People say this really works, but so far not for me.

What is the real trick to this?
In the first photo, it's clear that the monk has 105hp, which is what one would expect when wielding a two-handed scythe, but PS would only mitigate to -10dmg and SoA would mitigate to -5dmg. Is there some trick to get 55hp benefits while also wielding a scythe?
The -5dmg per monster combined with the bleeding make for an ultra short unsuccessful UW run.
with sv and av you wont bleed, if you dont attack while deadly riposte is up.
soa reduces damage by -5 per hit! so at the second hit it reduces by 10, 15..20..25 and so on.so you only take like 5 dmg only.
to doominator: yes i know what im talking about, and i know that the monsters i dont kill doesnt really drop ectos, so they doesnt worth killing ( for me at least ), and if you checked the map you could see that im no only killing the smites.
ive got like 20 keys now, usually got 2/run but only 1 chest :S
