Now, this is my first guide, so try to take it easy on me. Any ideas in change of skills, etc. should be considered; keep in mind that I’m the type of player that doesn’t like to just stand back, so aggressive skills can and will come in handy. I know many are not fans of the hammer, so one could customize to how they see fit; personally, I’ll take doing more damage before more armor. The setup included is meant for PvE, but with revisions, can be a good PvP character. In which case, if anyone likes this build, I'll do a W/Ne PvP build. Here we go……
SKILLS:
Well of Blood: nice addition when things get a lil’ hairy or with nukers in the party
Vampiric Touch: helpful when some life is needed and wanting to do some draining; best used one-on-one
Unholy Feast: can be helpful w/ X amount of enemies around (more to drain-gain, opposed to VT)
Suffering: degen can be a beautiful thing
Backbreaker (Elite): knockdown and +x damage
Belly Smash: when enemy(-ies) are blinded, things can be easier
Irresistible Blow: cannot be evaded
For the last skill, I usually pack a Res Signet, but the open space can be used for an optional skill, such as Signet of Capture.
EQUIPMENT:
Any could work really, but I use all Gladiator (except for the Helm- it’s Knight) Drok’s armor with various runes: Minor Strength, Minor and Major Absorption, Minor Hammer Mastery and Major Vigor. I don't really like to use Superior Runes, due to the knock on health.
WEAPON(S):
Currently I’m using a gold Heavy War Hammer of Hammer Mastery (17-32, req. 11, dmg +15% while above 50% health, lengthens weakness by 33%, Hammer Mastery +1.) I have a max damage hammer, but it does not have as many mods.
ATTRIBUTES:
Blood Magic: 9
Death Magic: 4
Curses: 9
Strength: 2
Hammer Mastery: 12
This leaves me with 2 attribute points. I hate not using them, but I haven’t come up with anything yet. I have the attributes set up this way due to my usage of henchies. If you are in a group consisting mostly of PCs, then you can change up Death Magic to 9 and put Curses at 4. That's the good thing about this build; it's flexible.
STRATEGY:
What I’ve found that works is aggresiveness (no silly aggros, though.)
(One Enemy)
Use Vampiric Touch instead of Unholy Feast; you gain more life with VT in a one-on-one scenario. Depending on the situation, you will be less likely to use Well of Blood. If in one-on-one and the enemy has thrown up a Ward vs. Melee, then Irresistible Blow is very handy. Chances are that you will not gain enough adrenaline for Backbreaker.
(Multiple Enemies)
Start off using Unholy Feast when you have at least 2 enemies in your vicinity; the recharge time takes a lil' bit, so if you still wanna drain-gain, use Vampiric Touch. Vampiric Touch takes-gives more than Unholy Feast, but if you have X amount of enemies around, you gain more. When having, whether NPC’s or PC’s, nukers or other “back players,” and you have disposed of an enemy or two, Well of Blood and its heatlh regen can be a god-send to them. When you have the adrenaline built up, use Backbreaker, quickly followed by Belly Smash. Good energy usage is a key; once you get the hang of it, you can time the fluctuation of the skills. Sometimes, you may also wanna pack a Well of Suffering (enemies have -X health degen); it can be helpful in certain situations.
NOTE: Being a Warrior, there's gonna be times when you are blinded; it happens. So, if you find yourself in the situation where you are blinded, the Necro spells REALLY come in handy; especially Vampiric Touch and Unholy Feast. I might end up blinded, but as a Warrior, I'm gonna try and find a way to keep my health up and do damage, no matter how small or large. Sometimes, you have to play "small ball."
It takes a bit of patience with this build; I’ve changed the skills up so many times and have died my fair share of times trying to find what works best in a given situation. Also, this build, much like pretty much all W/* builds, can be a good runner; I’ve opened almost all of the Desert by myself, using henchies as cannon fodder and even fighting through at times. Farming can be quite fun and profitable as well. This was my build for my first character and I still can’t find myself enjoying my other characters. I guess you just never forget your first. :)
Thanx for reading and let me know what ya think!!
