There are too many people using monks to farm. All of them are 55's. I too, have a 55 monk. Even though they have been called the "InvinciMonk" i still managed to die with too many enemies attacking me at once. I have yet to die with this build, but can still farm at close to the same rate. Enjoy

Armor - Ascalon Legs and Feet (15AL)
Weapon - +5 energy sword with enchantments +20%

Monk/Mesmer
Level: 20

Smiting Prayers: 12 (11+1)
Protection Prayers: 10 (9+1)
Inspiration Magic: 7
Illusion Magic: 8

Spirit Bond (Protection Prayers)
For 8 seconds, whenever target ally takes more than 60 damage from a single attack or Spell, that ally is healed for 80 Health.
Energy:10 Cast:0.25 Recharge:2

Protective Spirit (Protection Prayers)
For 17 seconds, target ally cannot lose more than 10% max Health due to damage from a single attack or Spell.
Energy:10 Cast:0.25 Recharge:5

Channeling (Inspiration Magic)
For 30 seconds, whenever you cast a Spell, you gain 1 Energy from each foe in the area.
Energy:5 Cast:1 Recharge:15

Sympathetic Visage (Illusion Magic)
For 14 seconds, whenever target ally is hit by a melee attack, all adjacent foes lose all adrenaline and 3 Energy.
Energy:10 Cast:1 Recharge:30

Shield of Judgment [Elite] (Smiting Prayers)
For 18 seconds, anyone striking target ally with an attack is knocked down and suffers 41 damage.
Energy:15 Cast:1 Recharge:45

Retribution (Smiting Prayers)
While you maintain this Enchantment, whenever target ally takes attack damage, this Spell deals 33% of the damage back to the source (maximun 17 damage).
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:0

Essence Bond (Monk other)
While you maintain this Enchantment, whenever target ally takes physical damage, you gain 1 Energy.
Energy:10 Cast:2 Recharge:0

Vital Blessing (Protection Prayers)
While you maintain this Enchantment, target has +147 maximum Health.
Energy:10 Cast:0.75 Recharge:2

This works just like the traditional 55 monk. Cast your 3 long term enchantments. Cast Channeling then run into a big group of enemies. Cast Protective Spirit then Spirit Bond. Cast Sheild of Judgement, then replenish Spirit Bond and Protective Spirit when needed. Let them attack you till they fall.

So far this has worked anywhere that you can 55. Elona Reach Minotaurs and Droknars Forge Mountain Trolls.

Side Note - This is my first build posted on this site. Comments and Complaints (Let's hope there are none) are welcome.

hehe, i made the first comment

  xyfire on 06/27/06 20:55

Welcome to GameAmp. Thanks for this guide, i needed it. Now i have to delete my monk(lvl 11) that i was going to make into a 55 becasue her 2ndary proffesion is ritualist.

  xyfire on 06/27/06 20:56

CRAP!!!! Just a second ago i was going to post the first comment. You beat me to it, well... At least i lost to a Naruto fan.

  cswella on 06/27/06 21:02

Xyfire, you know you can change your secondary profession, right?

  lenway on 06/27/06 22:08

I wouldn't count on it cswella.

useless skill?  The Master Arche on 06/27/06 22:32

i like that fact that you are being original....but wouldn't prot spirit make spirit bond useless? beacuse in order for spirit bond to work you have to take MORE than 60 damage, and since you have 600hp with prot spirit you can only be hurt a maximum of 60, and no more..

if you are staggering them then it is not useless, but other wise it is.

this is just a thought

  NecroRebel on 06/27/06 22:41

From what I've heard about this build, Spirit bond comes into effect BEFORE Prot Spirit, so you take ~200 damage as far as Spirit bond is concerned (so it heals you) and THEN Prot Spirit comes reduces it to 60, so you get healed for more than you can possibly be hurt.

