This is my complete guide to W/Mo Post-Nerf Griffon Farming. (The Scar)

This is the news-straight from A-net

"Kepkhet Marrowfeast, Queen of the Scarabs, has brought her brood to the desert, drawn by the plentiful corpses of griffon, minotaur, and even other scarabs. The insect brood now infests the "Prophets Path," so travelers be warned!"

Well I'm sure most of you are familiar with Griffon farming, But what you may not be aware of is that A-net decided to replace all the Griffons with Scarabs! After the big upset
and listening to little kids complain, whine, and try to form 3 man Scarab farming groups, I decided to be optimistic and form my NEW build for farming Griffons! Enjoy!

Well first is the skill setup,For a WARRIOR/MONK. You do not specifically need your skills in this order, but these are the skills I use.

Skills-

1. Executioner's Strike For extra damage, when able to attack.
2. Sprint For extra speed boost when needed.
3. Cyclone Axe Your way of gaining Adrenaline.
4. Gladiators Defense Your main source of damage.
5. Bonetti's Defense Your source of energy regen.
6. Vigorous Spirit Healing purposes.
7. Live Vicariously Healing purposes.
8. Mending Health regen.

1.If this attack hits, you strike for +10-34 damage.

2.For 8-13 seconds, you move 25% faster.

3.Perform a spinning axe attack striking for +4-10 damage to all adjacent opponents.

4.For 5-11 seconds, you have 75% chance to block incoming attacks. Whenever you block a melee attack this way, the attacker suffers 5-35 damage.

5.For 5-10 seconds, you have a 75% chance to block incoming melee attacks and arrows. You gain 5 energy for each successful melee attack blocked. Bonetti's Defense ends if you use a skill.

6.For 30 seconds, each time target ally attacks or casts a spell, that ally is healed for 1-11 health.

7.While you maintain this enchantment, whenever target ally hits a foe, you gain 2-17 health. In addition to the initial energy cost, you also lose 1 point of energy regeneration while the enchantment is in effect.

8.While you maintain this enchantment, target ally gains health regeneration of +1-3. In addition to the initial energy cost, you also lose 1 point of energy regeneration while the enchantment is in effect.

Attributes-

Of course, You can Boost strength and weaken Tactics to suit your shield requirements.

Equipment-
One Minor strength, tactics, and axe mastery rune
Minor-Superior Vigor
Minor-Superior Adsorbtion

Max damage axe, preferably with Fortitude, Sundering, Furious, Vamp, Zealous, Or Armor mods.
A Max defense shield, preferably with Fortitude or Damage reduction mods.

Max armor from Droks, Citadel or Grotto.
Note-I suggest using Glads armor for the extra energy

The will to farm :)

First off, travel to Destiny's Gorge.
Zone outside To "The Scar."
Cast Mending, wait for your energy to regenerate, Then cast Live Vicariously.
(Refer to map) Follow the path on the map, killing mobs of Griffons on the way
If your not sure how to Kill the mobs correctly, This is how.

Once you collect your aggro of Griffons, your going to want to cast Gladiators Defense.
While this is up, Cast Vigorous Spirit. You want to do this for the health gain on hit, and since Gladiators Defense is not canceled when you cast a skill, this is the perfect time to use it.
After those steps are done, with Gladiators Defense still running, hit cyclone axe to build adrenaline.
By now Gladiators Defense should be out, Now is the time to cast "Bonetti's Defense."
With that casted, wait for energy to regenerate, then hit cyclone axe again.
Your adrenaline for Bonetti's Should be up by now, but if it is not, hit the Griffons a few more times and hit Bonetti's.
Keep doing Bonetti's/Cyclone axe until Glad. Defense is recharged, Then Cast Gladiators defense, Vigorous Spirit, and Then hit cyclone axe again.
Pick up drops, Rinse, Repeat!

A few helpful hints- When facing Rock-shots, if you don't think you can take them, make sure to use sprint.
If you get low on HP, you can always run off.
After about 30 or so runs, Drops begin to get worse and worse.
Id your items before selling them, And keep only the golden items (Unless your in need of purples)
Salvage Your bows, And use the wood that comes from them to craft parchment (Great way to make money)

PM me if you need help with this, I will gladly show you how.

awesome  teh_abominable37 on 03/04/06 11:13

This is an awesome guide to farming griffons but if you can just PM me or something a screenshot of where the griffons are so im prepared, that will be cool. Thanks!

