I let the charr walk ahead a then follow them later. when i was going through the river i came across the fire cauldron that they were suppose to carry through the closed door. When i got to the area they're suppose to go through, they were just standing there.
It's possible to get them unstuck. Just run over, aggro them, and pull them back to where their brazier is floating (the brazier is what opens the door), then break off aggro through some means and they'll go back and open the door for you.
Obviously, I've had this happen to me before :)
