Ok to start off with this took a tiny bit of thinking, a bit of cash, ALOT of time and an INCREDIBLE amount of patience.....
Now there has been alot of debate over the topic of armor and absorption, well i decided to do some tests, most of which have probably been done before, but why not do it again with a bit of proof, so here goes.
For this test i purchased 4 sets of Droknars Forge Armor, 4 Helm's and 10 Major Absorption runes and some different dyes for easier identification:
Green Gladiators Armor (no runes)
Orange Ascalon Armor (no runes)
Red Gladiators Armor (all absorption runes)
Blue Ascalon Armor (all absorption runes)
Note: With the Gladiators Armor i opted for the Knights Helm cause i think it looks better, there is no armor difference between Knights Helm and Gladiators Helm.
Ok onto the tests themselves, for these tests i needed to find 2 different sources of consistant damage (as i do not trust average percentage results), one needed to be Elemental the other Melee.
Elemental was easy as there arent too many elemental skills that increase damage, so i chose Eruption (a skill used by Stone Fury's).
With Melee it was a little difficult to find a constant source of damage as most skills do +xx amount of damage and attacks from melee weapons are x-xx amount of damage (random), i eventually chose Distract Shot.
Here are the results from my tests, i have highlighted parts where i have used combinations of armor, but you can tell by the colour of the armor on the avatar in the inventory:
Gladiators Armor Elemental Damage
Ascalon Armor Elemental Damage
Ok thats Elemental Damage, what can we tell from this...
1. Ascalon Armor absorbs 2 Elemental damage per attack.
2. Absorption Runes do NOT absorb Elemental damage.
3. Ascalon Armor absorption is global on elemental damage.
4. Eruption doesnt only hit the feet (not so important, but some people believed it to be so).
Gladiators Armor Melee Damage
Ascalon Armor Melee Damage
And thats Melee Damage what can we tell from this.....
1. Ascalon Armor absorbs 2 Melee damage per attack.
2. Absorption runes DO absorb Melee damage.
3. Ascalon Armor and Absorption Runes DO stack.
4. Ascalon Armor is absorption is global on Melee.
5. Absorption Runes are global on Melee.
6. Rockshots are anoying (i think everyone knows that allready)
Ok to sum up everything:
Absorption runes absorb 2 melee damage and do nothing to elemental damage, Ascalon armor absorbs 2 melee and 2 elemental damage, Ascalon armors absorption is global, Absorption Runes are global and finally ascalon armor and absorption runes do infact stack.
On another note i did some other tests but rather than clog the whole page with a million more pics i will just write down what i tested and my results:
Question: Ascalon Armor, Knights Armor and Ascalon 15k Armor is there a difference in absorption ?
Answer: No.
