I've used this build in both PvE and PvP and it works pretty well. I personally use a Black Moa bird for this, but if you want to really do well with this, I'd suggest using a Reef Lurker/Crab to enable the most stealth. A bigger pet is easy to notice, but a smaller one may be hard to spot.

First off, here are the attributes and the skills you need.

Enraged Lunge:
Your animal companion attempts an Enraged Lunge that deals +23 damage (maximum bonus 80) for each recharging Beast Mastery skill.

Run as One:
For 15 seconds, you and your pet run 25% faster.

Symbiotic Bond:
For 300 seconds, your animal companion gains +3 Health regeneration, and half of any physical damage dealt to your animal companion is redirected to you.

Call of Protection:
For 120 seconds, your animal companions have a 14 base damage reduction.

Predatory Bond:
For 20 seconds, attacks by your animal companion heal you for 31 health.

Comfort Animal:
You heal your animal companion for 104 points. If your companion is dead, it is resurrected with 58% Health.

Charm Animal:
Charm target animal. Once charmed, your animal companion will travel with you whenever you have Charm Animal equipped.

Troll Unguent:
For 10 seconds, you gain Health regeneration of +8.

This is what I usually use. But you can take Run as One out and use Call of Haste too. I use Run as One because then both of us get the speed boost.

You could also take out Run as One and put Otyugh's Cry in, since that will give your pet an extra 20AL bonus.

Armor really isn't that important, but Druid's armor does help a bit with the energy. As you can see, I use two superior runes. The extra health doesn't really matter since people generally attack your pet once they figure out where the damage is coming from.

As for weapon choice, Flatbow or Longbow would work, since they both have the longest range. Really doesn't matter because you aren't dealing damage anyway.

PvE Strategy

Take out Run as One and put Call of Haste or Otyugh's Cry. And take out either Troll Unguent or Predatory Bond and put Res in there.

Simple. Just let the warrior get the aggro, then send your pet in. Cast 2, 3, 4, 5 then cast 1 whenever you can.

PvP Strategy

The idea of this build is to surprise your foe. People don't put much stock into pets, so don't realize their potential.

As you shoot your arrow at your enemy to send your pet to them, cast 2, 3, 4, and 5. Then cast Enraged Lunge. And keep casting Enraged Lunge every time it recharges. Once (2, 3, 4, 5) recharge, recast them. It is essential to keep them recharging for Enraged to work.

Symbiotic Bond is a great skill to use, but you need to use Predatory Bond and Troll Unguent to counter the damage you recieve from this.

With this build, I regularly get 120 damage on 60AL foes; and 70-80 damage on 100AL foes. And this is accomplished every 5 seconds.

One of the great things about using pets is that people don't tend to face pets. Either they run away or they fight someone else, which means that your pet's chance of scoring critical hits is high.

This build is also nice for soloing shrines, GvG bases, etc. Pets have 80 AL, so adding +3 regen, halved damage, and base 14 damage reduction makes this a hard pet to kill.

Nice Build  General Silver on 07/17/06 19:49

Very nice build i think im going to try it now :D Yep seems like a alsome build only one problem. For Pvp You might need sme rez

  cswella on 07/17/06 19:53

I generally use this build in AvA, but yeah, replace whichever skill with rez you want.

  SoulessSyphon on 07/17/06 20:54

Very nice build, I was thinking of using a build like this, but didn't have the skills for it ^^

  KaiSwiftblade on 07/17/06 21:11

I've used this same build in the past (with a Black Moa too, WOOT!) and it works great. Only negative thing I would say about your guide Cswella is that this same build is posted on GuildWiki. Not all people check the builds section there, but it's there. Good guide :)

  cswella on 07/17/06 21:14

If you mean this one, I think mine's a bit more solid.

  Fat_Smurf on 07/18/06 07:53

nice one :) I'll give it a try once I decide to change my ranger to faction side :P

Replace Run As One with Call Of Haste :) Run as one.... the master don't need to run much anyways ^^ I love using this build.... People don't expect to see 100s coming from pets. ALthough I don't use SB much, since I'm attacked more than my pet.... Ya know EL counts towards itselF?

  Dark Knight on 07/18/06 10:37

Good job, I was trying to work on a Build using Enraged Lunge.

  Yeaoman Sirus on 07/18/06 18:12

Hmmm i just might have to try this build myself looks like i might beable to pwn.(not that i never didn't pwn or ne thing heh).

  The labmonkey on 07/19/06 10:39

The new "bonus damage for recharging skills" attacks are interesting. I like combining Doom with spirit spam and Rupture Soul for a lot of PVE damage from Doom, Spirit attacks and exploding spirits.

Good build.

Nice post its very similar to the beast master build I use, but one suggestion use a staff instead of a long bow you'll find the +15 energy is very useful, besides the bow won't do anymore damage than a staff will.

  wolfblade on 07/19/06 15:02

or if you want to use a bow use a +5 energy one :)

  Angels2me on 07/19/06 15:43

a nice staff would be:

millius pillar, very cheap easy to find (not as drop but as a thing to buy from other players =p) and has a +15 energy and +30 health bonus.

  flyinghippo on 10/08/06 11:43

First off I have to say the build sucks. I play BM so I know how deadly they can be.

One pet attack? c'mon... thats only an extra 16 DPS. Secondly, why 4 extra BM skills? Enraged Lunge counts itself. Take out both Predatory Bond and Symbiotic Bond. Predators Pounce + Comfort Animal is plenty to keep him alive and even if he does die, he doesnt get DP so it doesnt matter anyways. Take CoH instead of RaO as already said.

And what the hell is going on with your stats? 11 WS only for troll unguent? and only 15 BM? Drop WS down to atleast 10 (Still gives +8 regen) although I would put it all the way down to 8 or even get rid of it completely and take whirling defence. Your monk should be healing you and protection IMO is far more useful then compared to troll unguent. By the time you've casted it, you're either mostly dead if you have no monk/bad monk or you've already been healed back to max but more often then not you've just been interupted.

And why a bow at all? The tank should be the one pulling. And with only 1 marksmanship you'll actually do more damage with a staff.

  Uber Darkness on 10/17/06 19:33

erm, you did see he said he mostly uses it in PVP, did you not? ;_;

  Im Nuclear on 03/08/07 16:36

I have the exact same bow...o.o except, I have it as zodiac and celestial :D
