Eviscerator (Sin/Any) *Final Edit*

Hey all.

I have been refining this build for months and finally decided to post it to the net for community use. This set should be in its final form now. Feel free to play around with it and add any relevant comments or additions. Enjoy

This is Ria and this is her build.

ARMOR:

Critical Strikes 9 +3 +1
Deadly Arts 8
Shadow Arts 8
Dagger Mastery 11 +2

Health: 450
Energy: 30

USAGE

*Never be the first to aggro. Wait for enemies to aggro tanks and minions (if applicable) then make your move. By waiting in the background for a few seconds you are able to watch the battle and get a general idea of how things are going to end up. This also allows you to pick off enemies that like to bypass the front line (such as nightfall npc dervishes) and pick them off right away to protect your mages.

*Siphon Speed counts as your lead attack. Once your target is hexed, move in for the kill.

*Use Shadow Refuge as much as possible during combat to offset random damage. When you start taking heavy hits, move away from the front lines and activate Feigned Neutrality for extra armor and health regen.

*Targets to focus on depends on your style of play and your party setup. (Will be explained later in the guide.)

*Monks are your best friend. This build can do some serious damage if used correctly. If your healers start taking damage, fall back and protect them.

*You should never expend all of your melee attacks on an enemy that will die before you can fire Moebius Strike. Always try to leave yourself with no less than one off-hand attack and one dual attack when an enemy falls. This allows you to constantly apply conditions and recieve the skill damage bonus on almost every swing.

*THE TWO BOWS ARE NOT NECESSARY. They are only used for pulling and MP/HP regen. When low on health or energy simply back off and change to ranged attacks for bow leeching.

Standard Attack Combos

When reading these patterns they will be explained by using the skill image which provides the slot number in it. Hopefully this will clear up some confusion as to how to use the build. Notes will be posted as to why the combo is set up the way it is.

1. Black Lotus Strike This skill provides some decent damage but is used primarily for energy regen and stacking for Blades of Steel.
2. Black Spider Strike This skill is used for minimal melee damage, applying poison, and stacking for Blades of Steel.
3. Blades of Steel This skill is used for applying maximum damage to the target. (Stacks with all dagger attack skills.)
4. Moebius Strike This skill is used primarily for recharghing attack skills and continually attacking the target with dual attacks.
5. Twisting Fangs This skill applies bleed and deep wound to the target as well as melee damage and stacks for a Blades of Steel combo.
6. Siphon Speed This Hex spell acts as a lead attack for either Black Lotus Strike or Black Spider Strike as well as giving the assassin a 66% speed advantage over the target. This skill can be changed out with any hex, but was chosen for its tactical advantage, low energy cost, and fast recharge time.
7. Feigned Neutrality This skill will not stay active while attacking, therefore is only effective as a retreating defensive spell. It should only be used when taking heavy damage and retreating.
8. Shadow Refuge This spell is used to provide a buffer for damage the assassin will recieve while engaging the enemy. It has a fast recharge time and carries the same attribute as Feigned Neutrality. Use it often. It is possible to change this out for a rez spell or signet, but greatly limits your durability in combat.

Vs. lowbie enemies, or in parties that kill very quickly

Prepare to switch targets often. Always be on the lookout for your next kill, and never leave yourself without a combo option for the next enemy.

First target:
Second Target:

Rinse and repeat as necessary. By splitting the build up in this way, your first target will be on the lousy end of a condition spike and it allows you to stack for a three dagger skill bonus with Blades of Steel on your second target. Moebius can certainly be used on the first enemy for extra damage, but you'll lose the stacking on the second combo.

Vs. average enemies (levels 20-22)

Enemies at this level will generally drop in one skill rotation. Focus on one target at a time to maximize damage.

Black lotus and black spider can be used in any order, but with enough energy in the bar it is far more energy efficient to lead with Black spider. By leaving Twisting Fangs recharging at the end you will be able to stack all three dagger skills on the next target for Blades of Steel similar to the tactic used on lowbies.

Vs. the big boys (bosses, enemies that heal or leech life, enemies level 24+, enemies that have immunities to conditions such as Jade Armor, Jade Bow)

This combo can be tricky. It requires you to be in the fray much longer than the other sets, making you vulnerable to attack. Don't be afraid to back off to let a tank regain aggro and heal yourself.

Even if your target is still above 50% health Moebius Strike will still allow you to use the other dual attack on your bar. Keep in mind that you will have to wait for the cooldown. Learn to time your attacks. By rotating like this you can continually apply Deep Wound and Bleed (if applicable) and stack a Twising Fangs and Moebius Strike for Blades of Steel. Even though some enemies are immune to conditions, the skills will still give you the damage bonus, but not apply the condition.

Energy is a problem with this combo. By slowing the combo down 1-2 seconds between each attack you allow yourself an extra swing or two providing leech and a chance for a critical hit. Once Black Lotus Strike is recharged rehex and charge your energy. This will also give you a chance to stack all your skills for Blades of Steel.

Counters to this build

*Any skill that causes a blindness effect.

Aside from carrying a skill to counter this yourself, you're out of luck. Back off to avoid aggro and pray one of your allies has equipped a remove condition spell. Be aware of enemies that carry skills such as Blurred Vision. Sit back and try to let someone else take the condition/hex, then rush the caster.

