen of bleeding is hardly noticable, especially in PvE factions, it's usually removed rather quickly. Not to mention you're not taking full advantage of the + damage focus of the build not to mention the +5 damage of Signet of Strength.

Remember, degen isn't spike damage.

Tor Den Mektige on 09/04/06 01:01

Ron, I have to say this build looks insane :D I want to try it! also, it is one of the nicest written and most well explained guides I have ever seen on amp. Kudos to you! (Might have to make you my guide editor LOL) jk. anyways, great stuff :) ill have to check this out tomorrow when im done with work etc bla bla bla :D

  sirus thevirus on 09/08/06 12:08

This build is so great. Now its the only build ill use when i do an alliance battle with my warrior. I find that using sprint instead of rush and keep sever in the build throws out enough damage to take out a warrior one on one, also in AB i like to take wild blow, helps loads when against touchies as it ends their stance and with a few people attacking them they do down in an instant.

  Punjab Prince on 11/10/06 20:25

Looks like a solid build for pressure and spiking, but I would replace Warrior's Cunning for a speed boost like Rush or Sprint, especially in PvP where monks can be a pain with kiting and stuff. Also, if you want to see a lot more damage output, I would put Swordsmanship at 16 and 8+1 in Strength. The difference in damage is surprising.

Great guide, very well written and laid out.

  Survivingsin on 11/26/06 21:40

Nicely writen guide. I never really fear sword wars when im in random or basically anyway. Only really start getting scaried if i seean assassin or a hammer war. Idk it might work but i just use healing touch, sig of dev and healing breeze and i can take 2 dervs so....idk maybe in AB

  mewy80 on 01/03/07 19:11

What were your base stats without the runes?