  Smrt on 06/28/06 00:16

Master Arche, If you add it up. Or try it for yourself. You have 480 health with no extra hp (runes or offhands) with Vital Blessing you have 627. Thus you take 62 damage per hit which will trigger Spirit Bond

Gnomes of War on 06/28/06 01:15

um yea....why did u take my avatar xyfire????? and dont say you had it first either b/c thats kinda childish if u ask me....o and nice build btw Smrt.

  goofooman on 06/28/06 01:38

holy shit i just realized how brilant this build is. However, what happens if your just fighting a 0ne or two enemies. wouldnt energy be a problem?

i say one or two enimies because even if you go after a large group, in the end it will be down to one or two of um and then energy might become a problem.

  mriswith on 06/28/06 01:57

I have seen this build before on GuildWiki i think it was. I also thought that i read that a low AL was required for the optimization of the build. The higher the infilcted dagame the more bounces back to the foe. Because of PS you yourself wont lose more then 10%; so actually it doesnt matter if you have 70AL or 10AL. However for retribution tow work at its best; 10AL is best.

  mriswith on 06/28/06 01:59

Lol; saw i missed the line of 15AL; anyway; a explanation for non-monkers would've been nice; because some might wonder why its less effective with their droks armour.
Anyway; GJ

  goofooman on 06/28/06 02:11

is SV realy that important?

  Ulv on 06/28/06 02:12

Seen it, been there, used it, hated it. I like the 55 challange :P
And I like farming my necro more

  cswella on 06/28/06 02:20

I agree with goofooman. Unless you're grouping up with enemy monks, SV really isn't that important.

I can see it stopping some interrupts, but I'd drop the skill and take Guardian for that. Plus you get to use the points in Illusion for something else.

  SoulessSyphon on 06/28/06 02:21

*Channeling*
*Energy Drain*
*Energy Tap*
*Ether Feast*
*Ether Lord*
*Debilitating shot*
*Repeat*

Ahh woops  SoulessSyphon on 06/28/06 02:22

Woops, sorry.
I never PvE anymore, so it never occured for me that you didn't mean faction farming. :x

Why guardiain? failed attacks mean you do no damage to them.

  Smrt on 06/28/06 09:19

To be honest i like having SV in there because of all the purple letters in the air once u use it. Its just something to watch XD

To give you time to cast SoJ without interrupt. You'd only use it to cast SoJ, not while you have SoJ on you.

  Im Not A Lemon on 06/28/06 13:45

you need ascalon armor to make sure they do more than 60 damage to you

if they're doing 59 damage each time you'll be dead soon, or any damage less than 60.

  Angels2me on 06/28/06 14:54

if u dont fell like spending money u could even use the starters gear, or the collecters gear from pre-searing =;p

  Decromos on 06/28/06 21:48

If you have factions, get the Shing Jea Monastery armor, you can get the Ascetic's armor. It's cheap also, 50 per piece and the cheapest only requires cloth and tanned hide.

Also, I went solo UW with this build. You actually don't need the 600hp thing. When I had deep wound on me it still worked with less than 600 hp. Whomever said spirit bond went before prot spirit was correct.

For UW at least I would drop all Mesmer skills, pick up Blessed Aura for the longer enchants and Zealots Fire for that little bit of extra damage. Also, put a Sup Smite rune on your head tatoo. Put your extra points into smite and divine favor.

  Decromos on 06/28/06 21:51

Forgot to mention, I would also pick up Bal's Spirit for energy management. You could also swap Zealot's Fire for Blessed Sig.

Vital Blessing :]  The Master Arche on 06/28/06 23:51

sorry, didn't notice Vital Blessing.....so there is no "useless" skill.....my bad

  Decromos on 06/29/06 00:25

LOL, didn't test full UW run. Grasping darknesses only do 40 damage, even without any armor on.

btw, I forgot to mention that this guide rocks!

  Gaarcia on 06/29/06 08:32

Spirit bond is from factions, (should have said that), but what could i take if i dont got factions ? just need something to fill out the spirit bond...

  Im Not A Lemon on 06/29/06 10:48

ive tried it with sup runes on, so i have ~300health and spirit bond still triggered, but i suppose if you keep lowering your health, this will just be a 55build with spirit bond instead of healing breeze, but only lasts 8 seconds not 10 :P

but i guess its cheaper, because you need low armour, and dont use sup runes.

its better in places where there is degen, aslong as there is still other people hitting you(>=60) to keep your health up

your wrong, vital blessing IS the useless skill.

  smasher on 07/01/06 13:01

y have prot sprit when u have 600 health. that would do u no good
<--------------- DANCIN MILK HERE( GIMME a DOLLA)

  Critis Coldfire on 07/02/06 02:19

The reason for using protective spirit with this setup is to cap the amount of damage you take so your being healed for more life than taking damage.

