The all round Necromancer guide.
I made this guide because I get frustrated by all people who can only play SS or MM because that’s the “most powerful”. This guide is to for people to realize that there are more builds you can play then the normal regular SS/MM/blood spike builds. I hope you have fun ^^
Disclaimer:
All builds in this guide are made by me and none come from Wiki. They are in my OPPINION the regular builds and they are just basic damage, for everything that’s in your opinion not part of the basic guild is because you adjusted the build or something else. Please only give positive criticism, but when you cant, don’t post a comment at all.
I can’t guarantee my grammar is perfect, neither can I guarantee my Guide has ALL guides that are for Necromancer, so please don’t yell at me for that.

4.1 How to make a home made build for necromancer or anything.
Hint: Use the ctrl+f function to search through it all!
1.1 Blood Magic.
Why people never want people with blood magic in their groups? Because people do not understand the true power of blood magic. The only (caster) profession that can outrage the damage done by blood magic is Elementalist. Is I chain a skill combo, I can come to around 300 damage in 4 seconds or even more. But Blood magic is awesome due another fact to, not only due the massive damage, but the major healing power of it. Has anyone ever had a Weller in their team? No? I though so, a Weller can create a constant +7 regen +2 energy regen with one spell and still do massive damage to opponents with the rest of its skills. Ever saw an other profession do that? Don’t believe so ;). But it doesn’t only heal with wells, it heals himself to with his spells. Blood magic is almost always, steal this amount of health, which means that you gain it, but the target foe also looses it. So it’s really nice for the monks etc. So stop rejecting Blood necromancers, and give them a really big hug for once ^^
1.2 BiP build, Deep, Urgoz and Domain of Anguish.
For all the newbs here: BiP is Blood is Power, it gives +6 energy regen to target ally. They are mostly used in elite missions because area effect can hurt the energy and its just nice to have +6 energy always. You have 2 different kinds of BiP, one is just with normal health (not recommended), the other is with just 1 health. To get on health you must let someone in your party take resurrection chant, so he can resurrect you with full health. To get 1 hp, do this: First get 55hp. Buy the armor from Shing Jea island that gives the most energy and buy a +1 blood magic head piece. Buy 1 superior Blood magic rune, 1 superior Soul reaping rune and the rest doesn’t matter (buy cheapest superior runes they have). Equip a Totem axe (its really nice due the +20% ench) and the -50hp offhand. You should now have 55hp. When entering mission sacrifice yourself to death (with BiP of course) and let the one with the chant resurrect you. Now you have 1 health. If you didn’t understand why you should ever want 1 hp, here’s the explanation: each BiP you sacrifice 33% so, with 1 health you sacrifice nothing. So you can spam BiP always without even sacrificing anything.
BiP Deep and Urgoz:
Explanation:
1. I don’t need to give an explanation actually, it all speaks for itself ^^
2. It’s a skill to fill in the bar, don’t ever use it unless you’re 100% they(opponents) cant hit you.
3. As soon 1 opponent dies, cast it, its great support for the warriors and monks.
4. Same as number 2.
5. If you are low on energy run forward, cast it on a foe with <50% health foe and run back, 10 more energy.
6. Use it on one of the tanks, its great energy support.
7. Just keep it up all the time, it only boost your attributes, doesn’t do anything bad.
8. A resurrection to resurrect people.
BiP DoA:
Explanation:
1. Don’t need to give any comments on this one ^^
2. When one foe dies, cast it, good support for monks and warrior.
3. Don’t use it, only when 100% sure foes can’t hit you.
4. Just keep it up always.
5. Same as number 3.
6&7. Keep them up always, at each waiting point and recast them when almost gone.
8. Just a resurrect.
Note: In the Foundry remove 3 and 5 and add charm animal and comfort animal, you need to let your pet die at some points, but that will be an other guide ^^, just ask people to help you.
1.3 Alliance Battles build.
This build does a fairly amount of damage and heals to. It’s not original but it works.
