When unicorns still roamed the forest, when Elves and Dwarves lived in friendship and Giants climb their stakes up to their homes in the clouds, there, in a kingdom far far away from here…. Ehhhm…. Right… I mean : upon publishing my last article on GameAmp I got loads of reactions to….. Ehhm, several people asked me to, eeehmm, I got a PM about…. No… ehhm..
Let’s talk about domination magic mesmers.
In the guild I’m in (guild of domination) I’ve seen many a warrior come by that threatened he/she could beat anyone… Sure… I ask them: “wanne try my wimpy good for something Mesmer in a 1-on-1” ? Of course they do… And of course they loose… Seen many a warrior in AB think they could alone take on a lone caster… how wrong they are.
Bottom line of what I’m trying to say: every profession has a counter, and just because you cannot master a certain type of character, they suck… Big-time… Until you have them against you of course… You then retreat and tell everybody that it was tactical, or that you wanted to reinforce the others, you beat the crap out of the guy, and left him to rot… Yeah, sure you did… Or when you really are ignorant, you die on my hands, get ressed and then tell everyone you didn’t have clue what happened…. Just like the monks that cast themselves to death with backfire all over them… Sorry (fellow) monks: my backfire is stronger then your self-heal…. In short: when you are in an AB, die and haven’t got a clue what happened, there is probably a mesmer running around.
Of course I forgot that minion master that casted blood of the master, just after he got backfire on him …. Now that was funny….
Most people out there underestimate the mesmer, and don’t keep an eye out on the hexes they got on them. Hexes can hurt like hell, and sometimes even more then sword, bows etc. ‘
When you really want to live: look into your left-hand corner and pay attention to those pink little hexes over there. Hexes hurt. The hinder your movements, they kill when you do something etcetc….. And then I haven’t even started about curses from the necro.
Tell tale of the story is: when the enemy brings both monk and mesmer: take out the mesmers first. They can shutdown you monk or support casters, and hamper your movement. And when the battle starts depending on your own monks, you don’t want the enemy mesmers meddling with monk-like mending of your mayhem-mob.
Of course, this does not apply to any luxons, since I’ll be fighting you as a mesmer…. :-)
Just take a little piece of advice from an old (… ? …) seasoned warrior like me (that sucks at farming and running, but anyway :-) ). There is no such thing as a stupid build. Only stupid people exist who haven’t got a clue what to do with it. If you are happy playing a warrior and you are good at it. Please do. We need you and appreciate you. But do not turn down someone who might master a different profession you cannot, just because you do not understand it’s uses. Even the assassin, when played right, is a very strong character, so.
Have fun, like I try to do, and see you in the nightfall campaign.