600hp  joe966 on 07/02/06 06:30

How do you get to 600hp, normal health at lvl 20 is 480hp + major vigor you have 521hp and with a Superior vigor its 530hp so how do you actually get 600hp do u need a weapon upgrade ?

  cruger on 07/03/06 14:39

i think Mo/W would be better.
because as some1 said, darkness only do 40 dmg, and if ur a mo/w u could bring frenzy maing it 80.
also u could bring bonettins as energy managment, with would be awsome.

great guide tho. much better than the 55.

  doglar on 07/04/06 17:13

where is a good place to farm with 600hp because trolls suck ass and can you do UW with 600hp monk?

  Smrt on 07/04/06 21:17

I think the problem you are having in UW is that... Dont darkness inflict deep wound. Lowering your health below 600 which would make this build kind of useless.

And for 600 hp without degen... Umm. Well, you could use 480 (base) + 30 from weapon (510) +30 from offhand (540) plus sup vigor (590) and maybe the pants and shoes could be the ones with +HP. That should put you just over 600 hp.

  cruger on 07/05/06 08:52

as some1 stated earlier spirit bond is counted beofre prot spirit, so u dont actualy need 600 hp.

  doglar on 07/05/06 11:59

someone plz awswer my questions because im kinda pissed that i cant farm minatours and i want to know if i can farm UW alone or and different plac ei can farm thats not freakin trolls because they drop stuff that are 8 GOLD omfg

Solution: Be a monk/warrior. Bring Frenzy :P
Its a lot extra energy I know... but you DO take double damage.

  Michel Longshorts on 07/05/06 14:41

woops didnt notice the earlier comment. sorry cruger.

  doglar on 07/06/06 11:17

guys am i invisible im asking a question and no one has answered it omfg guys ANSWER my questions because im relaly pissed and i wanna make money

  doglar on 07/06/06 16:28

OMFG THIS BUILD IS ANNOYING THE CRAP OUT OF ME. FIRST OF ALL I CANT FARM MINITOURS ANYMORE, ALL I CAN FARM IS TROLLS, I CANT DO UW WITH SS ANYMORE. WAT GOOD IS THIS BUILD DUDE. PLZ SOMEONE ETELL ME A PLACE I CAN FARM OR A SKILL I CAN USE TO STOP SHADOW FORM STRIPPING MY ENCHANTMENTS.

  Wolfvane on 07/06/06 18:05

Can you use this build in PvP and GvG

  cruger on 07/07/06 08:56

i think ( i havent actually tried) that u could solo uw with this build.

being a mo/w using frenzy to get double dmg and bringing spellbraker before each group, then running in. use a wand to kill nightmares.
and just let retribution to all the damage. its gonna take a while. but i think its possible.

  cruger on 07/07/06 08:57

and @ doglar:

if u dont like the build dont use it.

  Smrt on 07/07/06 13:16

Doglar
1. Calm Down
2. You can farm minotaurs at the beginning of the elona mission
3. It is possible to farm UW solo with this build
4. Dont farm anywhere (or even try) when there are enemies that can strip enchants

  doglar on 07/07/06 14:16

will sorry i got a little mad it was because i couldnt farm the minotours at the bigginning of elona missoin and that no one was answering me. and i tried farming UW and the shadow keep taking enchants of and i gey owned so anyone know a way i can ignore them?

  The Soysauceman on 07/08/06 17:12

55 Vrs 600

55's and 600's both are weak against interrupt though 600's are slightly better.

55's hate health deg 600's kinda do if they got enough melee on them

55's have a limit of how many enemies they can take. 600's dont

55's are way more expensive to make :D 600's aint!

  Spyder Shadowhunter on 07/09/06 04:07

I started to use this build just after I got factions(May 20)
Except that I dont use any armor :D And no Vital Blessing :D
And another thing ...
YOU DONT NEED 600 HP :P
If you dont belive me try it :D
Tip:If you want to get Kurzick Faction go to
Fort Aspenwood(Kurzick) and TANK one of the Turtle Squads :D

  doglar on 07/09/06 14:21

guys ok i got the idea but just give me someplaces i can farm in ok plz and how to farm UW(ignoring the shadow)

  lundis on 07/10/06 10:06