Explanation:
1. To degen and gain regen.
2. To degen and gain regen, with number one the target should have 10 degen and you 10 regen.
3. For massive damage at once, 110 damage. When target is above 50% let it chain with number 5.
4. For damage when no energy.
5. Same as number 3.
6. For damage when below 50% health.
7. Get regen before engaging an mob or a opponent.
8. Just for the boost. Keep up always.
Its nothing really special so just smite and kill some people.
1.4 The death for casters build.
This build is really good against caster specially, not really good at melee.
Explanation:
1. Just to do the damage for below 50% and a good instant self heal.
2&3. When target above 50% try to chain them, because they do 110 damage each, so 220 damage pretty fast.
4. To cast when no energy left, no good self heal but good damage.
5. Echo this skill, when half recharged cast the echo’d version. That way each skill will steal about 100 health, the battle is pretty fast over that way.
6. to gain health and energy half way the combo(he should be below 50% by then).
7. Echo soul leech with this skill.
8. To boost skills.
Note: If you don’t want to have Mesmer secondary, just take an other Necromancer skill. The build is less effective but its still working.
1.5 The Weller build.
This build isn’t about damage but about supporting monks and the melee fights. It has another advantage: it uses corpses so MM’s have no chance.
Explanation:
1. This is the first skill you use when something dies. It’s +7 health regen and +2 energy regen, so really nice.
2. WoP has high recharge, so when WoP isn’t recharged cast WoB.
3. It’s to give you the 1337 wammo feeling :p +3 regen FTW
4. some times the battle takes long or there are no corpses in that particular part, so start BR monks and casters. But remember, never BR a warrior, they are at the front line and when you go there monsters will attack you and monks have harder time.
5. It’s for gaining health and energy.
6. It’s nice for casting before battles or before BRíng, cast it, BR casters and poof 200 health back.
7. It’s like before just a nice boost, gives 7 regen instead of 6 regen.
8. Just a resurrect.
Note: This build requires corpses, so don’t take it in area’s where you encounter monsters that don’t leave corpses.
1.6 Order of the Vampire build.
This build is used in Tombs of the Primeval Kings(I belief its called like that). You can use it in normal missions to though. But needs good timing etc. when entering battle let the monks know you are going to cast it so they can back your health up. Cast it when the Warriors reached the foes. They’ll do now massive damage. When it runs out cast it again following by Vampiric gaze, that should back your up again, try to continue that the whole battle.
Explanation:
1. As said above, it’s for the massive damage and for the healing power of it.
2. Counter the sacrifice of OotV with Vampiric Gaze.
3. Cast the skill between the rest of the skills.
4. Cast this skill on one foe, then tab to next one and cast it on 4 foes. For 25 seconds you’ll have 12 regen.
5. Just to help the monk for a bit.
6. For if a warrior or assassin comes to close, counter their spike damage with 71 damage and heal for yourself.
7. Good help for casters and monks.
8. A resurrect.
2.1 Curses.
We all know that the power off curses Spiteful spirit is. Deals 37 damage to adjacent foes and to the target foe each time that target foe attacks or uses a skill.
It’s good for elite mission, PvE and sometimes PvP, but Curses is more. With curses you can constant degen a foe and give 2 energy degen. You can make sure they take massive damage from hexes. You can totally annoy a foe with 5 hexes on him which is totally annoying. Curses is way bigger then most people think. So please be creative and look further then the SS elite in your list!
2.2 SS build.
The SS build, for all the newbs: SS stands for Spiteful Spirit. It can deal massive damage if used good. The standard SS build has:
1. SS.
2. Awaken the Blood, for the boost.
3. A resurrect.
4. Arcane Echo, for double SS.
These skills are “must have” skills for a regular SS build for normal missions and quests. When you agro a mob, try to have Awaken the Blood up before going in with full energy. Cast AE and the SS, tab once and cast SS again. Tab through the whole battle like that and it should rain 37’s or with awaken 42’s.
2.2.1 SS build, Deep, Urgoz and Domain of Anguish.
This SS build is for the elite missions in the game, it comes close to the regular PvE build, but it’s still a bit different.