Thnx m8, you just officially trashed the last griffon farming place by revealing it to public, thanks to you it'll be swarmed with scarabs in about few days.

As for constructive criticism: I'd replace the exe strike with healing breeze if I was you, makes it easier to survive and you'll need the adrenaline for bonettis.

  Gjilu on 03/04/06 13:19

I've farmed there once or twice but because you have to do such small groups at once whihc make sit kinda slow IMO.

  Lunarx1 on 03/04/06 14:03

This guide is for people that need quick cash farming griffons. If you have a better way of farming, please do so.

As for Teh_abominable37, just pm me in game ill show you

  Aidan_Adelbern on 03/04/06 19:14

Excellent guide! Thanks for posting! I was alittle disappointed when they nerfed the original area, glad to see there is an alternate.

Ive already made a similar build once the AoE nerf came out.

First I used SoJ, then I replaced it for Glads Defense. Instead of the Razorstone I use the axe made in Droks and upped it w/ a 3/1 vamp haft and a grip of enchant, and customized it. Since mending is on -1 arrow degen is covered.

It will be really sad if ANet screws up the desert by filling it with annoyin scarabs. Lets see how they gonna handle the runnin business once Faction is out. I bet that the pro runners will sweep the whole Cantha in less than a week, and earn lotta money from it.

wow! wrong  PrinceT on 03/05/06 20:37

u should definitly use healing breeze u need it usually it can be replaced with vigorious spirit in my opinion its really good

  Lunarx1 on 03/05/06 21:06

Healing breeze is required to be cast every 10 seconds, for 10 energy

Since you have no energy regeneration, youd have to bonettis like mad

IMO its easier with vig spirit, my health is never below 470 with vig and live vic (i have 590 while enchanted)

So use what works for you, I'll use what works for me no build is "wrong"

This guide was mainly for people who dont know where to farm griffons at, and i just added a "how to" as a bonus.

[QUOTE]Cast Mending, wait for your energy to regenerate, Then cast Live Vicariously.

Acutally u can just cast Live Vicariously and then mending, u have to wait a shorter amount of time for your energy to regen :-D

  Lunarx1 on 03/05/06 23:11

Ty for info :)

I realized theres many ways to do this

I just posted my way :)

  doublehelix on 03/06/06 07:16

Mending then Live Vicariously - 5 more energy post-buffs.

Vigorous Spirit vs Healing Breeze - Healing Breeze is rather pointless in farming Griffon and always has been, but especially so now that this area with small 3-griffon groups is all that you have available for it. Vigorous Spirit triggers off of the Cyclone Axe, with each attack, and each spell cast (not applicable to this build, just noting it for detail). 5 energy for 30 seconds (36 if you run a 20% enchantment axe like I do) of gaining 8 life every time you attack (that's attack, not hit) is better than 10 (or 12) seconds of 7 (8 if you bump Healing Prayers to 9) pips of health regen. With Mending and Live Vicariously (and especially if you add in a 3/1 vampiric haft, again like me), you should never need more than the 8 from Vigorous Spirit to stay alive.. easily. You simply re-cast Vigorous Spirit after each use of Gladiator's Defense.

I was using Gladiator's Defense before the AoE nerfs, as per my now antiquated Optimized Guide to W/Mo Griffon Farming. Now I simply trade out the two smiting skills for Sprint and "Watch Yourself!" in most cases.

Considering the small groups and their spacing here, I would almost recommend a different build all together for farming this particular area (Like a Glad's/Ripost/Deadly Ripost build), but this should do fine. It will just be a little more bothersome not being able to single cyclone up a Bonetti's with ease.

  chessyang on 03/06/06 10:39

I was looking around for a place like this.... So thanks!... Good build

i think there is another place where these Griffons are out side of a Misson area but 6-9 spawn sometimes, that i saw while running someone yesterday. Think i'll go try this area (if i can find it again) and post if i can find it.

  MadManFrank on 03/06/06 10:57

i never knew you could farm griffons there >.<

and why do u "need" healing breeze? i never use it while farming and i do great
