The Empress is commanded by Captain Sao Feng. The ship has red sails and has a greenish coloured deck. Its armament is 15 heavy iron laden guns shaped like a dragon with the gun protruding from the dragon's mouth. The vessel also has a spacious captain's cabin. It is first seen when Sao Feng captures the Black Pearl. After being mortally wounded when the Flying Dutchman attacks the Empress, Sao Feng passes the captaincy (and his status as one of the Pirate Lords) on to Elizabeth Swann, under the mistaken belief that she is Calypso, goddess of the sea. The Empress is captured by the Flying Dutchman, and the crew is locked in the brig. However they are freed by James Norrington (who dies helping them escape) and escape to the towed Empress. The Empress latter arrives at Shipwreck Island and is seen during the final battle.