Explanation:
1. SS, it’s for the damage, not much to say about it.
2. It’s to echo SS, so you got 2, and double cast it.
3. Cast it when both SS’s are up, the attack faster so more damage.
4. It’s for sacrificing yourself to death in The Deep. At some point you need to stand on panels and a gate opens, some party members go through but the Necromancers never will, because they can sacrifice themselves to death and can let them be resurrected. But the SS needs something to sacrifice himself to death with, so that’s why you have this skill.
5. It’s a filler, it’s nice for the end boss but not really needed.
6. Let the warrior call a target and cast it on the target, because it’ll deal massive damage to surrounding opponents.
7. It’s for the end boss to. But it’s only good when at least 1 warrior has a cold damage weapon because it interrupts each hit and he’ll never be able to do his attacks.
8. A resurrect, speaks for itself.
2.2.2 SS build, for regular PvE(mission, quests).
This build is made for regular PvE missions and quest, works good on casters and melee foes.
Explanation:
1. SS, no explanation needed.
2. Echo SS, for double it.
3&4. Combo it on one foe with SS, it should be taking around 70 damage each attack, and can’t hit anyone.
5. Combo it with SS and enfeeble, but only on melee fighters: Assassins, Warriors, Rangers, Dervish and paragon. They should be taking around 70 damage and healing you for 40 each hot and deal around 10 damage max without using skills. So pretty good heal and damage.
6. For weakening foes, has low recharge so cast it on all Melee’s you can see.
7. A nice interrupt spell, I would recommend you use the Wayward wand, because it deals cold damage. You can get the Wayward wand after you killed Shiro.
8. A resurrect. Says all.
For having a really nice TA/RA build, swap Spinal Shivers for Ancestors Visage or Sympathetic Visage. When you see the monk taking damage cast it on the monk, because Assassins will loose energy really quick and wont be able to finish their combo, and warriors loose adrenaline so they become useless. For this build remove 2 points from soul reaping and add all those points in Illusion magic.
2.2.3 SS build, for the Underworld.
This build is used in the dual UW run, they still do it now but less than in the early days, due the update.
You got 2 different SS UW builds, one for dualling with a monk, and one for dualling with a Elementalist. For the Elementalist build The Beano should get almost all cresdit.
SS build with monk:
Explanation:
1. Says all.
2. Explained it so often that it says all to now :P
3. When you got the 2 SS’s off, cast Reckless Haste on target foe, they all will attack faster and that way SS deals faster damage.
4&5 chain it with each other. But only at the Grasping Darknes’ses and the Smites.
6. Sometimes the tank dies and 1 Aataxe runs after you, cast this skill with Reckless Haste and SS on the Aataxe and you got big chance you can solo it(I did often).
7. It’s a nice boost.
8. A resurrect.
Note: Some tanks need Blood Ritual, swap it then with PoF.
SS with elementalist:
Again, almost all credit for the build goes to The Beano, he invented it, I just adjusted it. Find the original build here.
It’s hard to do this build because need to weaken your foes always.
Explanation:
1. For the damage.
2. For speeding stuff up.
3. For weakening the whole agro.
4. If you missed one weaken that on with this skill.
5. For if a Grasping darkness breaks loose, you can cast this on it and get healed.
6. For Damaging if don’t have anything to do at that moment.
7. A nice boost.
8. For resurrecting the Elementalist if something goes wrong.
2.3 A Degen build that works for PvP and PvE.
This build gives constant 2 energy rdegen and 10 health degen. It’s very annoying and can shut down casters in seconds, I like to do it mainly in PvP, but I use it in PvE as well.
Explanation:
1. The main skill in this build, give a nice 4 degen with 1 energy degen.
2. 3 Degen and less problems with melee fighters. And it stays long on.
3. 2 Degen and it stay long on.
4. Nice for the extra 1 energy degen, combi it with Life Siphon to counter the 2 health degen.
Note: When you casted these 4 skills he already has 9 degen and 2 energy degen for 32 seconds which is really long!
