The weary travelers set up camp close to Crystal Desert about, 3km away from the Amnoon Oasis. The dwarves wanted to press on, but many people were tired. Adelbern pointed out that if they left too many people behind, if they got into trouble later on in the journey, they would all be doomed. That was enough to persuade them to stay. “We can’t stray too far from the cities of the desert either.” Said Adelbern, “Not without plenty of provisions.
“Then we will stock up on plenty of food and water at Amnoon Oasis tomorrow.”

Eve was hopelessly lost. She cursed herself under her breath for not staying with her friends. But Cynn had pushed her over the edge with her constant sarcastic remarks. She knew she was somewhere in Kryta, close to the ruins of Orr and of course the Maguuma Jungle. Don’t go west then, her mind told her. The trouble was she had no idea which way west was. She could make out the sea on the horizon, or at least, what she thought was the sea. She knew the sea was to the south and gradually found her bearings, then set off in search of civilization.
Because Eve hadn’t really seen the sea, she was heading in the wrong direction. But because she didn’t know this and because she was lost in her own little world in addition to the real one she didn’t realize that she’d set foot it the place she least wanted to go: the Maguuma Jungle. It took her a while to notice this, but by the time she had, she was so far in, she couldn’t see a way out. Once again, she cursed under her breath, where was she supposed to go now? It was then the spiders descended from their treetop hiding places. Giant Needle Spiders, great just what she needed.
It was more surprise than her usually quick thinking that led Eve to do what she did next. She fumbled on the ground for a weapon and quickly found one, a fallen vine. She wrapped it around one of the spiders and managed to strangle it. She then used it’s corpse to summon an undead minion, which quickly finished off the others. Again, without thinking, she told one of her minions to take her to a city or town. To her surprise, it darted off. She quickly followed it. As she ran, she wondered to herself “does to minion know the way through the spiders? Or is it just more intelligent than your average undead fiend?” Nevertheless, the minion led her to safety at Henge of Denravi. The capital of the jungle was not what you would call ‘immensely populated,’ but there were enough helpful people to get her back on her way. She spotted Shadow, and headed over, to her. The two got along well, as they could really relate to each other. Shadow was one of the few people Eve could call a friend. Shadow told her that if she went south near Maguuma Stade, there was a riverboat which would take her back to Kryta. Eve thanked her and headed south. Eventually she found her destination, but instead of a guide there was a corpse lying beside a ruined boat. She gathered up some tree bark and managed to repair the boat slightly and started to sail it down the river. About three quarters of the way to the Riverside Province, Eve gave up trying to bail the water out of her boat and decided to try and swim the rest of the way. She ran into a few river drakes along the way, but nothing she couldn’t handle. Eve now needed to make her way to the port of Sanctum Cay to seek passage to the Southern Shiverpeaks, where she had no doubt the Ascalonians would be heading along with the dwarves.

It was time to leave. The dwarves had agreed to move in stages, because the people of Ascalon were not used to such extreme conditions. They would move out of the Desert today but wait just in between the mighty mountains of the Shiverpeaks and the desert. They did not want to go from one extreme to another so quickly.

Eve had managed to find a boat heading to Droknar’s Forge, the capital of the Shiverpeaks. She had payed a considerable amount of money to get aboard, and toyed with the idea of charging the others for it. She decided against it. They would sail relentlessly to the capital, as the ship had sailors who could take over the wheel at night. Eve had a meal of Fish (caught fresh that night), Potatoes and bananas (the ship was carrying them to the Shiverpeaks,) then went to sleep.

Holsley’s watch was over. He went over to Osric’s tent and woke him. “Sir, it’s your turn.”
“What? Oh, all right, I’m getting up.” Osric muttered in reply. They had agreed to only use higher ranks of the Ascalon Army, who had years of experience, and were trustworthy, after what had happened with Marshall, they weren’t taking any risks.
“So what do you think the dwarves are up to?” Osric asked, “They seemed a little annoyed with the fact we had to move slowly. And they insisted on having their own guard tonight.”
“I’d leave them to it sir,” Holsley replied “I don’t think they’d try anything, Adelbern and their king go far back. He wouldn’t be too happy to them if they caused uproar.”
“Hmm…” wondered Osric “Very well, Captain, I agree, now get your rest, you’ll need it.” Holsley was right. The dwarves may have not have been happy, and none of them were actually asleep, but they weren’t known for heavy sleeping, and they certainly weren’t thinking about mutiny.
