I don't know about you all, but I'm starting to get sick and tired of these weekend events. They wouldn't be too bad if they had some diversity to them. But it has gotten to the point where Anet has run out of ideas and now they're repeating things. Take for example the upcoming weekend event....access to Canthan Elite Missions and double drop rate of rare items there. We've all ready had a weekend like this. And another example would be the double and triple chances of green drops in Canthan and Elona. How many of those weekends have we had now? What about double drop rate of keys and double drop rate of rare chest drops? How many of those have we had? (I know that these weekends help some people and that some people actually enjoy them, but not all of us share those same opinions.)
What I'm trying to say is that Anet either needs to come up with some new and creative events or focus on something else that needs attention instead of wasting their time on stupid little insignificant things like these repeat weekends. Fix the freaking henchmen AI....they're still dumb as kittens when it comes to taking on the much smarter enemy AI. Add an auction house (like they freaking said they would but never have) to help clear up the trade problems and chat box filling spam. Make the games more in-depth than what Factions was (storyline was kinda bad IMO....and Nightfall wasn't much better....Prophecies however rocked.)
There are tons of problems, glitches, and improvements that Anet could be working on. But what are they doing instead? They're sitting there, twildling their thumbs, punching a button to add the same kittened events over and over. Get to work on something worthwhile Anet instead of trying to distract our attention away from the real problems by giving us more drops or something. IMO, they are avoiding their responsibility as a video game company to do their best to give gamers what they want. Cuz let's face it, if we gamers aren't happy, the video game companies are gonna lose money. (And I know that they can't suit everyone's desires, but they sure as heck aren't trying to take care of the major problems that just about everyone has complaints about.)
Anet needs to wake up and do something good with these games. If not, they're only going to hurt themselves in the end. How many people have all ready left GW for other games? The answer is...a lot. And I can personally tell you all that if the next chapter of GW isn't as good as what Prophecies was, then I myself will probably be leaving the GW universe to find greener pastures. Factions was a HUGE dissappointment, and Nightfall wasn't much better than Factions. So my message to Anet is this.....get to work on something good and worthwhile instead of wasting your time and us gamers' time by useless things such as weekend events. The End.

if its a repeat weekend they dont have to put much time in it i guess so from your point they need to fix other stuff i guess this gives them time to do it.

you should be happy they are giving us anything, what would u do if they didn't fix anything in the game and didn't give the players any events? Most ppl would quit, so don't count your losses, a lot of other ppl and games have it worse!

I didn't read any further than I quoted here.. It's not A'net efforts to keep the game attractive for all players that makes me sick.. It's posts like this that make me sick ;-)

Hear hear to that Trib! I agree that there could be an improvement or two made here and there in the game, but then again, ANet is always tweaking it to make it better. I can't imagine that they would go out of their way to make a game suck. And if there's something that we don't like, ANet is always willing to listen to our complaints...as long as they're constructive complaints.
Oh...and we've only had one triple drop weekend in Elona too...I can't wait for the next personally, because I really wanna get some more goodies for my heroes! ^_^

you must see it this way, when they make it this way, because its a repeat they can spend much more time for bugs, and not making the event, and i think A-net does a great job, really. people pissing at Anet for nothing, i mean without them we couldn't even play, and when you dont like it, please leave, i never was mad at Anet because i though every dissision they make must have a good reason(but i'm not so happy with the nerved spirit bond XD, but i can understand it). so for one time i agree to tribiana

They did create heroes for a reason... (some people also complain about heroes but...)

Yea I agree with you on the auction house, but also think about what it could do to the economy, I mean if everything gets more accessible, every item prices could go down...which leads to more complains...

