Hi all folks, this is my first guide so feel free to comment how bad/good this build works.

In this guide I’m going to show you a build I stumbled upon when I did Luxon vs Kurzick. It works in almost any PvP style, but perhaps best in random and luxon vs kurzick. it has been reported to work in PvE aswell, with some modifications. It's really simple and deadly effective when you get hold of it.

Runes:
Major dagger mastery
Minor crit strikes
Minor shadow arts
Sup Vigor (not completely necessary, but it helps)

Stats (included runes):
Dagger Mastery= 15 (12+2+mask)
Critical Strikes= 9 (8+1)
Shadow Arts= 11 (10+1)

The skill build is like the following:

1. Golden Lotus Strike (you strike for +20 dmg, and if you are under the effect off an enchantment, you gain +10 energy)
2. Jagged Strike (for 9 sec, targets is bleeding)
3. Wild Strike (you strike for +20 dmg and target loose 1 stance)
4. Horns Of The Ox (you strike for +30dmg and if foe is not adjacent to any other foes, that foe is knocked down)
5. Death Blossom (you strike for +40dmg, and any adjacent foe also takes +40dmg)
6. Leaping Mantis Sting (target foe takes +20 dmg and if moving, target is crippled for 15 sec)
7. Shadow Refuge (for 4 sec, the you gain 9+ health regen, and if you still are attacking you gain 64 health)
8. Aura of displacement (When you cast Aura of Displacment, Shadow Step to target foe. When you stop maintaining Aura of Displacement, you return to your original location)

Weapon:
When it comes to weapon, you MUST choose the daggers that have +5 energy, or else this build is useless. What upgrades you choose are pretty much the same, for myself I use +25 health.

Armor:
The +15 arm while attacking is the most suitable one for this build.

How it’s done:
As we can see, you have 6 attacking skills, and 2 defensive skills. I have seen many good assassin builds being shattered because they have so poorly defensive skills. So that’s why I came up with this idea.

The most important skill is Aura of Displacement (AoF). When you spot an enemy, use Aof and quickly continue with the combo Jagged Strike, Wild Strike, Horns of the Ox/Death Blossom. By now, your foe should be dead, but if he’s not, use Golden Lotus Strike and repeat. Because of the energy boost you get with that skill and with your critical strikes, you will NEVER EVER run out of energy (trust me).

If you are just about to die, simply dismiss AoF(which makes you teleport) and heal up with shadow refuge. It is wise to teleport back when you are under 200 life, since some of the damage will follow you. The key about the whole build is that you keep AoF on all the time and moves. Most enemies will give up running when you all of a sudden are on the other side of the map. Leaping mantis sting is only used when your target tries to run away (monks tend to be cowards and run).

If you wanna use this build in random area or team area, you might want to swap Leaping mantis sting with a rez signet.

Targets:
You can take almost any kind of profession with this build. The easiest is spellcasters, healers and assassins. It is slightly harder with warriors (particularly wammos) and rangers (thouchers), but no problem if they don’t attack you. A real killer is if you manage to make a 4 team consisting of only assassins, it's just sooo funny to watch everyone drop dead within seconds. As always, remember to call

I am a perfectionist, and I would like to see as many comments on how this build could be better, so feel free to ask about anything that I didn’t light up good enough. If you want to ask me anything about the build in-game, then my name is Wyat Hawke (duh…)
Happy Killing And Faction Gaining!

Nice guide, but I don't see it as being too... say... logical?

How do those 3 strikes kill them alone? I haven't seen an assassin deal 500 damage in 3 attacks.
Also, degen might hurt this build quite a bit because it stays on ya :)

  Wyat_hawke on 06/26/06 05:11

well, is I said you should leave when you'r under 200 dmg, thus giving you plenty of time to heal up with shadow refuge. you might want to switch that skill if you are a monk, but i wanted to build a pure assassin build. nevertheless, you will survive even with -9 degen, as long as you remember to teleport away
But the damage thing was right, you have to use the combo a couple of times, but that is no problem since you wont run out of energy =) thanks for sorting that out.

1 Question:

Where is the damn Res Signet?

  Wyat_hawke on 06/26/06 06:18

you should read the whole text before asking lol.the setup i showed was mostly for Luxon vs Kurzick, but it clearly states that if you are gonna do random area or team area, you might wanna switch leaping mantis sting with a rez signet.... but i might have highlighted it a bit more, I'll do it next time I make a build

Yeah it is. Wild Strike is an Assassin offhand attack; you're thinking Wild Blow, which is a warrior skill which also removes a stance.

Um, yeah, we aren't cowards, we are smart. You must think us stupid for just standing there and letting you kill us. Right.

  Ryolan Levi on 06/26/06 10:10

I wonder why you use a Major rune of dagger mastery, when a Superior will do better, the loss of health isn't that much with Sup Vig on you. I reckon the +1 in dagger mastery is more than worth the extra HP loss, since you will be teleporting out anyways when you get to take damage...