5. This is for the short 5 degen to finish off targets, or when they use regen spells to counter them.
6. It’s for the interrupt, make sure you use a cold damage weapon.
7. It’s nice to counter the degen from malaise and give an extra 3 degen.
8. A resurrect, exchange it for Insidious Parasite when doing AB.
Note: This build gives a total of 17 health degen, it should be even enough to couter the dervish regen spell.
2.4 Caster killer for PvP and PvE.
The main goal of this build is to totally make monks and casters useless, due lack of energy.
Explanation:
1. Cast it on the target caster(mostly monk but if there is a spammer of something use it on him). All spells of that foe now use 5 more energy, and casters mostly pack together so the whole caster section will take 5 energy damage each spell.
2. It’s for the one energy degen and for the 53 damage when he has no energy left.
3. It’s for annoying them, they’ll try to counter it with hex removal, but that’s another spell so more energy gone.
4. Make sure a Warrior or Assassin uses a cold damage weapon so he can interrupt instant.
5. Use it on the caster so he’ll get even more damage from attacks.
6. Use it to counter the degen from malaise.
7. Use it on the target, with Assassins and Warriors the target will take massive damge due the 16 damage extra.
8. A resurrect, when in PvP swap it for resurrection signet.
2.5 Hex killing.
This build is one of my favorites, because it annoys extremely and does big damage.
1. Cast this after all the other skills.
2. Have it only when a melee fighter escorts you, otherwise take malaise.
3&4. Combo it on one foe, each attack damages 70 damage and heals you for 45.
5. Take it only when a melee fighter escorts you, otherwise take Enfeeble.
6. Nice degen and slower attack speed.
7. If you have casted 1 after this combo it should be below 50% so instant heal and energy.
8. A resurrect, use signet if PvP.
Note: use this build in this order: 2,3,4,5,6,1,7 rinse and repeat.
3.1 Death magic.
Death magic. The only 2 really know builds for death magic are Minion Master and Order of the Vampire, but there are loads of other builds you can use for playing with Death magic. Ever heard of a Conditioner? A Death spiker? I don’t think so. So please take the time for looking through these and enjoy!
3.2 MM build.
The MM builds. MM stands for Minion Master. What’s the use of a Minion Master? I mean, they produce level 18 monster, lol n00bs, lvl 18. But it isn’t about the quality, but about the quantity. With 16 death magic you can have 10 minions, dealing around 30 damage each against level 24 monsters. That makes 300 damage each attack which is a really good spike. It’s not only good for the spike, but good to for the tanks. Foes have normally 8 people to attack, but not they have 18 people to attack which splits the damage really good. But MM comes with down sides to: You are limited to corpses, so when there are no corpses you cannot summon any minions, which makes you useless. So choose carefully where you use this build, and where not.
Some build in here don’t have Animated Flesh Golem, because that skill isn’t that usefull. It only deals like 50 damage in 3 sec, and a normal minion does 30 in like 1.7 seconds, so I don’t want to waste that slot.
3.2.1 Self healing MM.
A MM sacrifices much because of the skill Blood of the Master, this build is a way to counter that sacrifice and help the monks a bit.
Explanation:
1. This is your most used summon skill. These minions deal great damage from ranged distance, so they can attack faster.
2. When number one is recharging or you don’t have enough energy use this summon skill, it’s nice to have a bleeding damage minion.
3. This is the first skill you use when a something dies, a big minion that leaves a corpse when it dies so you can upkeep him always.
4. This is to heal your minions for massive heal. You only sacrifice 25% health with it when you use it.
5. It’s to counter the sacrifice of number 4, and to heal you minions when they are in close range.
6. This is to give your self some regen, and to help others for a bit.
7. This skill is mainly to support the monks.
8. A resurrect.
3.2.2 Tainted MM.
If you don’t want to be called n00b and getting yelled at you the whole mission, use this build only with friends and guildies. The purpose of this build is to degen and damage your foe.