No, they can't suit everyone's desires, but not EVERYONE complains about it, I think it's easy to notice that every time they try to improve, some are happy, other aren't, then some complain, they change, then others aren't anymore... it can go on and on and on...

yea... a lot of people left, things I hear are that some left because they nerfed some skills (or anything else) and that \"ruined the game\" and others left because having an overpowered build that was always going on and on was annoying (IWAY, SF, put anything else here)

They ARE working, and events is part of it, they watch are testing how are drop rates and other stuff (if I remember, they did double the amount of Balthazar faction after a double fun event didn't they?) It is not easy to please everyone (think about it, you created a game, then, some people complain for something, you add it, but then some other are complaining about the new thing, you have to decide what's going to be the best decision for the game itself, and sometimes you have to ignore some complains...) |
Please don't take this as a flame or anything personal, I only want people to be aware that when put something new (because of complains), many people will complain, they have to chose and they won't be able to please everyone....

If you like a chapter or not is due to a person him/ herself. I like Nightfall, you dont. That can happen. As a developer you cant always get 100% of the people happy.
Factions might have been a dissapointment for PvE focussed people; but still many people have loved it, including myself (and im a PvE focussed player)
This weekend event isnt something you have to do. And seen the way you talk about the event i wonder if you consider the fact that thise particular event is much wanted on both PvE and PvP players. Not many people find a taxi to get into urgoz or the deep. And many people would like to have the chance of trying it.
As for the 8v8 HA testing; that was much wanted as well by our PvP community. You say Anet doesnt listen; they apperently sure do. But they cant focus on what 1 person would like; they listen to the majority.
Hench and Hero AI are fine at the moment. Of course they will do weird thigs at times; but mind; they are NPC's -> Non Playing Characters. The program controls them and therefore will not anticipate on a tactic you have thought out.
Also; as in any other big game there are and always will be glitches. Even non-online games sometimes have 5 update patches to solve all problems. Why would GW be an exception on this? The fact that it is an evolving game and since it is huge makes glitches seemingly more frequent, but in essence are not.
Anyway; my main point is: these events are not things you have to participate in. It will be your own choice to do or to do not so.

I think that anet is doing these weekends to hold us at bay as they fix things or add new things. Several of these weekends have followed by huge updates. Go play a game where you never get updates, never get anything new and people are still playing them.
I like it when anet gives everyone access to elite missions in factions because when I go to those two towns all I see is ANYONE FERRYING TO ELITE MISSION, ANYONE ANYONE FERRYING.. SOMEONE FERRY ME TO ELITE MISSION WILL NOT PAY.. FERRY ME I'LL PAY..
Makes me want to cram my hammer down their throats or on their hands so they can't type it.
There are several things I do not like about Guild Wars but I am not going to rant or quit because of it. Still a Great Game. I do not like Prophies that much and Like Factions and Nightfall better. :)

why is everyone jumping on zephr storm he is entitled to his opinion!
i do agree these weekend things do get tiresome
the thing is they do things in spereate campains some people dont have these campains
do you notice they left prophocies for dead they never do anythin for it cept christmas and halloween
once i have beat the game 2 or 3 times it gets repetitive even with farming
proph always had things to do (running perhaps?)
then we wait until they fill us with joy when they say a new game is coming so we have two special events to play
who knows maybe they are doing this to tide us over so they can work hard on the next game
all i know is that prophocies was the best it always will be the best and that heroes kinda split the game
GW used to be about playing with others and meeting others
now all i see are people with number 4's above their heads
i joined gw last christmas and i loved it because all of the people the reason i wanted an MMORPG is beacaue i could play with REAL people
know GW is more like a normal RPG
the hero thing was fun but now they are just like hencheis except customizable, nothing more
so i have to agree with zephr on this one
i'll never leave GW until it leaves us
i just hope GW4 will be good,cuz if it isnt im gonna be using heroes alot

I said this in another post and I'll say it again....Wow. I can't believe someone gave me negative credit for voicing my opinion. Just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean that you gotta bash me and my credit rating. I tried to act as civil as possible (though some people may not agree with me using the word "freaking", but IMO it's an okay word). I didn't "flame" as most people probably thought I did. I just gave my opinion on how I feel about the weekend events that Anet does. And then you all gave your opinions in support of them. That's fine...you can say whatever you want too....but you don't see me giving you bad credit because I don't agree with what you say. So please, stop dishing out the bad cred to someone who may actually feel they were in the right with what they said. And to the people who gave me the bad cred...I really hope your attitude changes....if not, then this community is gonna go down the drain.