*Any skill that allows your enemy to block or evade a great deal.

Counter thier counter: Rangers can be a real pain. Missing skills will drain your energy rapidly if you don't pay close attention. A good tactic is to rush right away to beat the defenses. Due to limited time, use the lowbie strategy for quick damage. Once the enemy activates a defensive skill, change targets and return to the ranger after its defenses are down to finish him off.

*Any skill that disallows casting of a hex spell on the target such as Spell Breaker or Shadow Form.

Countering Shadow Form is impossible with this build. Pick a new target and wait for the skill to time out. For enemies that use Spell Breaker, just make sure to fire Siphon Speed before they can get up their defenses. Enemies that carry this are monks, so it's a good idea to put them down fast. Stick with the big-boy combo set.

It's just the name I gave to it. I didn't really think about the actual skill "Eviscerate." I've just been calling it that since I made the build. :P Easily changed.

This will be explained later, but if this sin is still alive and the healer isn't then the sin isn't doing its job.

This build is set up for causing massive damage on the lines, and if need be, protecting monks at all cost. This build can drop a level 24 quickly and procedure will be explained in the guide when I finally get it finished. If someone using this build cannot read the enemy and protect the monks when needed then they shouldn't be using the build in the first place. :P

Thank you for reminding me. I'm a guide newbie, and completely forgot to add the weapons into the screenies.

Weapons are:

Ceremonial Daggers
Ironwing Flatbow
Ironwing Longbow

Um if your ever going to post a guide in the future here or on wiki I would suggest that you call the name of your build by something that has to do with the actually build. Because when i saw evistirator that is very misleading, I thought the assassin used the skill eviscerate.

Mention appreciated, and it has already been noted. (Please read above posts.) I went primarily on the fact that no other builds had been named this on wiki. If I could change the thread/build name I would, but it's already posted and impossible to change now.

Please refrain from pointing this out in future posts.

Yes, the name may be "misleading," but if you think of an actual word outside the realm of Guild Wars, it could make sense ;P

On the note of the build, couldn't you just drop either Black lotus strike OR black spider strike for a res? I have used a very similar build to this and it works very well. I think I will try this one later :)

EDIT: Thanks for the back up btw.

Yes you could drop either to substitute a rez, but once I finally finish the guide you should be able to see why the build needs the skills it has in it. This is not a build where you hope to survive anything that hits you. A sin using this build should always put his or herself in the line of fire before the monk falls. This build is an extreme damage build designed for experienced assassins who know where to be in any given situation at any given time. If an assassin using this build has a decent group and knows how to watch a monk's health, the sin should be able to protect healer and survive the combat.

RE: Eviscerator (Sin/Any) *Final Edit*

its a combo......thats it. The Twisted Mark combo is stronger and its run almost exactly like this. It doesn't have a knockdown which isn't a big deal with sihpon but it does help with minizing dmg on you and anything that they would have casted. I've run this before but i put in a more useful elite then moebius(its not a bad elite but Blades and moebuis is like healsig and frenzy). I put in things like Shroud of Scilence, Siphon Strength, Seeping Wound. and since its really just a combo, any elite hex would work. Its not a bad build but, its not that new.

I'm curious to see this Twisted Mark build you're talking about. I checked it on wiki, but nothing popped. Do you have a link, please?

My main reasoning for posting this was that I see very few moebius combos that seem to be any better than a one shot burn. I completely agree with the lack of knockdowns, and Horns of the Ox could probably be put in instead of Blades of Steel. I just like the stacking damage capability, and especially in PvE, your target is often standing right next to a buddy.

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

I kinda like the build, it looks kinda like mine.

Just some small ideas (not critics, just trying to help)
  • If you want a REALLY cheap and easy to recast hex, go A/N and use parasitic bond, it's a favourite of mine with only a 2 sec recharge, 5energy cost and 1 sec casting time.
  • I'm sure you know it, but isn't death blossom a better skill instead of blades of steel? you will get much more damage out then
  • Investing a minour rune in shadow arts won't do you any harm
  • instead of shadow refuge, use the combo dark escape+feigned neutrality. the half damage + 80 arm will make you nearly invincible while healing
  • that's it from me I guess.... If you want to try it out for PvE aswell, perhaps toy around with assassins promise?

Cheers: Wyat

Oh god! I completely forgot to mention this build was designed and tested for PvE and never once tested in PvP. That's embarassing. Will add that in as soon as I get home. Sorry. ><

The hex is probably the easiest skill to change out in this build. Yes, PB is a nice substitute, but without an entry shadowstep the speed difference is critical.

Minor rune, good idea. I equip energy runes for mp bonus from 25-30. Losing 35 hp and 2 energy isn't that big of a deal.

Dark escape is also a nice idea and a good bonus on the retreat. Although refuge isn't a huge help it can definately assist in a pinch. I've also used allied target shadow-stepping skills in the same way. Also very effective.

I tried working this build with promise, but being that it's an elite hex, you will lose moebius and completely destroy the build integrity because the harder bosses won't die in one rotation. Without another hexer in the party you're a dead duck, and the 45 second recharge on promise makes it a non-option for quick and easy mob chaining.

Good points though, I'll definately try them out and possibly add them to the guide. Thanks. :)