  Fat_Smurf on 06/26/06 13:05

yea you should use sup rune and when you get 16 dagger mastery you atatck 1 time / second instead of 1 time/1.33 second

QUOTE
Daggers hit in combat every 1.33 seconds. Dagger Mastery of 16 increases the "average attack speed" to 0.99 seconds due to the double strikes that trigger at higher probablity.

oh and thx about wild strike :D

  vvolfenstein on 06/26/06 19:48

ummm.... if i do recall is death blossom not a dual attack? how do u use horns of the oxe then death right after it, unless u use another secondary after it.

  vvolfenstein on 06/26/06 19:54

i ment another off-hand after it.

Second if you prefer to use an assasin build that can easily support itself you can check out the build i had written a while back you can try the actual build itself or the other one i made up in the comment section. (they are kind of better then running in hitting a little bit then running away like a coward) :P Nice try though but IMO i don't like it.

IMO you should read it. / means "or", if you aren't familiar with this kind of speech.

Good guide

Ahh, perfect, please give out more warrior and assassin kurzick guides, my mesmer just loves the faction i get >:)

  Wyat_hawke on 06/27/06 05:03

my idea of this build, was not to make the most degen on a person, (there are plenty of necroes and mesmers to do that). For me, an assassin should get in, kill and get out. nowadays, nearly evereyone with mo/* or */mo has brought meind almeint to counter all the degen stuff. I wanted to make a build who simply dealt dammage. besides, this is a faster way of killing people then, for an example vvolfeinstens degen build. i also wanted to make a build that was so easy that even the biggest noobs would be master killers within minutes.

but again, thanks for all the constructive critism that I have got, I really enjoy it.

  nephotep on 06/27/06 08:00

i use almost the same build, but im a necro with plague touch too so poison and bleeding and stuff all goes back to the source >)

  sorudo on 06/27/06 14:58

it's a good build to kill just 1 person, but an elementalist/mesmer can kill this almost instandly.
i got an n/e and already can reach 260 dmg, this build will just be a walking target for me....

  Corrupt_1 on 06/27/06 18:50

Interresting build and all but that...
QUOTE

...was very uncalled for. It would be foolish for a monk NOT to stay in constant movement to reduce damage being dealt to them. But you will only understand the concept of running/moving while healing when you play a monk the proper way.

Charlotte The Harlot on 06/27/06 21:16

why is aura being called aof wouldnt aod make more sence aside from that althought i havnt tried your build i to agree high dmg assns that get in and out are mroe effective than the condition stacking ones in alliance battles atleast

well, there is some things you have forgotten. firstly necro skills and some mesmer skills (empathy ex.) has casting time... giving me much time to finish you. If im even luckier i might shatter you'r build using horns of the ox, which will give you a knockdown, and thus interrupt you. I would like to see a build (without ineptudte or something, elite mesmer) that could take out my assassin build in AB. So far, I havent met anyone, but ill be happy if i find one. =)

  Wyat_hawke on 06/28/06 02:57

oh, and i wont die from 260 dmg lol. And how do your energy management work out?

By saying you can reach 260 damage you mean...
You can take 260 damage w/o dying?
You can deal 260 damage in 1 attack?
You can deal 260 damage in a combo?
You can deal 260 damage in under _ seconds?
You don't know how PvP works?
You're under level 10 and think pre-searing is the whole world, so 260 damage is MASSIVE?

yeah i agree with surudo i could easily dominate this build with my nuker or spiker usually 3 hits and he is dead sry. Ele are the best lol. Except for the fact that i hate mesmers except when i play them lol.

were u get that weapon??

QUOTE

When you create you'r pvp-only assassin, you can pick it from the list of weapons that pop up when you'r finnished with making his clothes. If you wanna own that weapon in PvE, the name is hooked daggers i think. Just scream out that you wanna buy daggers with a+5 energy mod.

Ps: uhm lion7 and sorudo, I have an Ele/Me myself, so I know you'r both lying. you see, you can easily get around 260 dmg, its just that the big dammage spells have a long casting time, and a even longer recharge... So you'll be able to finnish one combo in around 5-7 sec (if you use a standard fire ele build) while the assassin will start to hit on his second or third round. Besides, when maxed out fireball (for an ecxample) states that it does 119 dmg. But thats wrong, it usually does 40-50 depending on the foes armor. With an assassin, you get +so and so damage, which is PERMANENT. that means that unless the foe has some defense enchantment +40 is +40.
I have nothing against eles and mesmers, I rhink they'r awesome, and I would be happy to see a build that could easily beat an assassin. So, next time, instead of saying you'r gonna own me, show the build and tell me why...

  vincent_the_brave on 07/23/06 11:45

thnx wyat:D

can u tell me how much these +5 NRG are worth??

i saw on guildwiki u can buy +5 NRG in divine path ffor 10k but still thnx!

QUOTE

Well, for my pve char I bought of a fella for 15k(wanted to help him). Prices vary hughly, but I think between 7k-12k is the price.

(I don't know a title)  Aku_Kiler70 on 03/16/07 15:47

Ok... so mainly this build is for PvP, right? And if it does work in PvE, which game are the skills from, Factions or Nightfall?

  Wyat_hawke on 03/18/07 18:42

It was designed for PvP, but you can use it in both if you want, just reapply AoD more often. This is an somewhat old build, so all the skills are from Factions, if you have NF I'm sure there are some skills you can add for extra damage or defense
