Yes, this shot was taken on November 15th, 2007 at 17:53 Central Time Northamerica...

i'd like to know how this is nerfed as some people were saying it's nerfed... once again, this is one swing...

i see a lot of damage and effectiveness... not a whole lot of nerf.

Simple, Cyclone axe is ONE attack, that hits multiple targets. Check it out on Wiki, cyclone axe triggers SS and empathy (which both say when you attack) only once, even if it hits 40 foes. Whereas it triggers insideous(sp?) parasite for each for you HIT. Splinter weapon doesnt trigger for each foe you hit, instead, for each attack. And since that 1 attack hits many foes, splinter weapon hits them all.

Ah the confusion of Anet skill desc.riptions. :)

PS: If splinter weapon said it triggers for each foe you hit, then it would only trigger like 4 times. The main nerf is with Barrack where each arrow counts as a seperate ATTACK instead of just hitting 6 foes.

for this particular build it remains as effective and purposeful as it has ever needed to be. again, mwpeck explained the deal with cyclone axe, which is exactly why it's used... mwpeck read the skill deions before scrutinizing the pic. kudo's to you.

i agree with charlotte as well, it's obviously not as good all-around as it was before, as barrage splinters will really be affected. that aside it still works marvels with this, as you can see by the health bars on some of the L20 minotaurs after 1 hit of that. some don't have much damage done to them at all, but the total damage for the energy and repetiveness of this type of attack on groups like this make it devastating. hopefully they leave cyclone axe alone for now.

as for people who jump to conclusions that aren't accurate, claiming that a shot is old, or that a skill is nerfed... maybe a bit more research should be in order before you comment. perhaps try something out before being critical.

Splinter Weapon
From Guild Wars Wiki

Weapon Spell. For 20 seconds, target ally has a Splinter Weapon. Target ally's next 1...4...5 attacks deal 5...41...50 damage to up to 3 adjacent foes.

Doesn't matter if its a barrage a scythe cyclone or whatever its still less effective than before. The nerf made it so splinter itself hits less enemies so unless your hitting 4 or less foes it will do less damage than it did in its un-nerfed state. According to mwpeck's deion the only dif it would make than using barrage is you dont burn through all its uses right away but multiple times. So your getting more splinter effect from cyclone than barraged but its still nerfed and less effective unlike what you were implying on the caption to the pic.

all i'm saying is i don't find it to be nerfed, as the term nerf means...

when a part of the game is changed in a way that players do not like...This term was originally used for extreme problems, such as for changes that made a class, tradeskill, etc. unusable.

now i think we use that term too much for simply, changed in a minor detestable way, but far from unusable or useless.

less effective, yes, i agreed with you on that charlotte, but definately far from the true meaning of being nerfed, which is what i was trying to get across in the first place.

Its the same exact skill as before, the functionality of it has just been chnaged. The skill is primarily ment to be used as AoE, and not a single target attack skill. It works best and I think is ment for skills such as Barrage, Cyclone Axe, Triple Axe, etc...

It is still a very effective skill.. I really don't see why people are saying its nerfed. The diion was just changed. xD

I guess that Barrage+Splinter will hit (at 12 attrib) 4x3 critters. So for the best Barrage performance you need to hit a mob of 4 and each hit with Barrage will then hit each other member of the mob with Splinter as well.
Bigger mobs will just be wasted effort.

If a skill deals 1 less damage, people whine for it being nerfed.
However, splinter is less effective with barrage, so the "uber" splinter/barrage build is not the 1337 one anymore, thus less people will use it. Big deal.

It was nerfed for PvP, where nobody in their right mind uses cyclone axe. For PvE it's still reasonably effective. And works just as well with the splinter barrage stuff because you had to put it up after each barrage anyway.