Explanation:
1. This is what you use to create minions.
2. It’s to heal your minions for a nice amount.
3. When you see a minion almost dieing, cast this on it, he’ll deal a nice amount of damage.
4. Cast this enchantment on every allied being and person before entering battle, gives really nice damage to opponents.
5. If you are short on health, cast this one, should fill up your bar immediately.
6. Cast it before starting to summon minions, gives nice damage reduction.
7. When you are in battle and have enough minions, use this skill, nice energy and nice health.
8. A nice resurrect.
3.2.3 AotL MM.
This build is really nice because it uses the skill: Aura of the Lich. It halves your health and halves the damage you take. You may think it’s a useless skill, but it’s really awesome. You sacrifice less, monks can heal you easier etc etc. You know where I’m going? Spamming FTW ^^
Explanation:
1. This is your main Minion summon skill.
2. Always keep one of those up, the bleeding damage is really nice.
3. It’s to heal your precious minions.
4. Keep this skill always up, if you need a quick heal cast is again, should heal you because it ends.
5. For fast healing and energy.
6. To give your minions a nice regen.
7. When a minion almost dies, cast this skill on him, nice skill this is.
8. A resurrect.
3.2.4 Minion bomb MM.
This is what you can call an overpowered build. When used right a fight take max 4 seconds. This build is based on dieing minions. Cast Death nova on them, send them in and kill them for a big boom.
Explanation:
1. Use this skill to summon to weak minions for the price of one.
2. You need a skill to keep your minions alive when your not fighting.
3. Cast this on each minion “alive”.
4. A fast heal and energy supply.
5. A nice damage skill incase something goes wrong.
6. If you already got 10 minions and one foe standing cast this skill for killing.
7. This is the key for letting your minions die. When all minions are in battle, spam this one so all will die and they will make a big boom and deal 105 damage each, that’s 1050 damage 10 minions, instant kill.
8. A resurrect.
Note: This build doesn’t use a Elite spell, because I didn’t felt one fitted good in.
3.3 Tainted build.
This build is mainly used in PvP, but it died a while ago. But this wouldn’t be an all-round guide if I didn’t discussed this one.
This build is based on that the players cannot take any conditions but each hit they get from foes makes the foe diseased.
Explanation:
1. Always keep this skill on all allies.
2. It’s for energy problems and for health support.
3. It’s for a nice AoE damage.
4. When you see a foe above 50% health, quickly cast this one, deals a nice damage.
5. For restoring health and energy.
6. Since you don’t use minion spells cast this spell as much as possible, nice AoE damage.
7. It’s a really nice degen against foes together with disease it makes -10 degen and that’s really nice.
8. A resurrect.
3.4 Hex and Condition killing.
This is ment to be a spike build but can be very annoying to(as in the form of hexes and conditions).
Explanation:
1. This skill you should spam after skill 2&3 are casted.
2. Cast this skill on target.
3. This skill is only meant for being there not for doing anything.
4. When you have time cast this one. Nice degen.
5. When all hexes and conditions removed start spamming this one.
6. When you are in eergy or health need, quickly cast this one, problem solved.
7. If skill 3 is removed cast this one.
8. A resurrect.
4.1 How to make a home made build for necromancer or anything.
For this part ill tell how I though out the Idea of the hex and condition killing guide
First thing you do, you choose an elite: Discord.
Second you ALWAYS take a resurrection spell.
So we have now a resurrection spell and Discord. Discord requires a condition and a hex, so we search for one: PoF and rotting flesh. Now we made us a spike build. But what happens when they remove the hex, and with 20 recharge that’s not very good. So we need to have a backup hex: barbs. So that’s done. We’re now on 5 skills. Now we need to fill in spaces. Let’s take an other damage skill for backup if all 2 hexes are removed: deathly chill.
What annoys tremendous? Degen! So let’s take Well of suffering! That’s done to now. We have one space left. It’s pretty sucky if monks die or no energy, so let’s back up that one to, consume corpse. Now we have out home made build.
I hope you liked my guide, have fun with playing Necromancer!!
